  • So I have found myself the proud owner of a G-Shock GravityMaster GPW 2000. Because I have owned it less than 10 hours I obviously can’t write a full ‘review’, I need more time of hard wear and perusing the user guide for that, However, I can give 5 (actually six) first impressions/ observations. They say first impressions count for a lot so please watch and see what struck me about this fabulous watch. One has genuinely blown my mind. This watch can utilise Bluetooth and the G-Shock Connected application, Multi Band 6 as well as Global Positioning System (GPS) satellites, I.e. it knows its own longitude and latitude anywhere on the globe and thus knows its own timezone; it is a true wonder and ground breaking technology. It also has the carbon fiber strap which is a first for me. It also harnesses ‘Triple G Resist’ technology.

    Videos and photos don't do this watch justice. It's a stunner in person, and has one of the most readable faces of any of the 15 G-Shocks I own. We travel from the U.S. to S.E. Asia almost every year and having the ability to set the watch from Bluetooth or GPS is very nice. I've previously traveled with a solar charging MR-G which I believe was one of the first Casio watches to allow setting from GPS and radio signal, but the MR-G, which has a DLC titanium case and band, was 4 times the cost of this GPW 2000. This watch has now moved to the #1 position in my watch rotation. It just does everything right.

    A solar watch is usually given away with the L M H but saying that, my GW-B5600 has no battery level :-P So yeah, can see you didn't notice it... but what a beauty, and this is my favourite looking G-Shock... I wanted a MRG, but also wanted the look of a typical G-Shock with resin, and since two years now I've had no regrets... the perfect traveller, and with GPS you can be anywhere and it'll know your time zone. Has a complex manual side, but once setup you basically leave it... I have a few tips but will let you enjoy it first :)

    Hey StormRider I finally got this watch today after waiting for 3 years. I got this same Color(Olive) with the Orange band tone on the inside. What an absolute beauty. I've never seen the Lume as sensitive as this Watch. Got this Brand New, unused and there aren't many New GPW-2000s out there and like the Original Frogman's, the Prices are going up. A dumb question but what does the top dial do? The one that says 24hrs. I'm from Canada so not sure if we get a Signal from the Fort Collins Tower down in the US, FL.

    Howdy there sir. I've checked your videos on this watch, nice job. Recently received a GPW-2000-1A2JF. Can't for the life of me figure out what the Batch or Serial Number might be. Positive it's legit from Sakura in Jp, but the numbers don't fit in any online databases. You have any ideas??

      Congrats on the GPW, it's a superb timepiece and there is a lot to learn about it. In terms of the serial number I know there are some data bases to check on but honestly don't know if it's comprehensive and officially covers all Gshocks. I would just take it into a CASIO dealer the next time you are near one and ask them to have a look for you. My instinct is that you'd know if it want legit because it's such a complex watch it would be clear if it wasn't, but always good to get peace of mind so ask at a Casio store. Cheers!

    Nice choice. I have one of those. One of my favourites. It is one of the only triple sync G-Shocks i.e. bluetooth, GPS and Multiband 6. The GPW-1000 was the first G-Shock with GPS but in my opinion the GPW-2000 is a more refined watch. You might also like the MT-G B1000 and / or G1000. I prefer the G1000 myself.

    Still debating about whether to get one of these. If I think of it as 'a big tough watch with GPS' then it makes sense. The 24 hour countdown and stopwatch are oddly limited, but how often would I time something for more than 24 hours anyway? And since getting a couple of Bluetooth squares, I really appreciate features like GPS point marking and time sync. It's just a fair chunk of money, and I've already got a number of watches. Hmmm.

    I stopped purchasing Gshocks because of my experience with the predecessor to the GPW2000. I had an issue with the countdown timer on the GPW1000 not returning to the 12 O'clock position.
    The watch was sent by recorded post to Casio UK - It was received back to me with no invoice fee, because of the warranty. Everything was ok for a few months, but the original problem randomly returned.
    I won't continue complaining on Stormrider's comment page. My main question is - how much wrist time your GPW2000 receives? How does it compare im terms of usefulness to your GWG Mudmaster?

    • @stormrider1119
      @stormrider1119  Před 3 lety +1

      Interesting, I really don't ever hear of technical issues with G-Shock watches but I guess like everything there must be some instances. The GPW isn't getting so much wrist time at the moment because I'm so enamored with my GA-2100, the green Rangeman I just modded (see yesterday's video) and the GG-B100 and the G-9300 for harder activity. The GPW is primarily for travel when I use it but to be honest it looks great smart casual also so I break it out a couple of times a month for that. I hope that helps... Cheers!

    • @stormrider1119
      @stormrider1119  Před 3 lety

      And in terms of comparison to the GWG-1000 Mudmaster, the GPW has many more time setting / location features including GPS, waveceptor. And has the G-Shock Bluetooth Connected app integration which the GWG does not. The GPW also has this crazy bright super illuminator LED, you won't believe how bright; lights up a room. Both are tough solar. Main things GWG-1000 has that the GPW doesn't is the compass and barometer/ altimeter - I love having these functions personally. So rather different purposes, I see the GPW as a travel watch and GWG-1000 as the adventure watch. Cheers!

    • @freeatlast1963
      @freeatlast1963 Před 3 lety +1

      Thanks for the fast feedback. The second hand issue is well documented on watchuseek forums. It seems to affect GPW1000, but not the 2000 - also the GWG has similar reports on the forum, of wonky seconds hand performance.
      My main beater is a 5610 square, which gets the majority of wrist time. It's ironic the cheaper Gshocks are maybe more reliable in some cases.

    • @stormrider1119
      @stormrider1119  Před 3 lety +1

      The 5610 is an all time classic. Multi Band 6 and Tough Solar means it ticks the key boxes for me. Hard if not impossible to beat for the price.

      Hey sorry to hear you had troubles with the GPW-1000. However the predecessor to the GPW-2000 had known issues. Also, there's an issue with the battery used in the GPW-1000 where on some watches it doesn't recharge once it goes flat. You have to replace the Battery. They changed the battery used in the GPW-2000 to eliminate this issue.

    How this compare to your gwg 1000 in terms of build quality, looks and comfort on ur wrist?

    • @stormrider1119
      @stormrider1119  Před 4 lety +1

      OK, so the GPW 2000 GravityMaster is more refined in looks - you could wear it with smart clothes, maybe a suit at a push where as you can't with the GWG 1000 Mudmaster. The GWG 1000 is an all out tactical beast/sport watch, especially with the desert strap I have.
      Build quality I don't doubt is very much the same, they both feel solid and that they could survive a tank running over them. The GPW does have a more metallic feel to key components both on the face and the bezel so one could argue its less likely to get scratched up on the bezel.Both have crystal sapphire glass.
      Comfort wise the GPW 2000 takes it for me and I think that is purely because the strap is carbon fiber whereas the GWG 1000 is resin. The carbon fiber is wonderfully pliable and soft whilst being virtually indestructible. I must be honest I am over the moon with the GPW to a level I did not expect.
      There is a key factor that means the GWG is still an important for me; it has a compass whereas the GPW does not, but then selection purely comes down to what activity I'm doing. Hope that helps, cheers!

      @@stormrider1119 Thanks ! Casio just don't gives us a watch with the complete package. GG B100 had the best functions but with cheap hands, non-solar charging and just one motor. I like the look of gwg 1000 the most but the world time function is very awkward to use. GPW 2000 is just too much money for the functions. Anyway, if u are a g shock collector, than u have to have this one too. By the way, is there a Gulfmaster GWN 1000 or q1000 coming in the future? I could almost see another video coming.

      I have both the GRB100 and the GPW2000. The latter being quite expensive since it has GPS, Multiband-6 and Bluetooth. The GPW also incorporates Carbon Fiber in it’s construction and a whole host of other things like Sapphire Crystal.
      The GRB-100 is an excellent watch. It’s Solar Powered and has Bluetooth. To tell you the truth my GRB-100 gets more Wrist time than the GPW2000 lol. Though mind you, the newer GRB’s look awesome however they don’t have Solar Charging so something to keep in mind.
