  • It has taken 3 weeks or so for me to deep dive and really understand this watch to the degree I like to before I talk about it with any level of authority... Now I can categorically say it’s the ultimate travelling companion watch. The fact it has three systems to understand its location and timezone; I.e. Bluetooth via G-Shock Connected App, Multi Band 6 and GPS makes it a powerful beast - you are unlikely to ever be in a situation where you don’t know your location again thanks to the Gravitymaster - this is one smart watch. You may even find the answer if you are trying to find things to do at a departure gate ... :)
    In this video I cover three of the most critical functionalities as an international traveller with this watch, I also cover daylight saving, power save and multi band 6 functions at a high level. I even do a demo of a Power Save ‘wake up’ of my Metal Square as a bonus...

    The GPW-2000 is definitely not to be missed; I am glad I managed to pick one up in 2020. Do you know this is the first and the last model to feature 3-way time synchronisation (Bluetooth, Multiband 6 and GPS) in a mass market model (though it's still a high-end Gravity Master)? Now the functionality of 3-way time synchronisation is strictly reserved for the ultra high-end MRG-G2000 only, not even the more affordable MRG-B1000 or MRG-G1000! These two basic MRG models either feature Bluetooth and Multiband 6 or GPS and Multiband 6, not all 3. Obviously it is a shift of product strategy by Casio. I realised this as even new Carbon Core Guard Gravity Master and new analogue Frogman do not get equipped with GPS but only Bluetooth and Multiband 6.
    I am glad I managed to secure a piece of the GPW-2000 even after it was discontinued. Never regretted this purchase. Today I am still wearing this on rotation with my other watches. So, if you ever come across one in the showcase, grab it!

      Yes it's a very special watch, and as you say hold technology only reserved for the top top end options. It's would be virtually impossible to get yourself in a situation where you cant get it to auto-synch itself to the proper time via one of those three options. It's also a great balance visually and I wear it both casual and in smart attire. The other incredible thing is the power of the backlight, it can literally light up a room, always surprises me... Cheers!

      @@stormrider1119 You are absolutely right! It does have torch-like LED backlight to light up a room. Glad you appreciate the watch. Overall, it's a technology marvel packed into a watch. Moreover it looks good aesthetically. This is indeed a complete timepiece, great for anyone who can wear a fairly large watch.

    I wanted this watch. There was a huge discount on the U.S. g-shock site. Unfortunately they’ve sold out. Any idea whether this model has been discontinued? Can’t wait for your analogue frogman review. That’s one I’m seriously thinking of getting.

      Cheers Mel. So this specific GravityMaster has indeed been discontinued unfortunately. There is a new line of GravityMaster but they are a rather different looking watch, I haven't worn one so can't really comment but they have a different look to them than this model. So if you want this model you will need to look at Amazon / Ebay I guess. Yes I'm looking forward to the new Frogman, still not clear when I will get access to one as availability seems scarce. I got a 1000. Only complaint is why the hands have to extend so far on the non-pointing side. That side on the minute hand covers half the hour hand. Sort of dumb.

    • @richardforss2069
      @richardforss2069 Před 2 lety +1

      It is to increase the gravitational load the hands can take (i.e. they can 'handle more roughness' that way) according to Casio.

      I have definitely seen GWG 1000s in Casio shops recently, you can still pick them up at retail. This model GPW 2000 is discontinued yes, avaliable on Amazon and rising in value as far as I can tell as the new GravityMasters are rather a different look and feel.

      @@Manny13840 yes it's odd to me too. The new GravityMaster is obviously an impressive ND technologically capable watch but it is totally different to the GPW 2000. I'm not sure what the thought process is. The 2000 is a seriouly classy watch and anyone who owns one will be happy they got it when they did. It's the only one which holds the same technology as the top top end MRG but doesnt cost the same high price. Thank you for the comment!
