    Hi, Yes as you said we are all watching our weighs, but if you carry empty containers on the truck and when you have parked the van and you go some where sight seeing you can then collect 40 or 60L of water on the return to the van. Safe travels

    • @TheFeelGoodFamily
      @TheFeelGoodFamily  Před rokem

      Great advice 👍😎 we are hoping to get weighed soon once the canopy completed so will ask this question also with weight check expert to confirm if possible “does an empty container’s full capacity weight get added to your weight (no matter if empty or not) if you were weighed by transport authority/police roadside check?”

    I use the 18v ryobi transfer pump. Easier by a long stretch. Battery operated and uses bugger all battery for transferring. I have a 70lt bladder in my 100 series Cruiser plus 2 jerry can on the rear wheel carrier and I just move the hose from the bladder to the jerry cans. 110 litres back in the caravan easy as. No need to carry around battery boxes with battery's and water pumps in or needing to connect up to your car batteries or auxiliary batteries.

    Sooo… keep the starlink cable if you haven’t already ditched it. There is a way to convert the ends to rj45 connectors. You can then have an rj45 port installed somewhere appropriate on your van allowing you to connect the antenna to the port on the outside, and the modem to the port on the inside…. No more running cables through open windows…. Personally, we just shove ours up through the larger roof window, mod3m and antenna, then run an extension cord off the roof. The modem is pretty waterproof (same rating as dishy). Just a thought….

    • @Jenni-om9ct
      @Jenni-om9ct Před rokem

      @@TheFeelGoodFamily The RJ45 is an 8 wire IT cable, and I believe (but could be wrong) that the starlink cable also has 8 wires. So long as both cables matched, it would really matter what order they were connected. That said, I did hear tell on the grapevine that starlink went and sneaky'd their cable to make it a little proprietary. It might have some kind of special shielding that prevents it from working if that shielding is broken. ????

    Really like the pump, I made 3 of these over 10 years ago, bad on me as I didn't not make it as a product to sell, the idea was for my father-in-law to help with water filling and long stay. A few pointers and improvements for you, add a simple switch in line so you can turn the pumps on and off without the hassle of going back to the main power source. Get a simple filter to go between the out hose and your tank inlet, B.E.S.T water filters are good, this makes sure the water you are adding is pre filtered and your Van tanks remain clean. Use a different color cable tie so you can mark the dept of the jerry can you're pumping from, helps you get to the bottom quick and easy.

    There is no blow out safety valve for the Webber yet but the ziggy does have one apparently the only legal type must be attached to the BBQ not the caravan , when I asked my insurance company that was the information they have been using and their policies reflect that.

    Hi guys, that was rough. That mower certainly gave the Starlink cable a real good old trim. Old school nearly always comes through well done to that guy who sourced the replacement cable. The Weber mod is a Flame Failure Device controlled by a thermocouple, a button is held in on FFD for 10-15 seconds until the thermocouple gets hot, producing a small voltage keeping the flow of gas to the burner. I think an electric barbie would be OK in good sun ,but at night, the barbie would be hard on the batteries I would think 1000 watts +. We will be at the show in June and could show you a couple photos of the Weber.

    I really enjoy watching people from my area go to other places near my area for a short break or extended. Makes a difference to watching people in other parts of the world do things aligned with other parts of the world and not specific to Qld or even SE Qld in particular. But just getting back to the water thing. If you carry the extra water you have to short on other stuff you carry because we are all bordering on illegal weights most of the time with what we carry. I would have to think very hard about what I would leave behind so I can carry extra water.

    Thanks for sharing. I'm curious though as to your suggestion of using the Anderson at the back of your Zone for the pump connection. As a Zone owner I know that that input (it is red in colour for a reason) is for an external solar input (blanket or fold up panel) and connected to the input of the DC-DC charger or solar charger, and therefore cannot and should not be used as a power outlet to run a pump. That is, unless your Sojourn has been wired specially to be a regular 12V output.

    • @TheFeelGoodFamily
      @TheFeelGoodFamily  Před rokem +1

      Thank you for pointing that out Chris, in our manual it suggests that it is ok to use for power out for the pump but I will double check with Zone and come back to you with a definite answer 👍 we personally have been using the 12v plug adaptor version for transfer as this is easier for us to access 😊 I believe it may be a new addition to their vans to include a Grey Anderson plug at the water fill points so that you can use a pump with Anderson adaptor

    • @chrisdietzel6485
      @chrisdietzel6485 Před rokem

      @@TheFeelGoodFamily Maybe they have changed it on yours as you have so much solar on your roof, but normally it's a red plug on the van and can only be an input to the solar regulator. All I am pointing out here is maybe your video will be misleading to people that know the Zone.

    • @TheFeelGoodFamily
      @TheFeelGoodFamily  Před rokem

      Thanks for letting me know - I have checked out our Zone Sojourn manual and it is recommended as the correct Anderson point to power the water pump as it is located next to the water fill points 😊 I’ll update in another episode that all vans are different and it is up to the user to check their Anderson connection with their manual or manufacturer- that should help make clear for all - thanks for double checking 👍🍻
