This week we arrive in one of the quirkiest and remote towns in South Australia, Coober Pedy!
Known as the opal capital of the world, and famous for its incredible underground dwellings, this place is like no other we’ve visited! We find the perfect base at an awesome Hipcamp property, overlooking the vast outback, and enjoy a number of free events as part of the annual Opal Festival including a night at the drive in theatre to watch the famous Australian blockbuster The Adventures of Priscilla: Queen of the Desert (which was filmed on location in Coober Pedy!).
Plus we enjoy a fantastic half day tour with Nobel Tours Australia to experience the best of Coober Pedy underground, including a drive out to the spectacular Breakaways!
Let us know your travel recommendations and if you have any questions or comments, pop them below. We look forward to seeing you next week for another family travel road trip adventure!

We are an ordinary Australian family, creating extraordinary experiences. We've taken a leap of faith, packed up our lives, said goodbye to the 9-5 grind and hello to 24/7 - life as a traveling family!
Being complete caravanning newbies, we are hoping the experiences we share through our Family Travel Australia series will not only have an educational element, but will inspire you to take your own leap of faith, get outdoors and make memories that will last.
We live by the mantra "You don't need to see the whole staircase, just take the first step!"

A beautiful message thank you Julie x
My dad drove roadtrains from Adelaide to Darwin and back for 20 plus years ❤️❤️❤️
Wow, he will have had some incredible experiences on that road!!
A special "Cooking with Katie in the Thermi" episode would be amazing!

Hi, so glad you enjoyed Coober Pedy, including the Drive In, what an awesome place to visit. We were there 2 years ago, can't wait to go back. Take care, stay safe, Cheers.
Cheers BigKev! What an awesome experience Coober Pedy is 👍
This video has bought back some great memories we've done up and down the centre twice and loved it, so sad it was raining both times we have had beautiful weather. We we're in Alice when the Beanie Festival was on and we didn't know and didn't book ahead and had trouble finding accommodations, would never thought in the middle of Australia you would have a Beanie Festival lol, safe travels
Haha, that is so true re:Beanie Festival but geez it has been chilly at night!!
I LUV AUSTRALIA 🇦🇺, GOD BLESS AUSTRALIA 🇦🇺, Always n forever 😊
Loved outback Queensland’s outback and am loving this heart of Australia trip❤️
Thank you Celia, it is truly more amazing the more we see!! Where is your favourite place in Aus?

Hi guys another great episode, we are adding Coober Pedy to our must visit list !! However we were very disappointed that we did not get to see Katie’s reaction to the “Great Tissue Disaster of ‘21” 🤣🤣
You have to admire Jasper’s logic, it was unassailable!!

Cheers Dave and congratulations on the new van!! See you down the road somewhere 👍
Another great episode, thanks. I have just noticed you now have a UHF radio antenna. What UHF did you go for?
Hi Robert, we opted for a GME with the unit hidden behind the dash so it doesn’t stick out. 👍
Lovin this episode.
Can you please tell me how you have hung your hats on the wall next to your bed. I have been looking for something to hang our hats with.
Hi Catherine, we use different types of ‘command hooks’ brand. You can purchase at Bunnings 👍😊

Coober Pedy Views 💙💙💙
We were suppose to leave Sydney tomorrow but here we are stuck in lock down. I am sure those are in the same boat as us will the same. Thank you for showing us Cooper Pedy, give me more reason to stay there longer instead of a stop over or overnight.
Bugger and take care guys! If you can get on Aaron’s Tour (Noble Tours Australia) do it!!
@@TheFeelGoodFamily I think we might skip it for next year. We are still in Sydney m, stuck in lockdown. We do not know when we can get on the road 😭.
Feeling for your guys and sending our feel good vibes 💙
@@TheFeelGoodFamily thank you.
These episodes are so good. Your subscriber numbers should really start to grow quickly. Would love to see a mid-week episode. Doesn’t even need to be a polished episode. Maybe just a rough cut of stuff and out-takes. 7 days between episodes is way too long!
Haha!! Thank you... so much editing time with these ‘double length’ eps at the moment.... we could do a fortnightly midweek ‘LIVE’...?! Not sure how but can check that out, do you think that would be worthwhile? Thanks again 😊
@@TheFeelGoodFamily hmm, not sure if the Live thing would work yet...we save the Sunday episode till last thing once all the kids are in bed so we can watch and enjoy in piece so going live, we would still save the episode to watch later. Maybe do a poll on what viewers would like to see more of in between weekly episodes? A monthly “ask the Feel Goods anything” episode?
Great suggestion!
How does the music from Spotify work on your videos? Does the Sporify subscription allow you to use the music?
They are only citing the music in the video, but credits in the description show where they source music legally for commercial use.
Hi Peter, we pay a Commercial Music
License through Epidemic Sound and that gives us permission on the music we choose (through a specific verified library) each episode. We generally spend 2 hours each week finding the ‘right’ track for each segment 💙😊
Welcome to NT wherever you are now! If you need hints exploring The Top End let me know.
Thank you Janet! We’d love any and all your recommendations from Alice Springs north. We are so looking forward to exploring more of the NT!
@@TheFeelGoodFamily We haven’t actually explored between Alice and Tennant Creek yet but heard Devils Marbles before Tennant is a must see and The Pebbles are north of Tennant. If you can fit all this in your itinerary you’ll be doing well 😂 Daly Waters, Larrimah (The Pink Panther) Mataranka Springs, Bitter Springs, Katherine Gorge, Katherine Springs, Edith Falls, Pine Creek and Adelaide River ( so much history at these two towns), Robin Falls, Litchfield and Kakadu are another whole story of so much to see.
Thank you! So much to see!!
Do you feel the cold Paul with your jacket on whilst driving? Lol
Only when it’s below 15c 😅🙏
15 dollar water @ mataranka and exmouth....ouch!
It hurts doesn’t it! 🤦🏼
That background music beat is so annoying
Thank you for letting us know 🤣
