  • Learn how to remove and replace the blades on a Greenworks dual blade battery powered electric lawn mower. This mower is similar to other brands like Kobalt and Ego. It's easy to over-torque your blades since one is a left-hand thread.
    Try a beam style torque wrench for those left hand nuts amzn.to/3uYfZ3W
    Check out @Baldeagle242 video on all manner of fixing a battery powered mower from wiring, switches, motors, and everything else in between: • Simple Battery Powered...
    The tools I like and use most often:
    Magnetic spark plug socket set: amzn.to/3CzmpvO
    Tachometer: amzn.to/3sHibiH
    Vessel Megadora JIS screwdriver set: amzn.to/363RFqO
    Channellock Bent Needle-nose pliers: amzn.to/3I5DbnA
    Long 1/4 Quick-connect Torx Driver Bits: amzn.to/3HUNgnm
    Spark Tester: amzn.to/3CxW2qi
    OTC Leak-down Test Kit: amzn.to/3CyUhJn
    Compression Tester: amzn.to/3IWd6sp
    Wear your safety glasses, or you'll put your eye out. Try on some gloves. Take off that spark plug boot. Clean your room. Open the windows, those fumes are nasty. Just 'cause I do it, don't think it's the end all, be all solution. There's plenty more ideas out there, I can't take responsibility if you slice off a few fingers after watching my videos. And don't just pour that toxic stuff down the sewer or in the ditch, dispose of waste responsibly. Just be safe, OK?

    Great instructional video Stella. Ive never had the opportunity to work on a battery powered mower yet. Im a flipper so i dont flip battery powered mowers. They usually end up for sale in my area when the batteries are done for. Batteries are very expense, so i dont mess with them. Keep the camera rolling Stella, your doing great.🎥😉 Roger

    Does anyone know if the left motor is actually truly different than the right motor? Part 36101486B is advertised as the LEFT motor. Part 36101486C is presumably for the right motor. Greenworks told me the new number ends in the letter A - but the advertisements to not indicate left or right. So I'm confused. My Blade 2/right blade is not turning.

    • @TheLawnmowerLady
      @TheLawnmowerLady  Před 3 lety

      No doubt Mr Rooster. People throw these away at the drop of a hat when they develop battery issues, likely due to not bothering the OM to understand recommended charging practices. I've picked up a few from people who go back to combustion mowers after they feel they're getting burned on battery replacements.

    I got the blade to spin again by spraying it with wd40. i also sprayed the cooper section located on the motor. The blade spins great but now the mower wont start. Was it a bad idea to spray it with WD 40, i sprayed it from the bottom?

    • @TheLawnmowerLady
      @TheLawnmowerLady  Před 4 měsíci

      WD-40 displaces water. It should dissipate. Not sure I understand what you mean by spraying it from the bottom. Double check you didn't disconnect any wires/terminals when you were up under there. I have used WD-40 on my antique motorscooter stator plates when I've been riding in the rain, and spark/ignition gets dodgy.

    How crucial is tightening the nut with a tool like you have? I don’t have anything like thst

    • @TheLawnmowerLady
      @TheLawnmowerLady  Před 2 lety +2

      Thanks for watching Mr Lefty! Tightening that nut is only crucial to the extent that over tightening can break or shear off the motor shaft, or deform the plastic/nylon bits that could create vibrations. Engineers design the size of fasteners within a specific torque range: tight enough to keep a sharpened slab of steel from flying off while spinning at 2500-3000 RPM: yet not too tight to deform or break off the parts they attach.
      Many consumer chain auto parts store offer "free" tool rental ( You leave a deposit equal to the purchase price, which is fully refunded when you return the tool) The particular beam-style torque wrench I used is appropriate for torque on left hand threads. The very inexpensive clicker-style torque wrenches are not as well calibrated, and have a larger range of inaccuracy, than more expensive ones. Additionally, most all clicker styles are not at all accurate with left hand threads.

      While a piece of wood took care of the blade to turn, I ended up using a flat screwdriver to keep the square washer down locked. At last. :) 😅

    • @TheLawnmowerLady
      @TheLawnmowerLady  Před 5 měsíci

      It sounds like the entire assembly is sitting proud on the motor shaft. Maybe keyed washer is not set fully on the flats of the motor shaft? Any chance the bushing were removed and put back in the wrong orientation? Ensure the square washer is sitting in the square nylon spacer fully.

    • @TheLawnmowerLady
      @TheLawnmowerLady  Před 4 měsíci

      I hate to say, but likely that motor, or the bearings in it are shot. Do check the connections between the battery terminals and the motor. Bad/loose connection could cause the motor to overheat and shutdown, but it should not make the motor shaft hard to turn. Wish I could be more helpful.

      Sorry that happened to you. -There are some good bolt and screw extractors out there. I would try something like this first: --amzn.to/3u4nKqJ-- Unfortunately 15mm falls squarely between 9/16" and 5/8" I wish you luck getting those bolts out.-
      Oh, wait. Those bolt extractors won't work on the lefthand threaded bolt. If you haven't completely rounded off the bolt heads. Try tapping an impact socket onto the bolt with a small hammer. That might allow you to get enough grip to turn it. Impact sockets are actually softer than regular sockets to help absorb impacts. Trying to grip the bolt with vice-grips or pliers will likely just round off the bolt head more. I wish I could be more helpful.
