Yes, and the FTC ought to break Xbox away from Microsoft for potential cloud gaming/services monopoly. Breaking the Xbox away to be its own 100% independent and separate company will give it a chance to refocus on games that make people want to buy the console and give much needed competetion to Sony. It is clear as day to anyone not a complete Xbox fanboy in denial that Microsoft have stated again and again their priority and "future" is all digital I. E. Games as a service with Game Pass subscriptions. Xbox to be its own company and Microsoft can hawk its nonsense to mobile phones as a third party publisher

Most likely Microsoft will re-release the Gears 1 remake, with UE5 features, running at 4K 60FPS on PS5 Pro, to test the waters, then the rest of the Gears games will come in a similar fashion. Of course these games will also be resold on Xbox Series and launch on Game Pass. I fully expect versions of them to come to Switch 2 as well. Halo, Forza and anything else previously exclusive will come too. No doubt the PS5 version of Starfield that was in long term development before Microsoft will also come over.

Microsoft bought them, and Xbox fanboys were saying the same thing: "Apple is done for, and so is Google." What happened there? The final nail in he coffin really was the Microsoft-Activision merger. The amount of money spent is still a lot even for a trillion dollar company like Microsoft; they just couldn't handle it. Furthermore, their installed console base isn't enough to make them a substantial profit along with Gamepass. They should have honestly stopped with the Zenimax merger and consolidated those studios into Xbox as they got a great bunch of studios for what they paid. Quite honestly, I don't really care what happens to Xbox as I've really always stuck with PlayStation. PlayStation has always really been the gold standard other than Nintendo. Are they perfect? No, but they've pretty much always been consistent with their goals, hardware, and vision and are just more competently managed than Xbox. Additionally, Sony doesn't blow multiple-billions, but selectively focuses on their studio acquisitions after they have enjoyed trust and success in the second party role. Xbox is dead and is MS gaming. Furthermore, Halo is a dead series and if you want to play it than just buy MCC on PC.

The minimalistic console, the UI, VRR support for older HDMI ports, the controller, Game Pass, the backwards compatibility, and the western RPGs. I don't care if PS5 owners get to try our games. Activision cost over $70B to buy. Microsoft’s net profits last year were something like $74B. Mix that with all the other purchases and you can see why Microsoft would want to get that cash back as fast as possible. That cash could be deployed on something hot and growing like AI instead of the stagnant Xbox brand.

I'm with you DreamcastGuy. Xbox is ending itself. It's no longer really here. So releasing there games on PS5 is basically saying goodbye, we tried. We still want to be a gaming company, but we are going to have to sell our exclusives on the PS5 and the Switch in order to make enough profit.
The fact that the Dreamcast apparently sold more in the quarter it was "killed" than the Xbox managed to sell in 2024 puts things in a pretty impressive perspective. I don't think Microsoft will completely follow SEGA because Microsoft has the money and the fan base to maintain a console (handheld in the future?). But releasing everything on the most platforms possible seems to be the way to go since their own consoles simply don't sell.
IMO every popular XBox game is most likely coming to PS5 and Switch/Switch 2. Think they are really going to stop at HiFi Rush and Sea of Thieves? I doubt it, the first wave of games was most likely a test run. They know that by spreading the likes of Halo, Gears and Forza around they stand to make a ton of money.
Halo, forza and gears are all out dated games that no one cares about. These are the best Xbox has to offer and xbox is failing. These games are not good by todays standards bro, stop dreaming.
As an Xbox guy I've been saying the same thing. I have a hard time envisioning another "next generation Xbox", except for the handheld but let's be honest they will be in the same predicament as you know, Sony will also release a handheld.... I've once contacted EA support regarding a minor issue with my second most ever played game Masseffect 3 multiplayer, no one responded at all even I updated the ticket twice, my second update was quite sarcastic already. I bet no one even actually checked my ticket simply because the game is over a decade old now and doesn't make much money at all anymore, impressive customer support by Embarrassing Arts! Perhaps they should now change the name to Embarrassing Ads!
When xbox dies and takes Playstation down with, for the reason you mentioned. Lack of competition. So many gaming youtubers will have to find real work, its a loss loss honestly. My brother is a gaming youtuber, he has begun building his resume.
To be honest the X-Box one killed the brand for most peoble. That Ms was not able to release good first party exclusives and release everything on Pc and game pass day one was the final nail in the coffin. With a Pc,PS5 and Switch you can play everything. No need for an X-box anyway. Sad because the 360 was still the best console in the best generation.
I have never thought Gamepass was the greatest of ideas because of the longer term detriment it could do to the industry. Microsoft's plan of doing day and date with PC has accelerated the console's death, a lesson Sony had better learn now if they want to keep their console platform as healthy as it needs to be. Xbox publishing for other consoles is really not something i thought we'd see in 2024. It is not hard to see that Microsoft, the bigger corporate side, is not happy with Phil's Xbox model. I wonder if we see Phil Spencer resign and they get new blood in his spot to restart this new direction.

I agree, Xbox is doomed. They should have been done after the Xbox One era. My guess is that this Activision purchase was done out of complete and total desperation, and they most likely thought it was never going to materialize in the end. Now that it has, I think they have sealed their fate as a console manufacturer at the very least.
If they actually put Halo and Gears of War among others on Playstation and Switch (assuming it can handle them), then that's it, I will give up on Xbox because obviously they given up too if this actually happens.
100% Dreamcast guy is assuming all the shipped Playstations are replacing sold Playstation, despite the fact, blue states are allowing people to steal up to 999 bucks worth of goods from their stores, especially in California. He doesn't mention all the Playstation exclusives coming to Xbox, some being 1st party. And Playstation has the least secure network, and to play online they want your real id and or a face scan. I don't agree that Microsoft as a complete company will be going under because of its xbox devision but I do agree that xbox as a physical console is in its last generation. It dies worry me that digital purchases on Microsoft systems may all be erased in the next few years.
The 360 was an anormaly, Microsoft was just lucky that Sony couldn’t launch ps3 in 2005. if they did and all these early timed exclusives like Bioshock , oblivion, mass effect or dead rising and what not were also on PlayStation then no one would have bought one like the Xbox one or series consoles

No, but once you buy a console you buy games. If you don't sell consoles you cant sell games either. There is no doubt that PS and Nintendo right now are in a better position. X box seems to be betting all their horses on COD, Activision, Bethesda, and mobile games. it will make them money, but I am not sure it will deliver quality games. They might lose core gamers because of it.

Xbox has been saying for years that their intention is to get Xbox properties on all platforms. They bought these studios for their access on the PS5 and Switch. You are just now seeing their marketing strategy.

It will be very hard for me to buy any of them. Hifi was my light and I wanted to support it on the Xbox side. I guess the only game I would like from them is the Masterchief collection to revive the 360 days. You know, when Xbox was actually good.
The 360 was the last Xbox I bought and have been playing on PlayStation ever since. I miss those 360 days. I especially miss Halo. Master chief collection would be awesome
As an Xbox 360 user who then as a casual gamer switched to a PS4/PS4pro/PS5 due to the lack of compelling high quality games of interest to me on Xbox but more high quality games than I’ve time to play on PlayStation I think if Xbox does fold or go third party the writing has been on the wall for years and the real first nail in its coffin was day and date releases on PC which I’m sure cut Xbox hardware sales, though Xbox users can still enjoy all the benefits of their console like Game Pass for those who can’t afford to pay full price for games. Sony don’t have a limitless bank balance to bail them out so have to produce compelling content to attract hardware buyers and keep said content off other platforms for at least a year to maximise sales on PS. Seems after the large cost of acquiring the last few games company’s Microsoft are finally closing it’s wallet so Xbox must now stand on it’s own two feet reality’s finally kicked in.
Trust me, you don’t want Xbox to die, it’s the only thing that’s keeping Sony from putting less money into their games and making them worse, making the game shorter like turning a Spider-Man game into three separate Spider-Man games. Or constantly raising the price of games a lot faster, where a bass game will go for $59.99 to $99.99 the price of a deluxe or ultimate version.

I think they've got 1 new hardware generation left in them then xbox will just be publishing their games to everywhere they can without having to support a hardware line of their own. I think were going to see the likes of Halo on PS5, MCC on Switch 2 and other things like that, Gamepass on PC/cloud then they're earning through subscription and earning money on full prices releases on platforms that wouldn't have gamepass (ps5+Switch)
I honestly think this would be a better move for Microsoft. The company itself will always be around, but the XBOX, as an entity in and of itself, was a complete failure. I once had an XBOX when I was younger and only for one Game. Aside from that, it became a useless brick and i gave it to a friend. Other than that game, NOTHING XBOX had interested me. The Games made for it are still good and fantastic, but if those games sell better on other consoles, do THAT. It would benefit the actual Game Devs/Companies FAR better (not to mention this means I could get the few games I am interested in that was supposed to be XBOX Exclusive). This is a strange instance where if Microsoft stands its ground and keeps the XBOX going (even worse, make ANOTHER XBOX series model), it would officially become VASTLY more dumb than the prior, disastrous decisions.
Honestly if Xbox does go under I just want them to hand Hi FI Rush, Evil WIthin and all of those other IPs over to people that actually care and want to develop those games, not sit on them and hoard them.

I'm beginning to think that MS is deliberately trying to destroy the Xbox brand. There's no other logical explanation for their mind-numbingly awful business decisions.
Activision cost over $70B to buy. Microsoft’s net profits last year were something like $74B. Mix that with all the other purchases and you can see why Microsoft would want to get that cash back as fast as possible. That cash could be deployed on something hot and growing like AI instead of the stagnant Xbox brand.

I'm with you DreamcastGuy. Xbox is ending itself. It's no longer really here. So releasing there games on PS5 is basically saying goodbye, we tried. We still want to be a gaming company, but we are going to have to sell our exclusives on the PS5 and the Switch in order to make enough profit.
The fact that the Dreamcast apparently sold more in the quarter it was "killed" than the Xbox managed to sell in 2024 puts things in a pretty impressive perspective. I don't think Microsoft will completely follow SEGA because Microsoft has the money and the fan base to maintain a console (handheld in the future?). But releasing everything on the most platforms possible seems to be the way to go since their own consoles simply don't sell.

IMO every popular XBox game is most likely coming to PS5 and Switch/Switch 2. Think they are really going to stop at HiFi Rush and Sea of Thieves? I've once contacted EA support regarding a minor issue with my second most ever played game Masseffect 3 multiplayer, no one responded at all even I updated the ticket twice, my second update was quite sarcastic already. I have never thought Gamepass was the greatest of ideas because of the longer term detriment it could do to the industry. Microsoft's plan of doing day and date with PC has accelerated the console's death, a lesson Sony had better learn now if they want to keep their console platform as healthy as it needs to be. Xbox publishing for other consoles is really not something i thought we'd see in 2024. It is not hard to see that Microsoft, the bigger corporate side, is not happy with Phil's Xbox model. X box seems to be betting all their horses on COD, Activision, Bethesda, and mobile games. it will make them money, but I am not sure it will deliver quality games. As an Xbox 360 user who then as a casual gamer switched to a PS4/PS4pro/PS5 due to the lack of compelling high quality games of interest to me on Xbox but more high quality games than I’ve time to play on PlayStation I think if Xbox does fold or go third party the writing has been on the wall for years and the real first nail in its coffin was day and date releases on PC which I’m sure cut Xbox hardware sales, though Xbox users can still enjoy all the benefits of their console like Game Pass for those who can’t afford to pay full price for games. Sony don’t have a limitless bank balance to bail them out so have to produce compelling content to attract hardware buyers and keep said content off other platforms for at least a year to maximise sales on PS. Seems after the large cost of acquiring the last few games company’s Microsoft are finally closing it’s wallet so Xbox must now stand on it’s own two feet reality’s finally kicked in.
Trust me, you don’t want Xbox to die, it’s the only thing that’s keeping Sony from putting less money into their games and making them worse, making the game shorter like turning a Spider-Man game into three separate Spider-Man games. Or constantly raising the price of games a lot faster, where a bass game will go for $59.99 to $99.99 the price of a deluxe or ultimate version.

I think they've got 1 new hardware generation left in them then xbox will just be publishing their games to everywhere they can without having to support a hardware line of their own. I think were going to see the likes of Halo on PS5, MCC on Switch 2 and other things like that, Gamepass on PC/cloud then they're earning through subscription and earning money on full prices releases on platforms that wouldn't have gamepass (ps5+Switch)

The company itself will always be around, but the XBOX, as an entity in and of itself, was a complete failure.
I once had an XBOX when I was younger and only for one Game. Aside from that, it became a useless brick and i gave it to a friend. Other than that game, NOTHING XBOX had interested me.
The Games made for it are still good and fantastic, but if those games sell better on other consoles, do THAT.
It would benefit the actual Game Devs/Companies FAR better (not to mention this means I could get the few games I am interested in that was supposed to be XBOX Exclusive).

Honestly if Xbox does go under I just want them to hand Hi FI Rush, Evil WIthin and all of those other IPs over to people that actually care and want to develop those games, not sit on them and hoard them.
A game being top ranked doesn’t mean it’s selling well a game could be ranked 1 but only sell 50k copies that week
