    I also went from a Sportster (iron 1200) to a Sport Glide, here's what hit me first :
    1st the Confort : The forward control, the suspension and the seat are amazing, no more stress on my body.
    2nd weight : I know the Sport Glide is heavier but it feel so much lighter, maneuverability is also better, I didn't expect that at all.
    3rd cargo room : When I got the bike I was thinking about removing the bags for short trips. Now I don't ever want to remove them, I have my rain gear, extra gloves and everything else I need in there, no more backpack.
    4th the engine : Just wow, I dont even want to try the 114, the 107 is amazing on the sport glide.
    5th the brakes : 2 thumbs up for the brakes on that thing, so much better than my previous bike.
    6th Highway speed : I never liked taking the highway with my sportster, 60mph and over was too windy, I laughed out loud first time I tried the highway with the Sport Glide.
    But there's 2 things I liked best on my Iron 1200 :
    The 1st gear power : I don't know if it is the electronic throttle or the weight of the bike but my Iron required a lot less of throttle moving from a full stop than the FLSB.
    The sound from the driver seat : The Sport glide muffler sound have a good low rumble but from the driver seat, all I hear are the clic clic clic from the valves, I would like a little more bass from the driver perspective.
    The FLSB is a great bike, it does put a smile on my face every time I ride it (so did my Sporster) but now I can enjoy that smile way longer !

    Spot on analysis! I was a diehard Dyna fan (rode my Super Glide Custom for 10 years), but I fell in love with the Sport Glide and I bought the 1st one that came into my dealership after being the 1st to ride it. This is the 1st Harley that I've owned that I didn't want to immediately switch out the seat! I added Rox Risers to bring the bars a little closer and have recently replaced the 5" HD windscreen with the new Klockwerks model and am loving it. Some folks have said that it doesn't handle as well as some of the other new Softails, but I haven't experienced that in the least. She's not a light bike, but she handles great! Finally, I love her because she's not like any other bike out there! Keep up the great work!

    Great video, I have a 2020 Sport Glide and agree with every point you have made (would have been nice if the bags matched the bike but of course they have now rectified this with the 2021 models) Keep up the good work!

    I agree with you 100٪ I just got a 2019 and I am so happy with it, the handling is amazing I have 300 miles on mine. What I will get for sure is an Ohlin cartridge fork kit, in the stock form the forks are kind of soft for me.

    Stage 4 is pointless unless you do lots of highway riding. From factory the 107 is more then enough. Stage 1 is great for street and highway. Btw it's a beautiful bike man.

    Here are my top 5:
    Overall style/design of the bike
    Stock removable bags/faring
    5 gallon gas tank
    Ease to customize and work on
    The engine
    and 6 speed transmission
    So far, no regrets! Just put on 12 inch mini-apes and they are a welcome upgrade over the stock bars.

    For the Tune DCycle, I suggest going with the SE Tuner for now until you reach 5000 mile service so you can tell if your M8 Is having oil sumping problems or not.
    The M8's have been having an accurance of some bikes that wont sump the engine oil properly, and are having backed up oil circulation.
    I'd check with harley before tuning the bike to see if you got the latest oil pump that was put out for the M8s.
    I wouldn't void the warranty with an FP3/Powervision until you know absolutely for sure that your M8 Isn't having a sumping issue.
    Because once you tune that bike with the aftermarket tuner, you're on your own if you end up noticing an oil sumping problem.
    I would check one of the harley forums to ask them how to tell if your bike has a sumping issue or not.

    • @DCyclemoto
      @DCyclemoto  Před 5 lety +1

      FranBunnyFFXII I heard the touring models were having the sumping problems. Not so much the softails.
      I have already planned to use Harleys tuning products with the Arlen Ness Big Sucker.

    I was torn between the low rider and the sport glide earlier this year but ultimately went with the sport glide because of all the little extras and comfort measures! And you take the faring and bags off and you have a low rider anyway! Very comfortable ride only thing I’d change off the line is the bars. I’m a shorter rider and the bars feel like an aggressive ride to me. Otherwise top notch. Definitely a diamond amongst the new softtails. Great video!

    Easily one of the best handling Harley’s
    Recently upgraded to stage 2 RSD cleaner and rinehart racing 2 into 1 (kills the two brothers and bassini) torque cam

    I have a 2018 with a torque cam, Bassani Road Rage pipes and ventilator (w/ Defiance accent) air intake. I also replaced the black rockers with chrome. I also got the Custom Dynamics running lights; creates a nice 3 bright points from the front. When I first saw the Mantis Wheels I didn't like them. I think they were just so different from expected. Now I wouldn't trade them. The aggressive look really contributes to the overall styling and they're lower maintenance than spoked. They set the SG apart. People comment how cool they are. That stage II torque cam is nice. It doesn't increase the max power so much as it gives about 10% more at RPM over peak. I don't know where top speed is but that thing keeps pulling strong for more than I've been willing to try. I wish the fairing was maybe more like the bat wing but there's more available now. I love the comfort, feel, styling. The ride feels so solid and it handles great (low center of gravity & inverted forks). The balance of black and chrome is eye catching. It's bad_ass. I don't like how the license plate covers the view of that fat back tire.

    Really enjoy your videos and content. New subscriber.
    Decided to get out of the Touring line (2018 Street Glide Special). Get something more nimble and lightweight with the ability to still do long distance multi day trips in relative comfort. I decided to test ride the Sport Glide and the decision was easy for me. Picked up my Midnight Blue 2019 Sport Glide on Monday. With the 2020's coming out they knocked $2500 off MSRP for model year closeout. Bonus. Over 400 miles on it so far. Hard bags, Cruise control, forward controls, inverted forks, and the Milwaukee 8 on the new softail chassis. Winning combination. Will have the 1000 mile service done on this awesome machine on Friday. Also got the stage 2 torque kit scheduled for October 8th.
    Couldn't be more satisfied with my decision. For me and my style of riding the Sport Glide checks all the right boxes.
    We also have a 2018 Heritage Classic in our Garage. My wife's. Currently just under 10,000 miles. Another awesome long distance option.
    Keep the videos coming.

    Hey D I agree with your top 5, here are my dislikes, the chrome header pipes should be mat black, the exhaust looks like an after thought, I hate the brake and clutch levers and grips, same old crap HD puts on all their bikes. I changed the grips for Avon with throttle boss and just ordered new levers that are easier to reach and are blacked out, the rear brake pedal is awkward so I put on a pedal from a fat bob it sits lower and easier to reach, and I will change the intake to a Cobra that is black as well, other than that I love this bike. Eventually will change the exhaust , Bassani Road Rage II. Hey but that’s the fun of owning a bike. See you on the road someday.

      @@DCyclemoto Yes sir! The Sport Glide blows the Street Glide away, in my opinion. I really did not need that GPS and radio by the way... It handles way better around town than the Street Glide. And it just handles much better over all. Backing it out of the garage and turning it to the direction I wanted to go with the Street Glide was like moving a big hulk of a top-heavy machine. With its lighter weight, the Sport Glide is quicker too. I'd have no problem taking it on an extended weekend trip with those side bags. Can not wait to get through the break in period so I can open it up.

    Love my 19, but there are a few things that I dislike. 1st off is the paint. Mine is the midnight blue and I love the color but the durability sucks! The midnight blue scratches so easily, even when compared to the black bikes. 2nd is the stock seat. Although it's a 2 up, it's only good for roughly a hour before your passenger has had enough. 3rd would be the tank strap. Mines came off from the console 3 times so far, and you can see that it's basically glued on.

  • @Jonathan-L

    Where I live, the Sport Glide is $6000US cheaper than a Road Glide Special. That's a lot of money. Whilst the Road Glide is a nice bike, I'm not so sure if it's worth it when the Sport Glide is so much cheaper. But am I missing something? I'm undecided and need to be convinced that the Sport Glide is the better choice.

      Just to give you an extended review after a 800 mile trip over this weekend, the bike can crush highway/interstate miles beautifully and can handle the twistys. Road Glide will give you more comfort, sure, but it depends what kind of riding you want to do.

    Hi, have you actually tested the power output from the USB? I would want to run my phone as my GPS while riding but it draws quite a lot of power. I would want to see/ensure the USB could power the phone enough and the GPS would not drain the battery after an hour. Thanks.

    • @DCyclemoto
      @DCyclemoto  Před 5 lety +1

      Hoping to test it soon! Maybe I will do a video and charge my phone during a ride and see how fast it charges 10% of the battery. What do you think?

    • @galentong4783
      @galentong4783 Před 5 lety +1

      @@DCyclemoto Do a video where you run a GPS app like Waze on your phone while going for a ride. Run it without plugging the phone into the USB to show how much the app drains it, then run it plugged into the USB to see how much it recharges the phone. If you want to get really scientific, you could plug the USB into a voltmeter to see exactly how much voltage and current the USB puts out. Thanks.

      I get to put 75 miles a day on mine going to and from work (when weather allows) so, replacment is not very far off. Maybe 3 years... I tend to have to replace cars about 5 years or so.

      The Blue Bike & Doyle not a cool comment. I went to my local dealership a couple weeks ago looking to possibly upgrade into a street glide or touring model, willing to spend the extra money. After sitting on the bikes and talking to the salesmen I just decided to get a bigger windshield thru Klockwerks. The Sport Glide handles really well and is significantly lighter. The guys working at my dealership told me one of their customers has a CVO and a Sport Glide and put the most miles on the Sport Glide. I wanted to want the street glide more, but literally left the dealership more in love with my Sport Glide... just saying...
