When it comes to travel in Australia, you'd always hear big names like Sydney, Melbourne, or Perth. Adelaide was never really mentioned from friends so I decided to dig deeper, and found this ONE reason that made me pull the plug to visit Adelaide and Kangaroo Island.

WOW. Can we talk about the cinematography? SO GOOD. The angles, the filter, the perfect mix of footage - animal, scenery, them. And how are adorable are they walking everywhere holding hands? Well done. Thanks for the video.
Adelaide/South Australia might be a little more toned down and not as flashy as Sydney or Melbourne, but there's still more I've not covered and I'll be back to do what I set out to do!
Great video and i live in adelaide. What type of camera did you use ?
Not as flashy as Melbourne? Melbourne is an old pile of junk lmao. Adelaide & surrounds is one of the nicest locations in Australia.
As an alternative, you can also swim with dolphins at Port Adelaide.
Bro you missed out on sooooo many beaches within 20 minutes of each other, look up Maslin, sellicks, Myponga, Vuctor Harbour etc next time you are here!
Add Cleland wildlife park if you actually want to touch and feed kangaroos and koalas and other animals,
Mount lofty summit for views of Adelaide/trekking, Hahndorf (German village)
And if you have a couple of extra days check out mount gambier!
I live in Adelaide and I thought you did a great job encapsulating the feel of the city and the countryside. Everything looks different in summer, and I think although not as busy winter/spring is a nice time to come here.
Means a lot, thank you!
Has been following Shawn for a while and he's one of the most underrated utubers around. Keep up the good work.
Means a lot 🙏🏻 glad to have ya’all around through these times
The food are wine in Adelaide are first rate. 10/10. Beautiful part of the world.
Best travel vlog I’ve seen, just stunning, informative and I love how much you enjoyed the trip. Thank you
Im an Adelaidian. I agree with the others, best travel video I’ve seen. Editing, footage and vibe. Nailed it.
I live in Adelaide now ... cities I have lived for extended periods include Vancouver, BC, Melbourne and HEAPS in between , even near Houston Tx, and have always been happy, even loved them, but it is Adelaide's low-key, dependable high quality living that I love best.
The scenery away from Adelaide is magnificent, but does involve longer distance travelling.
Thank you for your enthusiastic, joyful response.
Am so sorry Kangaroo Island let you down ... again ... a family place for me.
Try Port LIncoln and sharks underwater next time.
:)

Have always been searching for some reason to visit this underrated region. Your video showed us more reasons to visit. Great video! 👍🏼
Glad to know that! Very non touristy and quiet. I’ve also heard good things about Eyre peninsula which I’ll def be back for
I have been fortunate enough to travelled to quite a few places, in both hemispheres, yet one of my favourite holiday destinations is still Kangaroo Island. As a South Australian I’ve visited K.I. 15-20 times over the past 30+ years and highly recommend it - for the stunning scenery, wonderful wildlife, talented artists and artisans, delectable food and wine, friendly locals and peaceful surroundings.
If you want authentic cuisine, nature and chill vibes - it’s a standout!
Not to mention the amazing architecture and wine.
Adelaide = a perfect blend of Europe and Oz.
Unlike any other city ❤
Thank you for taking us on this trip with you! Killing it as usual! - Brian
Thank you Brian 👊🏻
It is a really nice to see South Australia with you guys.
Great film.I really enjoyed tagging along on your holiday.
Hey Shawn, just wanna say it again- me and my partner have always enjoyed your videos, always so cinematic and enjoyable to watch! Hope you enjoyed your trip.
Oz oz oz oi oi oi! 😊
Dang, and I’d always appreciate these comments! Glad to know that mate 🙌🏻
Great travel vlog! Always great to see my hometown!
Discovered you for the first time! We live on the Fleurieu Peninsula not too far from McLaren Vale. Singapore is one of my husbands and i favourite countries and we love supporting Singaporians!! So heartbroken for you when your seal encounter was cancelled. I hope you can come back. Adelaide and the Peninsula has so so so much to offer. Look forward to watching more from you and your beautiful wife. Nicole x
Thank you Nicole :) I’ll definitely be back someday to fulfill this bucket list!
Thanks for this beautiful cinematic vlog! Great job mate!
Thanks a ton!
Another fantastic video Shawne!
Woo thanks Elizabeth!
Great video mate! You sure took me on a journey there. Loved the dolphin scene at the end.
Very nicely captured
1 min in and I LOVE ITTTT! Keep slaying shawne!! 🤩
Whew awesome! Appreciate it man 🙌🏻
❤What a stunning production
Impressive research and a very organized itinerary!
A great stay of my home state. I am very surprised i didn't see a trip with you going to the whispering wall also on your stay over here, none the less looks like you picked a good time to come and visit and have been able to enjoy SA for what its good for.
That’s some beautiful videography. I’m looking to visit South Australia around 3 months
Really miss Adelaide. A very beautiful, comfortable, safe city. I want to visit Adelaide again, may God bless my family to visit Adelaide ❤❤❤❤❤
Absolutely awesome travel vlog! Always unsure if should I visit Adelaide, but thanks to your video.. I will 👍👍👍
Thank you! It’s not the most flashy place, and there’s still more out of Adelaide that I’d like to explore
Wow. Tears came to my eyes when I saw the dolphins at the end. Great video even and sorry to hear that you didnt get your top wishlist there!
Yeah sucha beautiful sendoff :’) I’m determined to check this off one day
I really enjoy your vlogs showing us beautiful places of Adelaide and beaches nice video both of you enjoying eating
Very good video! I like your style and editing. I visited KI in 2019 before the fires and it's so good to see it looking so lush ❤
Thank you! Yeah it's crazy to know how fast nature recovered
Australian forests always ‘recover’ quickly from fires. Many eucalypts actively encourage burning. What was unprecedented about these fires was that it was EVERYWHERE ALL AT ONCE; the ‘recovery’ isn’t particularly remarkable. The trees have come back, but a lot of animals died because they couldn’t run to somewhere else. About a 3rd of the total wild koala population in Australia was wiped out, for example. There’s been no recovery in that sense…
As a Queenslander I really enjoyed your video. It's great to see unspoiled country.
Loved it!!
👊🏻
I'm heading over to Adelaide for work and after watching your video; maybe i'll do some touristy things too! Love your sense of humour and cadence! (Auspicious, Purple botanic garden and steroid zoo??) Still cracking over those! God bless you both!
Stunning footage of the dolphins in the water. Took my breath away.
One day hopefully, I’d get to swim with them!
This video just got recommended to me by the algorithm. I live in Adelaide, and your depiction of the city is absolutely spot on, so thank you for such an excellent video!
(P.s. That accent at Monarto Zoo sounds more South African than Aussie 🤣)
Thank you! I’ll need more work on my aussie accent 💪🏻
Get it right mate - it's SARTH EFRICA... 🤣🤣🤣
@@shawneydepp or just dont its offensive to most of us aussies especially the older generation
We had our club crew world championship (dragonboat race) in West Lakes, Adelaide.
Cool, quiet, and very calm city!
love it!!
Thanks Adrian!
Just came across your channel, Shawn… great vlog.. subscribed!
Appreciate it, thank you!
i love your attempt at the aussie accent. loved the video very entertaining my friend :D
I’ve lived in Adelaide for a few years, and yeah.. I still haven’t been to Kangaroo Island. Couldn’t justify the expense for the ferry. But your video has kinda given me a kick to reconsider :)
Bro, idk if anyones told u this but your videography skills are too good just for YT. Tbh makes me wanna book a flight here asap!!!
Flattered, thank you so much 🙏🏻 it’s not the most flashy destination, but a very beautiful and quaint one!
what a great review of South Australia and Kangaroo Island. Its been over 30 years since ive been to S.A. and Ive never been to Kangaroo Island. Besides the outrageous costs on the island, and that ferry cost.. OMG it certainly has come back after those terrible fires. Saying that.. you can take a car on a ferry from Sorrento to gorgeous Queenscliffe for only $79 or just $34 return per adult. Ive subscribed, so I hope your going to go on more road trips or visit places
Appreciate it! Yeah I still can’t make sense of the car ferry costs
Where is the ferry you mentioned from sorrento to queenscliff? Is that also in South Australia?
Just subscribed because I love your videos! Can I ask what month you went to Germany? We are going mid October and can’t wait, definitely hitting the Black Forest🥰
Appreciate much 🙌🏻 I went to Germany in late Oct/beg Nov. Your timing should be good :)
Really enjoyed watching you both, with your joking and your facts, video quality great😅. Thank you
Great video 👍
Of all the travel blogs about SA on youtube, yours is the best. Well done. (By the way, if I was diving with the seals, I would keep an extra eye out for that large fish called a shark!)
Thanks for the huge compliment 🙏🏻 I assume it’ll be safe if done with a tour
Wow. Amazing.
Newby to your channel. That was a fun and fresh travel video, and the dolphin footage at the end - chef’s kiss! Come back to swim with the Great White Sharks next time! And check out Flinders Ranges too. (I shouldn’t try to sell South Australia, I might get kicked out of Victoria) 👍
😂👍🏻 looking forward to be back!
Always love your videos, so much effort in there!!
Appreciate it man. Always worth the extra bit!
my partner and I stayed at this same Airbnb when we went to KI a while back, how funny! One of the owners actually works at Seal Bay, we went to Seal Bay before we arrived at the Airbnb, then when we met them we realised we had met before! Small world (small island!). Such a great spot and the owners are so lovely.
Woww what a small world! Didn’t get to meet the owners unfortunately as they were away, but they were really helpful and I could feel the genuine energy around the neighbourhood
Cool...
... loved seeing all the animals!

I'm incredibly hungry now for pasta for some reason. Let's eat! 🍝👍👍
underrated
LETS GO ADELAIDE!!!
New subscriber here! Wow the videography is amazing 👌
Thanks a lot!
Hi sorry but is it possible for you to share a detailed itinerary for this trip? Like the prices of the activities you do, the place you stay and etc.
1:10 humbleness is key.
I wish i met you here 😢 this is the first video I watched in your channel.
I'm from Adelaide/south Australia 😅
Everything in this vid is pretty standard to Aussies. Those prices for the restaurant for pasta are a bit "exie", but then again, ultra fancy place/celeb chef/been on tv etc etc. Normal Aussie restaurant at the moment is 30 to 45 mains, 20 to 35 for pasta mains etc etc. Most people here might go to a place like that "because they saw it on tv"; then go back to the places they normally go...............
The ferry to KI. Ferries are expensive, most people will fly somewhere, hire a car there. I have been to Tassie (from Melb) a few times on the ferry, it was cheaper to hire a car when you got there. Even cheaper to fly and then hire a car. I am in Perth, and used to go to Rottnest island all the time when I was a kid, but haven't been there for 20 years, as the ferry is so expensive.
"Kangaroo Island is HUGE!!!" - everything is relative. We look at Australia, and no, by comparison, not very big. Being from Perth, but worked all over Oz, I have driven Perth to Melb or Sydney return a dozen times, and you drive all day and STILL not outside of Western Australia, so distances in Australia are vast.
Kangaroos are good and bad. As above, I have driven across Oz a dozen times, never hit a roo. 6 months ago, a 60 kg roo came out of nowhere 1 km from my outer suburb house, I hit it at 80 kmh, wrote off my car. None in the city (obviously) but can get them in suburbs that are next to bushland.
Chinese friends of mine went to KI, loved it.
It really sucked that they cancelled the seal swim. I have done that here at Seal island, you used to be able to do it here, but don't know about now. Here it isn't organised, you just go there (or used to). You aren't allowed on or within so far of the island, (sanctuary), but you are (or were then) allowed to stop a certain distance away, and when I went there, some seals came out and swam around us.
Great to see people experiencing what we "just call home". Things are relatively expensive here, because we have a high standard of living/high wages.
Cheers. 🙂
amazing
Really good videography :D So would you recommend Adelaide?
Wonderful 😊
if you ever come back to Adelaide hit us up and we can take you to some awesome animal parks where you can get up close and personal with all kinds of native fauna
I am watching from Japan and interested in Adelaide!!
I'm from Adelaide living in Japan haha
@@TBoneSan I'm going to go to Adelaide next year haha
@@iitscoffee I hope you enjoy it. It has a lot to love. Especially if you want a slower pace of life. I would like to move back one day.
@@TBoneSan Great to hear!! I hope you enjoy your time in Japan too!
😍u just inspiredn me to continue my filming ...
The price of the car ferry is insane!! Wow! Definitely shocked me!! 😮
Yeah couldn’t believe it when we saw the prices 🫠
Kangaroo island needs to be on the national highway network. That way the ferry will be subsidised, just the Spirit of Tasmania.
theres a style of oster where you eat it with bacon and maybe soy sauce it's a must try
I'm so sorry you haven't been able to go swimming with the seals!! I'm with you, they are so fat and cute and fluffy that I just want to take one at home 😂. Thank you for this video, we will be in Adelaide in a few days and this was really usefull!
Don’t need to be sorry! It is what it is haha. Have a great one in Adelaide and SA :)
Lovely video!! By the way, Do we need a permission to flying a drone on Kangaroo Island (except the national parks)? I will visit there next week.. can't wait😀
Thank you! Don’t need any permission as long as you’re not in any national park. Have a great one :)
I live in adelaide and can testify fugazzi is straight gas
It is a city that has had an abundance of migration from England. Come if you must, but be prepared for the experience!
Have you tried pie flotter
Nice Video 🤩. What is the name of the institution that provides swimming services with dolphins there? I want to go to that island next month.
You can check out either Kangaroo island marine adventures or Ocean Safari
South Australia is all about cheap wine, great cheap food & nature.
Thank you for visiting us !! 👍😆
Outstanding quality video BTW
Your Aussie accent needs work tho' LoL 😂
So sorry you didn't get to swim with the seals and dolphins. ☹️
cheap wine, great cheap food? no, its not cheap to eat or drink at all, its probably one of the more expensive places in the world
@@Lupi33z Are you crazy ? Or have you got zero idea of the world ?
90% of South Aussie restaurants have main courses for US$10-15 !
As for wine, you can get a world class bottle for under US$20.
For a western country, thats really cheap !
when was the last time you visited?@@edwardfletcher7790
It's never chill with shawneydepp, said the wife
Lol
🫢
Note for me: 0:00 - 1:00 great video edit for example
Hi I’m from Melbourne, which camera and lens did u used??
Hey details in the description. Main camera is the sony a7siii
Cleland Wildlife Park should have been on your agenda. These are the others Swim with Wild Dolphins near Port Adelaide, Haighs Chocolate Tour near the city at Parkside but you have to book.
The Kangaroo Island Ferry should have cost you $240 return for your car and I thought that included one adult and for one adult it $118 returned. Yes, I think it's pricey and hence why not many people go on it.
Seals bite and their breath stink like off fish. lol
Wallaby
So sorry you couldn't do the swim with dolphins and seals. I think when operators does that crap to tourists is sooooo wrong.
So glad you guys enjoyed adelaide despite your cursed room number 😂
Hahaha 👍🏻 maybe it was a curse for me to not swim with the seals
Give us a reason to visit Adelaide. Thanks
If you enjoy wine, good food, lesser crowds. But the bigger cities e.g. melbourne sydney def has more going on imo
Went to school in Adelaide in 1964-66
Hey what luggage do you use
Just bought a national geographic cruise PC luggage
It is so interesting that we both landed at Adelaide Airport but we went to TOTALLY DIFFERENT PLACES! the only overlapping place was Adelaide Central Market hahaha. Adelaide indeed has a lot to offer and often being underrated!
My vlogs are here: czcams.com/video/3e7DDb6hF0o/video.html
Everyone KEEP OUT of my paradise!
The seals are so cuteeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee
Had to bring one home 🫠
I'm an Australian who visited Adelaide just last week for the very first time. Over the past 50 odd years I've travelled the world and the Australian east coast from Port Douglas to Phillip Island. The Adelaide Hills were a wonderful surprise, even if Hahndorf did get to only 12C with drizzle. I flew in so didn't get to visit the Barossa Valley. Adelaide city looked rather run down. It remined me of a mini Melbourne but lacking civic pride in building maintenance. Rundle Mall was an eclectic mix of new, old and under construction. Being a lot smaller than my hometown of Brisbane I did feel safe, although homeless people was more obvious in Adelaide. Crowds and heavy traffic don't seem an issue in Adelaide. Glenelg Beach was pretty ho-hum for a SE Queenslander. I'd love to come back and explore regional SA but think Adelaide itself is pretty much a "one visit will do" town, unless you're into festivals. I tried hard for a solid week trying to find really interesting things to do in Adelaide without a car but came up pretty empty. Can anybody suggest ideas for a next visit?
you're correct, it is run down and full of homeless people...avoid the town area. Stick to the hills.
You sound a little boring mate. Yorke or Eyre peninsula and visit Marion bay National Park, Fleurieu peninsula, go and stay in an air bnb in Barossa valley, Claire valley, Aldinga, Normanville, Port willunga, Port Elliot, Mclaren Vale hotel, Port Lincoln National Park. Go to wineries, stay in a tiny house, drive on the beach at Aldinga, have some seafood, Go fishing, go to the Murray river, Berri, the zoo, Adelaide Oval, the beach, the wine bars. Stay at West Beach caravan park, The central markets, the fringe. Go to the wineries in Hahndorf , go strawberry picking. Go for a bike ride along Henley Beach, watch the sunsets on the beach, have a picnic down the beach, a bbq. Unless you want to just compare the Adelaide skyline to the other cities? 🤦♀️
@@clo1720 You're basically saying what everybody else suggests; get out of Adelaide and visit the regional areas.
Australia’s best kept secret
Come to South Africa, you can swim with seals, dolphins, sharks, whales, rays 😉
😶 Sounds like a great idea
Beautiful. Wholesome husband and wife. New subscriber here. :)
he's singaporean accent 😅
I feel embarrassed at how expensive everything is in my country. We are feeling the pain as well.
hi guys my wife sent me this, is she hinting me sth
It’s a clear sign. OZ is waiting
pls surfskate
I’m getting rusty
@@shawneydepp why don't you try again, you spent money on the board
Stay out!
Of my pants uncle
Singaporean accent detected!
You should apply for refugee status. Singapore is a dictatorship. You have very few freedoms of expression, choice, association, assembly or the press.
As a citizen since birth, I can say it’s far from a dictatorship (think China, North Korea, Russia). Sure, we don’t have the same liberal expressions like the West, but we are for sure in a good position to pursue creative endeavors and lead a free life
@@shawneydepp How can you live a free life when you are limited in the ability to speak out against the government, associate with certain organisations, gather in groups that oppose certain aspects of what the government does or even have a free press? It's not so much doing these things, but having the right to do them. Also if we don't like a government, we are given alternatives to who can govern us and what they will do differently.
Is Australia racist? If so, is it as racist as the U.S.? Just asking.
this country is woke and so is this video that city alone ur in is high crime but have fun
Adelaide is the maiden aunt of Australian cities. It has an overabundance of British Immigrants. The few other poor souls who are here, tend to creep back into the woodwork. Don't waste your money. Go somewhere where you get value. Unless you like football or fishing, there is not much for you. Come and see!
What a weird take. Australia was colonised by the British. Of course its full of people of British descent.
You sound racist
