For venditte he had a 2-sided glove. He can use either hand, he just has to declare before the first pitch to the batter. Then can switch for the next better.
Do you think coming in under slot value and allowing them to go after a guy (like Ryan Sloan) was part of it?

This is just distracting us from them not trading for any bats. XD

Poor Austin Voth 😂… but seriously he’s not very good at pitching. 😒
This pick would’ve been great if he can bring a right and left handed glove out to the mound for lefties and righties. See how the staff develops his abilities for the show.

Feel like it would be worth not completely abandoning the switch pitcher thing. Like if there’s a guy who’s especially dangerous against righties but terrible against lefties that’s a situation where it could still be useful

I bet the Mariners are regretting trading Toro right now lol. He's been a solid .260 hitter in 277 AB. Only 6 HR, but that's clearly not what the M's need in their Kauffman Stadium of a ballpark (I only reference that park because I HATE hitting there in the Show WAY more than at T-Mobile).

Can Cijntje come up to the bullpen, now? He’s probably already better than Austin Voth…

It’s a great side show.. but you can’t win if you can hit the ball.. as usual the priority is getting average couch fan excited to buy merch.. when what we need is a 1st 2nd and at least one corner outfielder

Marcus Stroman has never come close to throwing 98 or 99. He’s just another guy who is under 6 feet tall. Lazy comp from scouts.

Average MLB scout = that gray-haired dude in the Hawaiian shirt in Tampa Bay from the movie The Rookie.

And all they needed to do was write a number on a piece of paper, hand it to Teoscar, and they would have had 3 picks

We lost picks because we let him go?

@@statik2550 if we had made a qualifying offer, we would have received a pick as compensation when he signed elsewhere

@@statik2550we could've given him a qualifying offer and gotten a comp pick based on how much he signed for elsewhere I believe

@@statik2550 You need to give him a contract in order to trade him. He was going to ask for 12mil+ and the front office was just not willing to pay that. They still could've traded him for 2-3 prospects. They just might have been liable for paying at least part of that salary.

    • @coachmullen1

@statik2550 we lost him because we didn't extend him a qualifying offer. The risk was that we'd offer him a huge one year contract the we didn't want to pay and he might've accepted it... but we all know he wouldn't have accepted it. Our compensation for offering him a large contract and having him decline it would've been an early compensatory pick.
I'm not sure of the exact rules... the original commenter seems to suggest it would've been more than one extra pick at the end of the first round, but I'm not sure about that.
