- A return to Chicago for an absolutely stunning live track. A band at the height of their powers.

I saw Chicago play 3 times in the Terry Kath era. He had such amazing stage presence as both singer and guitarist. They were an incredible rock band then.
They were just so very good. Thank you…
✌👂
Goosebumps. A favourite song/ band. Great video.👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
Great beginning
Tragically underrated group...most people only know the later ballads. CTA/Chicago, pre 1978, were so incredibly good. CTA/Chicago tunes to check out:
Poem 58
Listen
South California Purples
Make Me Smile
Wishing You Were Here
Questions 67 & 68
Feelin' Stronger Every Day
Saturday in the Park
Colour My World
Does Anybody Really Know What Time It Is?
(I've Been) Searchin' So Long
Old Days
Anything from the Tanglewood Concert
Excellent list. Thank you.
Beginnings was the third track on the first side of the first LP in Chicago's debut album when they were known as The Chicago Transit Authority. That entire debut double-LP is a rabbit hole to go down to experience their origins. Start with the opening track appropriate titled "Introduction". and go all the way through the closing track "Liberation". "Poem 58" will expose you to Terry Kath's mind-boggling guitar range. "Questions 67 And 68", "Listen", "South California Purples", all great tracks. Thanks for another great Chicago reaction video!
Early Chicago was awesome! Loved the live performance as well! Good one!
Their version of Traffic's "I'm a Man" is pretty good too!
We found that was pretty good too: czcams.com/video/1LNYmG4XZhY/video.html
My favorite!
Walter Parazaider one of the original members of Chicago's horn section posted a note sharing the news that he's been diagnosed with Alzheimer's Disease. He says he has a great support system including his family, friends and a Doctor with much experience helping patients with this awful disease.
It is an absolutely awful disease. So many are affected by this disease. I hope Walter is on of the few that find that medicine catching up to help all those afflicted.
Regardless of how I feel about the musical direction the band started to take post-'75 or so, I always found it amazing that they kept that original horn section together for almost 50 years. Parazaider retired from touring in 2016 and officially left the band in 2018.
I'd love for you guys to react to South California Purple from the CTA album.
Thanks for the suggestion
Just found you guys w F.Mac, Great reactions. Please do Chicago- Make me Smile Terry Kath on vocals🗣️🎙️🔥💯. You've heard Peter Cetera and Robert Lamm on vocals. Terry's turn 🙂 thanks
Thanks for the sub
Fabulous.
3 lead singers, Kath, Robert Lamm - kb- Peter Cetera - b-
Thanks for being here!
Sooo much going on in this song. Early Chicago really was the whole package. With that infectious chorus at the end along with the instrumentals it all evolves into just one joyous sonic party. It actually goes on a bit more in the studio version... lots of percussion.
Check out "Does Anybody Really Know What Time It Is" by them.
Excellent, will do
This whole concert, at Chicago's best, is well-worth a watch/listen.
I just found you guys a couple of weeks ago. I love your dynamic, and even your intro reminds me of TV intros from my youth. Keep vibing, and maybe work your way to some Aussie bands at some stage! Maybe some Masters Apprentices - Turn Up Your Radio, meanwhile I'm off to watch those other Chicago videos!
George here. I lived in Oz for 6 months when 18 and have a soft spot for Aussie bands. One of my favorite band of all time is Midnight Oil. Also Hoodoo Gurus! I would take some Aussie recommendations to expose Alex to. Thanks for kind words
@@TheThamesmen Well, ok, you asked! Midnight Oil - Power and the Passion Live from a few years back, has everything you want to showcase the Oils. czcams.com/video/e-_s2UzdSek/video.html Otherwise, try Beds are Burning or Blue Sky Mining.
Hoodoo Gurus - Like Wow (Wipeout) (we used it as one of our wedding songs, so I'm biased!) Axegrinder, or 1000 Miles, they're touring the States later this year if you get the chance, well worth it!
Try some of The Angels, the came out of Sydney at the same time as AC\DC. Take a Long Line, No Secrets or Am I Ever Gonna See Your Face Again (live with crowd chorus response, the only way to have it) czcams.com/video/fr-9Bh9a0sQ/video.html
In the same vein, Rose Tattoo, huge influence to Guns N'Roses. Bad Boy for Love, Rock N' Roll Outlaw, Nice Boys (Don't Play Rock 'N Roll.)
Cold Chisel, unofficial Oz anthem Khe Sanh, Bow River, or Flame Trees.
Won't go into Men At Work, INXS or Crowded House as I imagine you may already know them. But if you want some more let me know!
Oz Rock, raw, dirty and so good!
What do you know about Blood Sweat and Tears? Have you ever listened to I Love You More Than You’ll Ever Know?
No... I din't. I will check that out.
Since your on Tanglewood, check out version of Make Me Smile. Epitomizes everything great about Terry Kath. You can see his solo chops on 25 or 6 to 4 from this show, but his vocals aren't appreciated enough nor is his rhythm playing (like on Beginnings). He keeps the pocket tight
czcams.com/video/BM8lnObvgO0/video.html
25 or 6 to four from the same concert. Greatest guitar solo EVAH. Colour My World/ Make Me Smile also. Chicago had a following in the UK early on but Terry went on a tirade when asked about Clapton and their popularity there plummeted. Then he died and they were never the same. Competent but uninspired, the fire was gone
Shame... bloody shame
@@TheThamesmen He died playing Russian Roulette. A phenomenal musician who I have only recently come to appreciate. Jimi Hendrix supposedly wanted to form a collaboration with Chicago. Hendrix is remembered for his flamboyant showmanship but he as well was an innovative musician of the highest order. The first rock concert I ever attended, the Jimi Hendrix Experience, in 1968. In Lewiston, Maine of all places. My ears are still ringing. Jimi said that Chicago was "the best band I've ever heard in my life". He loved the horns
What’s not to love!
