You know your fence installer is a baller when he has matching neon gloves and shoes. 😎
His ensemble is a mark of professionalism. 😂
Lol most of the kids I work with that give a fuck what they look like at while at work, work like shit. I have been running work in the roofers union for a few years now if you wanna check my mf credentials
Thank you for calling BS truly BS. I love honesty. Great job well done.
Love this one! One of your most successful sarcasm/facetiousness efforts yet, ... and you still found something good to say about it! That's sarcasm with class. 🤜🤛
Electric post hole diggers can be had for a couple of hundred bucks and they come with two sizes of augers--a 3" and a 6"! They come with long handles to apply the torque necessary to get the job done. Of course, for remote work where electricity is out of reach, gas-powered post hole diggers can be used although their prices are a lot more.
But they’re not…gas augers are nearly the same cost.
Might be good for 'pilot holes' ....bust up some hard dirt or get in between the rocks then hit it with your actual auger. Just a thought.
I use a 1 1/4" HAMMER DRILL and CONCRETE BIT to predrill for T-posts in the extremely rocky mountain top soil I own. The T-post goes right in, and gets more solid with every rain.
I have one of those. I bought it at Home Depot in their garden dept.
It is to dig holes for plants, but you are right, it digs post holes good
too. I'll give you a tip: Dig post holes when the ground is wet & soft.
We have wet winters here in California so thats when we dig. This
December I need to dig 8 post holes.
!
I was going right there soon as I saw the video. My wife uses it to plant sunflowers around the yard. 😅
In soft soil right
Absolutely the perfect tool to take to the beach to put up umbrellas.
The classic garden bulb auger. Also how to prematurely wear out your drill and let the magic smoke out after a few holes. Pretty sure the typical hardware stores sell these in their garden sections.
But the ad showed them installing fence with them……
I use mine around the garden and for setting temporary electric fence posts.
Ive even used it with the extension to drill out an 8" fence post hole on the side of a hill where my auger wasnt sane or practical to use.
Ive also used it with a diy 8' extension to drill a hole under a slab to run pvc under it.
But i wouldnt even consider it even if it had been my only tool for like when i had to put up 200 posts around one of my pastures.
It, like all tools, have their purpose, and can be used to do some jobs ok they wernt best fitted to, but not the best idea to do.
I start the hole and fill it with water the previous day works like a charm.
It may help do plummed pilot holes for 1.5" metal fencing poles partner with a pole driver.
Maybe but in our area I doubt it.
That's a good idea for metal post using 2 holes next to each other then a quick dig out with a post whole digger for the diy home project.
It's good for planting fall flower bulbs. When you need to plant hundreds of daffodil or tulip bulbs.
Dude you did not expand your hole for the size of the post and you did not clean out your hole like you would with post hole diggers. I have seen other DIYers have success doing the same thing you did!! Appreciate the vid!!
He did not wanted to get his matching shoes dirty. This guys is a clown, just missing the wig
I bought one longer and about 4 times as wide. Cost about $10 and it works great. It doesn't remove the soil for you , well it does remove a good bit at first, i'll take it. But it loosens the dirt so you only have to extract it, If not too rocky the post hole digger pulls the loose soil right out. Works almost as good as renting those big powered auger devices from Home Depot. Saves you the money, and the time, and fits easily in your truck ready to go. This guy probably knows stuff I don't, but he didn't even try. DIgging into dry dirt works best, wet just sticks to the blade and the digger. Rocks- hate em. no idea how to break thru them. Anyone? Oh, and I use the hammer setting when I want to widen or just break up dirt, non hammer to dig deep. Also just wedge it against the side in a bind to widen or redirect the hole, like you do if your drill bit is just a shy too small when your drilling through thin wood. Wobble it. Have fun.
I was waiting for this one.
I’ve run a landscaping and fencing company for almost 15 years, this is great for flats but just buy an auger with a 6-8”x 3’ bit for $300 bucks if you plan on setting any post
Step 1 complete
. Now get the next two sizes up. You probably will need a beefier drill than a toy drill.
😆 Well, we typically use skidsteers and auger drills...
Great video and commentary 👌
Thank you! 👍
I use to set utility poles. Augers are your friend. You need a bigger one. Yes everyone has their preference. You do good work I think;).
We love augers... when they're real augers. 😉😄
i'm using this to drill my concrete pilings for an upcoming skycraper build!
🤣🤣
Saw you knock out another fence - solid work
I have a drill auger (sold by Sutton Tools here in Australia) for building retaining walls. 6" (150mm) diameter, 18" (450mm) depth, 7/16" hex chuck. With a decent drill (Milwaukee m18 fuel) it is a HUGE timesaver. Can get a dozen holes to full depth on 1 battery. In rocky ground I require a fencing bar in conjunction (drill, dislodge, repeat - maybe 3 or 4 times per hole). Can buy a 300mm extension as well (I just finish the hole with the bar and shovel if I need to go any deeper). Quality product! - this one looks cheap and nasty!!!
Yes this one is no where near that caliber of tool. Total trash!
yes...that thing is awesome for planting hundreds of plant bulbs fast, but useless for much of anything else!
Absolutely!
I feel your pain bud, I’ve only ever been able to get the Tip in.
Lol…. That’s all it takes sometimes lmao
That was funny stuff made me laugh when you where digging with that I was like wtf is that gonna do. You would go threw about 40 battery charges but yes good for tiny plants
These little augers are great for planting tulips.
I think so too!
It would be great for the u shaped fence posts!
That’s the Bees Knees these days!
Drill it, stuff it, fill it with some hydraulic cement and in 5 minutes….. add your 2x4s to the flat side and you’re “rollin”!
Just left the family reunion to start on my project!!
those things are sold and advertised to be used planting bulbs etc. in Oklahoma lol
If your serious about holes a tractor mounted hydraulic auger is the go. I have one of these drill augers to try to dig holes for plants. You don't know my soil - it is rock hard. I try to dig 4 holes per planting so that I can go to shovel depth. Sometimes I cannot even get the auger to depth with my drill auger and have to fill what pilot holes I make with water to soften it up overnight. For star pickets my investment in a very hefty jackhammer with a star picket bit was the only viable choice. If you have luscious loamy soil you'll have no idea what I'm talking about.
These drill augers are worthless in my opinion. They work well for setting up your beach umbrella.
Where can I buy mine? Link?
I have a gas-powered hand auger. It ain't worth squat boring into rocky soil, especially with bigger rocks. I've had to use a jack hammer, bar and shovel to get 36' post holes. Augers do not work, niether toy sized or man sized.
Agreed. All our augers are bobcat-mounted. czcams.com/video/RfKrpnTxaRI/video.html
Buy Harbor Freight hole auger and buy the better auger bit. I have worked mine to death and it keeps ongoing. I also have bought a 3" auger from a farm supply. So now I have 3" 6" and 8" auger bits. The auger is a beast from harbor freight. I tried using in soil that was unknown to me to be river rock. I sheared the pin that attaches the bit to the hole auger. Then rented a skid steer and auger to find out I should have rented the skid steer with a backhoe instead. The river bed is very difficult ground to deal with. The skid steer constantly jammed up on the rocks and the holes ended up being more like pits. I persisted and got the job complete.
I have serious doubts that harbor freight has anything that will stand up to the abuse our soil will dish out
@@SWiFence Not for daily commercial work. Thats why you have the big equipment that come in a a stingy price tag. All I can tell you is what I paid and what I have gotten out of it. I would for sure buy another one when this gives out. Small hobs it is a winner.
Maybe a pilot hole to set a ss40 before driving it or vinyl. Or chain-link pilot hole, before using a driver
Maybe put in some line posts for chain link fence … if they are in sand and…. Nah… I would rather be seen digging holes with pink clamshells than to have people think I fell for that scam!
Thanx for the chuckle!!!
Except for the fact it can only dig about 12”. Thanks for watching!
Oh the innuendos that this video brings to mind. 🤣
Noting gets by you guys 😂
Depend really. For a simple homeowner, the 3"x24" auger bit can help starting the hole. Then you go at the side and bottom with a shopvac. If it's hard clay, go at it with a pressure washer, then shopvac all the muddy mess. Nasty business but it work way faster than manual Post Hole Diggers. But of course, if you are a pro, it's all nonsense. You need real tools.
These are misrepresented as post hole diggers. The true post hole augers are longer and wider. These are best for making holes for plants etc.
Cordless is cool but I try to use my corded tools when I can.
Can I use that with a regular drill?
Sure
“Just the tip.” 🤣 Now I don’t feel like my time was wasted watching this video.
Come for education, stay for the laughs.
What about 2-3 inch link-wire fence posts? About 18 inches deep seems awefully shallow for and fence post especially if there are cows or horses to corral. Cheers from Alberta, Canada.
I’m not sure what a link wire post is?
Might be good to mix cake batter with🤷♂️
I’m not into baking 😂
this is for planting in the garden, not for installing poles. how do you think you can insert a pole with a much larger diameter than the hole...?
Well that would be the hilarious part about what I ordered. According to what I ordered it should have been the same size.
This was hilarious!
You can get 6 inch versions
Yea when he took that bit out I knew it was nowhere near wide enough lol.
Reminds me of the "awesome auger".
Nothing awesome about this!
Just the TIP.
😉
he's wearing gloves to protect his hands from the fire coming from inside that drill!!
With that DeWalt, it might be good for milkshakes.
Love it! 🤣
You definitely tell by the comments some folks jus aren't fencers! Wonder how long it would take some to fence in 150 to 200 acres with corner braces and H braces with that bulb drill? They just getting the picture.
I use a little beaver
A 1,000x better than this!
Mam 50 otworów do nawiercenia toż to szok
Yeah that's a solid nah. Just watched the intro to the gadget geez.
Edit: Would be great for some small plants for landscaping. Went to the website. That guy has to be trolling the people.
The promo video he has for it is totally misleading.
how did he *know* I was watching this at a family reunion..... also that thing might make a good compost pile airator
🤣
That's bulb planter lol not post jole lol I'm so glad work gives me 8" on bobcat
Works for t post
The auger was to small they make bigger ones for drills I would try a larger one since it’s a big post.
The point is it was advertised as a 6" auger but it's clearly not. That and no drill is going to dig holes in ground around here.
Good for mixing pancake batter.
That's about it.
What you have there is a bulb auger.
Now that you're living in Florida, you'll find the beaches are ready and willing to accept this 'tip';)
We have used it for our beach umbrella, no lie.
@@SWiFence You take the drill to the beach!? That's fantastic! I'd be willing to bet you're the only one around with a Dewalt in your beach bag.
Da Beaches love the tip round here too!
Uh well....there are different sized augers! Lol
They advertised this one as much bigger than it was. 😁
What would I expect with such a small uager
That's part of the joke. It was marketed as being the same size as the post.
You’re killing 😂me
Sometimes all you need is the tip😂
the ad i saw fir this was to transfer your pots to your garden not fence poles
That would make a little more sense!
@@SWiFence My friend used a kijij ice augue for 80$ gas powered it did his holes easy he did bolt conduit onto the handles so two people could hold it cheap and fast
Maybe should drill two or three holes?
Nah. This whole tool is a joke.
6 inch? More like 6 centimetre. I guess they forgot to do the conversion when they ordered in China. 6 inch is 15.24 centimetre.
"a bunch of people tagged me in a video showing a useful tool for digging post holes... I don't know why they tagged me..." Perhaps they consider you a useful tool!
Once you get the tip in its all down hill.
4:09 That's what she said
Back to the 40 thousand bobcat.
There are other ways... czcams.com/video/15zL8bOXU1E/video.html
@@SWiFence Thanks
Useful for other applications tho 🤔
Honestly we have used it for the umbrella on trips to the beach. 😁
No way that was a 6” auger bit. Can see that from here.
You are correct. That's part of the hilarity.
I'll have you know I dug to China with one of them there 🤣🤣🤣
😏
A Bob cat ain’t 40k lol maybe a used one.
Let's be honest...do you really need any more to go in than "just the tip"
planting bulbs
That's about it.
I have an auger for planting but it still cannot defeat this rock filled terrible red clay 😡
Gee I don’t get it… my 6” post won’t fit in a 2-1/2 hole…. Well no kidding
Well, that was kind of the whole point. The tool was advertised as a 6" auger bit.
😂😂😂
a metal round fence post wont fit? why would you attempt the fattest thing you could find for a tool that is smaller than most fencing tools?
The point is it was advertised as a 6" auger when it's clearly not.
#JustTheTip 🤣
Just the tip.😅
:)
Snow and sand. Lmao
I actually use it to install my beach umbrella now 🤣
It’s designed for planting
Agreed--they should advertise it like that.
Try metal posts .
CAn you guys come build me a fence ?
As Bob Barker would say “If the price is right!”
You need a bigger auger for fence posts... people don't use drill-bit augers for that. At the very least use a post hole digger to remove the soil you loosened up. Common sense dude.
Yes--it's absolutely common sense. If you watch any of the other videos on the channel you'll see what kind of equipment we use. The whole point of this video is how ridiculous the ad was, and how their "6-inch" auger was definitely NOT 6 inches. 😆 There was no part of me that ever thought this might be a good idea.
You paid way too much. Buy a mobile home tie down anchor for about 15.00. Then cut off the loop end.
😂😂😂😂 tht was funny
Yeah pretty ridiculous.
Do you want to slave over your fence like the rest of the house wives 😂😂
Why would you buy a small Auger piece instead the bigger and wider ones available? Unless either as a joke video or just plane stupid?
It was marketed as a 6-inch auger. 😆
Rename the video “Just the tip”
😉
Ya really.
Lmao!!!
Lol
Lmaooo
Yes… i peace of sh&? That things is…
