Bulk filling a Crosman 2240/2250 isn't that hard.
Several options possible. I'll write about and show the way I converted 2300 and 2400. Links and parts list at the bottom.
Do not use compressed air, the system is built for self-regulating co2 and cannot safely handle higher pressure.
First got a CO2 extinguisher. These have a date after which they may not be re-filled anymore. The companies who supply them take them in and have to pay to dispose of them. Visit such a company, bring a bag of cookies and you may end up with a few co2 extinguishers for free. Worked for me.
If you want to fill your co2 bottle yourself you'll need said co2 fire extinguisher and a fill station to attach to the co2 fire extinguisher + a hanging scale to weigh your paintball bottle empty and full. A regular kitchen scale will do the job too. Do not over-fill a paintball bottle.
A co2 bottle can be bought at any paintball store or at gmaccustomparts.com
I use a 7 oz bottle w. on/off valve (7 oz = 199 gram)
Also available: 3.5 oz = 99 gram / 5 oz = 142 gram / 9 oz = 255 gram / 20 oz = 567 gram
How I fill my bottle:
First time weigh empty bottle and write down the weight on your fire extinguisher.
Write down the max weight of the co2 to be filled (7 oz = 199 gram) on your fire extinguisher.
Add both up and write that down too.
Outer lever of bulk fill station closed, inner lever open.
Bottle attached to fill station, on/off valve open.
Fill bottle a bit, open outer lever a while and let some co2 escape. This cools the bottle. Only a cool bottle can be filled completely.
With outer lever closed repeat filling procedure until you cannot hear co2 flow anymore.
Close the bottle's on/off valve.
Open outer lever of fill station to let the co2 escape from the hose/fill station. Noisy ;-)
Weigh full co2 bottle.
If there's a bit too much co2 in the bottle open the on/off valve and let off a bit and weigh again.
Never point escaping co2 towards a living creature to prevent frost bite!
Now your paintball bottle is full it's time to convert the Ratty to bulk fill.
Undo the 22xx'es end-cap and remove the empty 12gr co2 capsule.
The gmaccustomparts.com brass powerlet eliminater can be fitted with an elbow first, your choice. Wrap a double layer of ptfe tape around the elbow's threads anti-clock-wise and screw it into the eliminater snuggly. Then screw the eliminater into the 22xx's tube by hand. After that tighten the elbow w. a spanner making sure the exit hole is pointing down.
Screw a Quick Release Nipple 1/8 NPT into the elbow. (ptfe on threads)
Attach a remote line with slide check to the Quick Release Nipple 1/8 NPT.
Attach the other end to your bottle making sure the slide check is closed.
Open the on/off valve so the co2 can enter the system.
When done shooting close the on/off valve and dry fire a couple of times until the hose and valve are empty, after that the hose and bottle can safely be removed.
If your remote hose has a slide check there's no need to dry-fire untill empty, spimply pull back the slide check to vent the co2 which is "trapped" from valve to slide check, an easy and quick way. Don't forget there's still co2 in the hose from slide check to bottle.
If you like to discharge your Ratty outdoors in the cold, tuck the bottle inside your jacket, the co2 will stay warm and usable.
Switching to High Pressure Air is a different story and involves more work, parts and safety precautions: beware !

Yes! I went to their site and they do have the Conversion Parts to make the modification! Weird how Crosman stopped selling the one they had! Anyway, My hope is to create the "ULTIMATE CUSTOM CROSMAN 1077"! I want to find a way to have the 12oz. tank mounted under the barrel, like the Crosman mod kit had. Will keep you posted. Thanks!

A boss valve did the trick, I got mine from Gmac as getting stuff from the states means expensive shipping and a customs fee at the Dutch end

a removable cilinder thats hold 45 grams co2 or so would be more usable ,one that fits in the tube and screws tight and seals like the trow away co2 cartridge and extends the gun tube for the needed volume.
the 1077 has a very deep recess for the cylinder i would have hoped a double length/ volume cylinder would be available but evidently not.
Buy a pcp for the price of all these parts. Even in bulk they change with the weather. I left my 2240 capsule feed getting 567ish with 14.9 grain 17 full power shots. Just my opinion.

you can use hpa tank insted co2,, the output 850 psi, dosent matter if the HPA TANK say 3000 psi, that its not the output
I'd never do that, when I want to shoot hpa I use hpa designed guns, no matter what the hpa output.
@@Brutuz62 the output hpa and co2 is the same, i use hpa tank 3000 psi, 13 cc with 2240, and 3000 psi 48 cui with dpms sbr with no problem

What is the purpose of the extension through the powerlet body?Surely it is not gas tight and allows the body to pressurise..why not use the space to store CO2 ?

He's grown and left now and I fancy pimping the ratty up and having some fun on my own. How many shots will this give the gun? Is there a multi-shot magazine available for these guns, so that you don't have to draw the bolt every time and put a pellet in?
Does it have to have the bottle connected permanently or do you charge the gun? Does this increase the power of the gun at all?
so whats the FPS with that setup I'm doing the Eliminator in one 2240, has a .177 barrel 24" and the next 2240 will be .22 with a Max Flow valve using the poly tubing for TP, Thanks
can that bottle be filled with a pcp stirrup pump if not why i would be interested to know nice guns by the way i have a 2250b my self and am very happy with it i do have other guns but find the crosman ratcatcher very easy to customize

Hi. I have just gone to bulk fill. Is it ment to leak a little from the female quick release adaptor. Well i think that is where it is coming from not much but i can here it leaking?

if you drill holes in the tube between the inside valve and the cap will the outside tube work as a tank making a larger tank on the gun with no need for exterior tank

Co2 ext have a pipe that goes to the bottom, so it can stand upright when filling a bottle

I never advise switching to HPA, this 22xx platform is designed for co2 pressure. Cheapest way is to contact a fire extinguisher company. They MUST collect co2 fire extinguishers that may not be refilled anymore, they HAVE to pay a recycling company to get rid of them so instead giving you 2 of them in return for a (big) bag of cookies is very well possible. That's how I did it. Offer chocolate cookies when you call them. Ask for the maintenance dept.

I'm stateside, but just ordered from gmac. Are those fire extinguishers safe. or are they just wxpired for fire protection use.
They are safe, just not allowed to re-fill them after use anymore
You may have changed the way you fill since posting this, but I'd like to let you know the safest way to fill co2 tanks. You're supposed to weigh them AS you fill

Yes. There's adapters to fit 88gr/90gr and 7oz/9oz bulk bottles into the 1077
Dude I have been trying to work out what I need to bulk fill my XS78 and stumbled on this. It's excellent, extremely helpful and without a load of waffle. I like your style would it be possible to do a short video on the fitting names, it's confusing to a newbie some of given in imperial and some are metric. I have access to full size welding CO2 and am thinking of decanting them into sodastream which seems to be a really strange fitting. Any help with the fitting names would be appreciated.

Just upon inserting it, a thin coat. Gmac has a few how to vids on their website. But 22xx'es are like Lego, step by step and common sense should be enough. Any helping vids on CZcams are a bunus ;-)

I didn't see you "bulk fill" the gun. You ran the gun off of a remote tank. Two different things.
Replacing the quick release fitting with a fill nipple that has the 1 way fill valve will accomplish that.. How ever before storing you need to degass the lower tube

no not possible because the valve is not sealed into the tube like a QB78. The Crosman 22xx co2 caplets seal on the face of the valve. Hence this solution by Gmac shown in the video.

I totally agree. At the present moment, I think I have five of them. I am not sure because I have at least enough parts to put together two, maybe three! Three would make my total go to six. I have one tricked out CustomShop pistol with LW barrel for fancy shooting. All of the others are customized in some way. One has a 24 inch barrel, another has a cut off, no more than a 7" barrel. Two are carbines, the rest a pistols. Well, at the moment they are. When I was in high school, it was motorcycles that I wanted to customize. When I got married and had some income, it was cars I wanted to customize. Now, as an old retired guy I have more common sense and less money, I have the 2240. Who would have thought?

+tattooglisha co2 selfregulating no need to worry about values of pressure, with air there is the danger of the valve's securing screws to sheer and launch the valve from the back of the tube smack into your face. Now that's not what you are looking for eh?

+tattooglisha If you haven't already done your conversion I'd hold up. At 22.4 C (72F) CO2 has a vapor pressure of 870psi (60 bar). High Pressure air tanks are at 3000PSI minimum, often as high as 4500psi (310 bar). Which is to say a High pressure air tank without a regulator will put out many times the pressure of what anything in a CO2 system is meant to handle. I don't KNOW if this is true, but I believe if you used a regulated HPA tank (such as Ninja) they can put out between 450 and 850 psi when you adjust the regulator.
The point is at regular temperatures CO2 will probably have a max pressure of 1000psi, or whatever the burst disk pressure is. High pressure air starts at a pressure of easily 3 or 4 times that. Easy. Any part of a CO2's system will likely be destroyed if you just attach an HPA tank without an appropriate regulator. When a pneumatic system fails you'll find yourself in a potentially very dangerous position.
