      Its not just that he doesnt know how to cut off the ring. His footwork is terrible going forward. Its so flat footed. Thats a huge flaw especially if we ever get a fight with him and haney. Haney is gonna dance circles around him and be more active than ortiz was.

    I also felt like Ortiz deserved to win by virtue of implementing a plan. Teo was puzzled for the first 5-6 rounds and trying to lunge in with his hands down out of frustration. It wasn’t the prettiest performance by Ortiz, or the most punishing, but it technically was working. It’s just funny bc if Teo was the one that fought that way they still would’ve given him the victory and he might have even been praised for the performance.

    I'd say Teo barely barely won, though really as a champ it was his fight to lose so to speak. Sure Jermaine had a great plan but it was a stinker of one. I guess I'm with the old-school look of to be the champ you gotta beat the champ, which was not the case. On the biggest fight of his life Jermaine forgot that boxing aside you need to put on a show (it is a business at the end of the day), I'm not sure many people will want to pay to watch him in the future... though I could be wrong. Overall, Jermaine landed 2 more punches overall but Teo was more accurate overall, landed more power shots and seemingly was the one who did more damage and 'pressed' the action. It really was a rough fight to watch, for all he accomplished Teo seems incapable of cutting off the ring which is ridiculous.

    If you “hate” any particular style, you can’t possibly be a fair arbiter or even observer (let alone a true fan) of the sport. By admitting that you “hate that style” you are effectively admitting to hating a group of boxers and therefore will automatically introduce bias in both your judging and commentary. Let’s not even talk about reffing. Boxing needs better than ppl like this. What’s more, and even more disturbing is that some styles are particular to some ethnic/racial groups - Mexican fighters are known to fight closer inside the pocket while AA fighters are known to fight from the outside, use more lateral movement and box more. The problem with these so-called analysts and experts is they fail to understand that there’s more than one way to win a fight and simply bc you dislike a style doesn’t mean that said style can’t win a boxing match. Do better. And this is coming from a Boxing Ref.

      Politics shouldnt factor in. If you win you win simple as that. Was a boring fight but Ortiz probably should have won or at most a draw. Teo didnt win that fight. You dont win fights by just coming forward. Its called effective aggression and teo was totally ineffective. The only rounds i gave teo were about 4 and it was mostly because ortiz slowed down and stopped his activity (as low as it was already).

      @@Mike-hy8cs actually yes you do win fights for coming forward, thats why judges have to score and factor in "ring control". Teofimo had complete ring control while ortiz continuously ran away. Fighters win titles ALL THE TIME for ring control... Its good for the sport as well as the audience.

    I disagree. This is such an odd take from someone... ahh, who cares. If he was running, then the ref would've called for aggression. He didn't, so I think that argument isn't valid. He boxed all fight, and deserves credit for it, especially in the moments when he was invited in, or held the pocket WITH and LONGER than Teo.

      @lad-bo9ll Agree.. I find this take from Teddy a little ironic and dare I say hypocritical. This is the same guy who yells at his fighters in the corner that they are blowing it. Ortiz blew it. Yes Teo did not cut off the ring but there was one guy attacking landing more power shots and one guy running away trying to steal rounds and not get knocked out. This was not a robbery. 117-111 to me is wrong because the rounds were so close but you have to be willing to fight.

    • @harwn999
      @harwn999 Před 3 měsíci +1

      @@cperceptionsmusic it’s cLled effective aggressiveness. Teo wasn’t Landing and wasn’t showing ring generalship so according to the rules to how boxing is scored no way teo won that fight. This isn’t rooted in an opinion. It’s based on marquees queenbury rules, which are judged by: clean landed punches, affective aggressiveness, defense (yea you get points for defense!), and RING GENERALSHIP. Teo wasn’t landing clean punches and wasn’t doing any of the above so if a round is given to him and he did none of the above it’s clearly corrupted! You’re not making sense because you don’t know boxing! You can win a round without throwing a punch, ie Willie Pep!!!! Because if ring generalship and defense. If the other guy isn’t landing and isn’t cutting the damn ring off which is boxing 101 then he does NOT win thag round. That’s not an opinion it’s a fact.
