"I'm the kind of guy who thinks a second hand is a bit flashy." Absolutely killed me, great vid.
He's not wrong. =P XD
A seconds hand is there just to let you know whether the watch is running ot not, since the watch is off by several seconds after a few days anyway.
@@amundbjerve None of those watches are off by several seconds after a few days.
If he's killed you, then go to the deathbed
@@robertbrowne7880 they likely will be?
This podcast style is very enjoyable. Fun, witty and most of all full of amazing information about equally amazing watches. I do hope the team brings a few Grönefeld time pieces and Christiaan van der Klauw time pieces to the tables.
I saw the grand master chime a few years ago at a Patek Philippe exhibition in London and it made all the other Patek Philippe watches there seem ordinary. It's genuinely an absolutely incredible and beautiful watch.
Was it the Patek Philippe Watch Art Grand Exhibition London? I think it was 2015?
There is no 'owners manual'. Instead, an engineer comes to live with you for 6 months to give you lessons each day on how to use it.
First time I have watched one of your podcast type videos. The two of you are a lot of fun.
Absolutely loved this installment of the series! Really enjoying the humor as well. Probably some of the watchmaking related jokes (that virtually nobody outside the niche of watchmaking will understand unfortunately). I'm still trying to figure out where the regular time is on the 57260...
"Look at the watch. That's all you need." gold
The only complications I would want is one that reminds me of my anniversary date and when my wife's period is approaching.
Just started watching. Had to pause because I can’t stop laughing about “Grand Master Chime and the Furious Five.” Seriously. Tom. Stop.
Great start. Where will you go from here?
I like the shout-out for Blackgang Chine. I used to go there a lot as a nipper in the 70’s (before it fell into the sea).
that part nearly killed me haha
Finished watching. Very good stuff. It seems that, to best Vacheron, Patek must become familiar with other international cultural traditions related to time. It would go something like this. Patek: "I see your Hebrew calendars. I raise you the Asian zodiac (including elements, e.g., Year of the Water Tiger, Fire Horse, etc.), the Asian Lunar Calendar, the Japanese and Thai calendars (based on Imperial milestones) and select but random data from the Farmers Almanac." Vacheron: **silence for 10 years**
The Patek should've had an expensive/valuable elastic strap. Would've made it so much practical and sensible. I just can't imagine taking it off everytime and rotate the case just to show it off to them watch enthusiasts. Anyway, me fav is the Vacheron! 🖤
Great stuff, informative and yet in a manner thats enjoyable, really like this format, but alongside the original!
The Bugatti Watch: "Can you rev it?" Omg I laughed so hard, thank you for that!
"Grandmaster Chime and the Furious Five" - nice one! 🤣
“But what time is it?”
“Two-ish…”
A minute repeater is the only complication I would so much love to own but clearly never can afford
Enjoying this podcast format. Dont change anything. Keep rocking.
The style of this show is great, and I’ve loved what you’ve taken looks at!
Patek with their Calibre 89 did something similar a few years ago to their 150 anniversary. Once I saw it in the Geneva museum and it is really something else.
'Bar none' - great non-underwater joke.
'A grown man wearing a suit, holding it and saying vroom vroom vroom'.... lol 😆
With the 57 260 what are my main questions is what is the maintenance schedule on something like that. This is the first video of truly showing it and it's a compilation so I'm really surprised and thank you very much
Never thought of watches in 45 yrs....now subscribed..thanks buzzies😎
The Reverso Hybris Mechanica is well balanced in terms of size and can be worn , I have tried grand master chime back to Geneva 2017 and it’s too big , the one that caught my attention is VC tour de ilie , beautiful watch in terms of guilloche dial and complications execution across the dials on both sides not to mention the outstanding moonphase looking.
“Can you rev it” and the second hand being a bit flashy made this video complete
This and the normal style videos are so good a combo. Don't stop with either!
These videos are amazing. Keep up the great work!
This is, hands down, the best and funniest video you gentlemen have ever done! While the features of some of these timepieces are mind-blowing, the prices are laughable
Having a conversation about that VC could take all day….nice video! 👍
What a great end to my Wednesday. Thank you!
Looking at these watches makes me feel I was wrong to get the no date version.
Really enjoyed this guys!
I truly appreciate the mechanical aspect of that many complications, but it's just bonkers 🙃
that Vacheron 57260 problably makes more sound than my fridge while it's running
It beggars belief how Vacheron managed to get so much into a pocket watch. Imagine what they could do if they were auto engineers 🤯
The alligator joke got me... ahahah
Please more of this podcast !
That Franck Muller with 21 hands is bonkers
The instruction manual for that 57260 pocket watch should be a leather-bound tome. What a ridiculous device- thanks for featuring it. Very much enjoying this format.
A Swiss man with an accent you can't understand actually explains it all to you and then you're on your own.
The beep at the end of the list killed me!
14:23 That 57260 is EPIC
That was a fun and informative watch. I enjoyed the jokes and the puns. I do think that showing the hosts on camera occasionally would've improved upon it though.
These would indubitably rotate, fantabulously well, every fortnight, with ANY timepiece in my horological collection. Particularly with my Casio Duro and my Timex Expedition 🤣
I have always been a $30 Timex guy. When it breaks, buy another one. Until I hit a hole in one at a charity golf event. A local jewelry were sponsoring a par 3 hole and a hole in one received a pair of Rolex men's & woman's wristwatches. They were worth about $5k each. I gave the ladies watch to my wife and kept the other. And that started my love and fascination with fine watches. Oh I still use the Timex at work because I am a mechanic and I am hard on watches, but I have my Rolex or Breitling or Grand Seiko on any other time.
Just FYI, 100,000 hours if done by one human being would be 11 years 150 days (accounting for leap years included and assuming they worked every single hour of every single day). If you want to base it on eight working hours per day and a five day per week work week then we are looking at 47 years and 307 days.
The narration of absolutely hilarious. Love your work hehe
First time I've seen a franck on your show. Great. I have one and I love it.
"You're gonna be late with this watch".
That's great... you guys are brilliant... very entertaining.
The part 2 I was dying to see but forgot about..... Could not have clicked on the notification quicker...
I have just found my most favorite watch, that has to be too expensive for me to afford, 53 complications would take me forever to figure out all the complications, I would want it set and never stopped, but thete is only one in existance, the pattick phillippe grand complications used to be my favorite but this is the most amazing piece of mechinical complicated masterpiece in its size in the world.
Excellent video topic, terrific execution 👍
Great podcast...keep it up. Great fun.
I did know that about the VC 58 complications - I had looked it up in 2021. I am proud
18:33 killed me 😂😂
The Grand Complication is a brilliant book on Graves/Packard rivalry
You guys are great! Very nice video.
Which Sludge Metal band??? Awesome.
Love your videos, especially after the shoutout to Blackgang chine 😄
I once accidentally broke the hands off a Vacheron Constantin at a Sotheby’s auction viewing. I pulled out the crown, turned it, and they just fell off! I was mortified.
🤣🤣🤣
rip
What happened after that?
@@mohammedsaif6241 - I just put it back and strolled off. Thankfully the Sotheby’s staff didn’t notice!
Wow, mortified is an understatement! The ultimate 'you broke it, you bought it' moment.
That VC is fucking wild, I genuinely couldn’t explain what half those complications do.
Thanks for the indepth video!
Unbeliveable Watches, the 57260 VC are absolute sick!
Masterpiece ever. Greatness
"It takes ages to wind" lol
Work of Art. Worthy to be in a museum.
9:09 I thought that too, Wes Anderson influence
I'm generally not a big fan of complicated watch faces (I currently rock a cheap Bertucci A1R, which I chose for its brutal pragmaticism) but the Patek Philippe is the first time I've seen a watch face that has more than just Hours and Minutes that doesn't look too bad.
I agree that hours, minutes and seconds are one complication, the time.
But oddly day/date/month feel like they should count as 3 separate complications.
The thing that leaves me speechless every time I see it is the Michael Angelo's Pieta. Would be great if the owner of a watch like this would/could put it on display.
So a mad Australian can smash it with a hammer?
Great video guys
KEEP THESE VIDEOS COMING
🤯 Just incredible!! Great show. I'd take the ridiculous Bugatti - pointless but awesome!
Thanks Gentlemen 👏🏻👏🏻👍🏻👍🏻
Excellent show, folks. You have committed the sin of elevating the discourse.
Could you do an episode of affordable chronograph next please?
At 01:10, the near-dropping of an expensive watch and the story of workmen destroying a Steinway piano remind me of two incidents of violins meeting tragic ends. There was an account by a virtuoso violinist, who finally managed to save enough money to buy a million dollar Stradivarius violin. He then opted to keep the Stradivarius in a "soft" violin case [violin cases come in the "hard" or "soft" variety; soft cases protect against moderate bumps; the "hard" cases offer full protection]. Sure enough, after a winter rehearsal there was ice on the ground, causing him to slip on some outdoor stairs, and he ended up sledding down the stairs seated on the soft violin case. The Stradivarius was reduced to "splinters". At least this probably increased the value of the remaining Stradivarius violins. And then there was a woman who was a violinist for a major orchestra, whose expensive violin got caught outside the doors of a subway train she had just boarded. She decided to hold onto her violin until the next subway stop. Tragically, this resulted in her arm being torn off by some obstacle, and probably the destruction of the expensive violin. I guess the moral of these stories is to get your priorities straight and think carefully about the risks you are taking.
wait what? "I started watchfinder 10 years ago…" I?
don't think it's only a matter of how many complications but also how difficult and useful they are and the size of the case... for example
15:02 = INSANE !!! I LOVE IT !!!!!!!!!!!!
You could look at the Lord Arran watch created by Frank Muller and Paul Gerber. It is based on a Piguet calibre and, in its day, it was the most complicated wristwatch in the world.
Please review the new Leica watches and Moritz Grossman. You guys are fabulous!
I’d like to know how much it’ll cost for a routine periodic maintenance for that VC pocket watch?
The Marie Antoinette No160 by Breguet needs a mention.
So, you let your VC 57260 wind right down. How long to reset it all?
I love the podcast format - are there any plans to make a real podcast in the future? Like audio-only?
Amazing engineering. I wonder how many they’ve made of this model?
I can't hear high registers either, but I was Field Artillery.
Damn, saw the thumbnail for a second and thought you got your hands on a Grandmaster Chime
Vacheron Constantin has been moving up in the popular scene of most desired watches for a while now, there’s a waitlist for just about every Overseas model.
Vacheron has made some incredible pieces. So has longines , omega and and others. Excluding Jacob and co. A real wheel dealer. Farms everything out. But made a fortune from bholes long live pre 80s mechanics and quartz. Timex ironman rules. . Bang for the buck..
That 57260 - wow - me want one.
Any on Ebay?
Seagull (the 1950 Chinese watch company) makes a grand complication watch (moonphase, gyroscopic tourbillon, perpetual calendar, minute repeater, et cetera, et cetera.) for about the price of $250k.
you would literally need to buy extra links to strap a 36mm president/datejust/etc around the walls of that VC pocket watch
A really beautiful Patek
Pure Art
In terms of bonkers complications, the Jaquet Droz Charming Bird takes some beating
arghh man this is the best one yet..
The grand complications are amazing. You can hear it’s critics already. “It’s chunky” 😂
Now I want that Chiron watch!
8:39 freakish ears on a stand for all of the audiophilic fans of dankpods
everytime i see the microphone, i thought i was rick rolled
You forgot to mention the VC 57260 has a whopping 242 jewels, that's gotta be a record as well.
