  • Jason "Puck" Puckett, former KJR host and Ryan Divish, Seattle Times, recap the Mariners recent struggles, relying heavily on their starting pitching but lacking offensive firepower. The team's poor play has led to a decline in their standings. Julio Rodriguez, a young player with high expectations, has been struggling at the plate, showing signs of inconsistency and trying to do too much. The Mariners' core players have also underperformed, with the exception of Cal Raleigh. The Houston Astros, with their strong offense, pose a threat to the Mariners' division lead. The trade deadline approaches, and the Mariners may look to add middle relievers and hitters to strengthen their roster. In terms of injuries, Brian Wu is expected to miss a couple of starts, and there have been discussions about Ryan Bliss potentially playing in the outfield for added flexibility. Overall, the team is relieved to have secured a win and is looking forward to playing better at home.

His at bat prior to Cals HR was typical Julio.....not sure why people are giving him credit for such a good AB. First pitch 5 inches off the plate inside and he swings as always. After 7 pitches I believe he had seen 2 strikes and 5 balls yet the count was 1-2. Typical Julio. The pitcher bailed him out by missing the zone so badly the rest of the at bat that even Julio didn't swing and got a walk. I would NEVER characterize that at bat as a good one. But he did battle and made it a decent at bat in the end.

Woo's injuries are just a coincidence........not connected. Just unfortunate. He will be fine once the hammy heals.

I am not an expert by any means, but I have been watching some tape on Julio. It seems to me last year, during his hot months, his front foot was flat before his load. This year, not at all times, but his front foot is up a bit before his load. Seems like a timing issue. He hits a Miller 102 fastball out of the park but behind on 98 on the regular. Its timing

For Julio, the young excuse is getting old. This is year 3 and he's making an obscene amount of money. It's mystifying that he can't recognize the pattern that repeats 5 times per day. He gets busted in with the hard stuff, then they throw junk way outside. I'd he just laid off pitches and let the count get in his favor, he'd see 3x as many hittable pitches. Something drastic needs to happen. It'll never happen but a month in tacoma would probably be helpful. No pressure, can work with hitting coaches down there, get used to the idea of spitting on pitches and calm his mind.

Julio badly needs a big bro leader on the team to look up to.I hope the M's can find that & some lineup protection for him.Poor Billionaire M' are too broke to afford that apparently 🤔 😢😅😊😊
