    Especially in the 80s, the themes sounded so hopeful, optimistic, adventurous. I miss the old times.

    I like 1987-1991 the best. I didn’t like it when they changed it. Personally, I miss the network stations doing regular movie nights. It brought the family into the living room. Thank for uploading.

    The mid 80s versions are the ones that hit me in the feels. I remember the V miniseries from that time.

    Remember when 1970s movies on tv seemed to have really good sound clarity? Those console tv sets had good speakers, especially Zenith. I am 60 and recall all these movies and every movie bumper from 1970s-1980s. Wonderful.

    Before streaming, before dvds, before vhs, we had to wait for the releases we didn’t catch at the theater-and we couldn’t WAIT!!!!! It was appointment viewing. The whole family would gather and watch. Thems was the days man. Makes now suck even more than it already does. Also before after effects and Cinema 4D graphics. These weren’t done on no laptop!

    NBC played lots of Hollywood’s motion pictures for so many years, I believe that it’s never too late to bring NBC Movies back to TV.

    Great set of opening promos. Some of the those later 1980s one were pretty slick for their days considering the computers available.

      It seemed that the ABC TV movies were mostly Disney related and I remember Michael Eisner being on doing intros for Disneyland and Disney World.

    10:25 - This takes me back to waiting for my parents to pick me up from my grandparents house. There will NEVER be a time like the 80’s again! So glad I got to experience it first hand!

    So exciting to see that earliest intro again! Mom let me and my sister stay up late to see an occasional "Saturday Night at the Movies" during the year they first premiered (1961), and we thought it was so special. These intros really bring back the memories. Thank you so much -- and thanks to you, too, Mom!

    I remember some of these "movies" weren't just motion pictures, but also sometimes when a new series premiered, like "Knight Rider" and "The A-Team". Also I believe they also made a 2 hour "Hunter" episode a Tuesday Night At The Movies once

      Yep-- both were Sunday Night at the Movies broadcasts (I think the latter one was after Super Bowl XVII, 1/30/83).

    Interesting fact: Victor Bozeman, the announcer at 2:39, was one of the first African-American voiceover announcers for a major network. He also announced KNBC news (L.A.'s NBC affiliate).

    The 1984-1987 intro was always my favorite. It was right up there with ABC's Star Tunnel intro from 1981-1986.

    Thank you for these memories of my childhood in the early 1970s growing up into adulthood into my early 30s in the 2000s when the networks dropped these great movies in the early 2000s Big Mistake!! ❤❤❤😢😢

    There was a promo in 1991 where the NBC Monday Night Movie was geared to women who didn't want to watch Monday Night Football. Also NBC brought back the Saturday Night Movie around 1999 with Ryan Seacrest as host. There were contests and trivia. I'll find a link to one of those.

    I never saw the NBC Late Night Movie intro. We never got that in Philly. Every night after The Tonight Show with Johnny Carson or Saturday Night Live, local programming would take over and it would be the KYW3 Late Show.

    The 1980s movie intros for NBC, ABC, and CBS were always the best. It made every broadcast seem like an event. The ones from the 1990s were boring.

      I wish NBC would air their movies on Sunday and Monday, ABC also on Sunday and Monday, and CBS would be Sunday and Tuesday.

      NBC was in second place over ABC's "Monday Night Football" every fall, but on October 8, 1984, NBC premiered "The Burning Bed" starring Farrah Fawcett as a battered woman who turned the tables on her abusive husband by incinerating him!
      The movie was rebroadcasted on St. Patrick's Day, 1985, where the rating was higher than the original airing.

      Different animations, though-- the 1979-80 one has the former 1976 N giving way to the 1979 bird by having the latter animate in close-up before zooming out, and the 1980-81 one had the parts of the title leaping through a marquee, and then having the Proud N and title zoom out to the middle of the screen (both IIRC).

    Alright but I don't remember growing up seeing that many double features per night. Therefore, should be Monday Tuesday Wednesday Thursday Friday Saturday Sunday Etc night at the movie? Movies is misleading. They only typically show one movie a night. I know I'm picky but that's me.

      It did, but it apparently was only a late Sunday/early Monday offering--and might've lasted less than a decade (supposedly, '77-'84).

      I know ABC and CBS restarted them during the pandemic, but I don't think they're on a regular basis. Not sure about NBC.
      CBS has been re-using their 1978-83 movie for theirs.

    On 1:15-2:49, I thought that NBC Movie Intro started being used in the fall of `76, and therefore used it for 2 years from 1976 to 1978.

      I am not sure they considered it a movie intro. Ironically, those shows would later be shown on the CBS Late Movie.

    This really was TV worth watching when NBC,ABC andCBS always had great made for TV movies and miniseries almost ever night of the week . Then they all pulled the plug in the early 2000’s for reality Tv show garbage .That’s what tv is now cheap cheesy singing and dancing competitions . oh TV movies are just too expensive to make so we’ll go for cheap reality shows less expensive and really boring and outright stupid a lot of them year after year since 2002 . 🥱
