The entire album "Crime of the Century" is great Chod. More Supertramp please! Also, I unfortunately don't have tinted car windows so I tend to get funny looks from other drivers when this 67 year old granny is bopping her head, banging the steering wheel and singing at the top of her lungs to bangers like this one.
You said it. Crime of the Century from start to finish. The album tells a story, and each song is a chapter.
Go you good thing :)
70 year old granny, same thing. Screw ‘em!
New subscriber here Supertramp is one of the best bands of the 70’s-80’s. The run of great albums and songs of from them was hard to match for any band. Thanks for recognizing great music and keep up the reactions and I hope you try a few more for these guys. They are worth the listen.
Let them look! They will remember you when it's their turn! ;-]
Lead the charge to get Supertramp into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. They deserve it!
"Fool's Overture" from the "Paris" album (live) is an absolute tour de force. Perhaps a record for longest applause ever. The Parisians knew they had heard a performance for the ages.
Breakfast in America & Crime of the Century were perfect albums by Supertramp. Goodbye Stranger next please
Saw this live at QE Theater in Vancouver. 1976. Brilliant.
This is my fav Supertramp song.
Love Supertramp - they're in my top 5 of all-time. I find it interesting that they're one of the few, if not the only classic rock bands not driven by guitars. Yet their music doesn't suffer at all from that. And Roger Hodgson plays just enough guitar to make it interesting and add spice.
"School" is the one to listen to on this album (Crime of the Century), then "Rudy" and "Dreamer". This was a big hit, though - you can see why.
Live version!
The "one"? The whole album is worth the listen. Whether you are a fan or getting your first taste of S'tramp. This entire album just crushes. You know that.
@@uberhandle42 - absolutely, one of my top 2 albums of all time. "School" is the track that just blows you away and sets the tone for the rest of the album.
@@doplinger1 Agree with all. School is brilliant - it's a song that not only sets the tone but sends the message - you need to sit down and really listen to me if you want to enjoy this album and get the most out of it. It's just suuuuper deep.
The big four from Supertramp were great. Crime of the Century, Crisis, what Crisis? Even in the Quietest Moments, and Breakfast in America. All very good to great albums.
I have had the extreme pleasure of seeing Supertramp “The Tramp” LIVE 4 times. Their music is pure brilliance from each member of the group. Rick Davies - My Favorite Piano/Keyboard Player. John Helliwell - Favorite Sax player. Roger, Bob and Dougie are all awesome. Their Live shows are spectacular. I only put Pink Floyd (4 times) one place higher for their shows
One of the best fender Rhodes intro ever!
Its a wurli
@@trelkel3805 maybe, their similar!
Agreed.
Supertramp brought the Wurlitzer electric piano to the attention of millions of music fans, good on you boys
Intros across all genres, rock, R&B, country, easy listening. etc...were amazing in the 1970s!
watched another Supertramp reaction you did(“Rudy”) and then this song was in my head & when coming to find it I found your reaction-awesome song and I’m so glad to see you react to this song!! BLOODY good selection!! 👍👍🙏😁
Horribly underrated guitarist, Roger Hodgson.
Got some FUNKY stuff goin' down on this. Bloody Well right! YOU love it! WE love it! Filthy sax soul.
Supertramp has some depth to their music........glad you enjoy!!
Yeah ,,,,,Supertramp are Super gods of Rock n' Roll and always get overlooked by us and music critics.....I will see if I can find you another song by Supertramp to react to.
There are so many great Supertramp songs - "Give a little bit", "Dreamer", "Take the long way home", "Lady", "Even in the quietest moments"... Find a list of their songs and stick a pin in it and you will hit a classic.
supertramp has the greatest intros of any group check out most of thier songs nothing but great intros
A big fan of ......Supertramp!!
I was in a band in London when this came out and we did this song. People love it!
My favorite intro of all time!
Me too!!! Will listen 5times in a row...🤗
You are the first person doing Rock music reactions that get why we watch. We simply
want to see the "physical" reactions, their enjoyment, we surely don't need someone's
"evaluation" of music we've listened to und attended their concerts all our lives since it first
Rocked the waves. We don't want someone stopping the video every minute to give their
uninformed opinion of what they think the message of the music ist, or tell us how it sounds
like some other tune they've heard. Stopping the video once ist ok, but not get crazy with it.
We already most often know everything about the music, especially if we have recommended
it for someone to give a reaction.
So "thank you" for always waiting until the end of the songs to express your likes, dislikes, or
opinion about the song's message, playing, talent etc... :-)
That ist how the best liked Rock music reaction channels on CZcams do.
Sadly most Rock music reactors on CZcams haven't any concept of how they are insulting
the Rock music und us by some of their actions.
I mean really? Never stop a Rock music video in the middle of a guitar solo, vocal solo, nor
any other instrument solo...Ar least wait for the rhythm or a musical pause.
I like watching your reactions much...Makes me smile. :-)
Auf Wiedersehen aus Wiesbaden
Supertramp's Breakfast In America is one of the greatest albums of all time.
awesome reaction to my favorite group that i grew up in the 70s with !! u gotta try out " Hide in your Shell" by Supertramp! lol
Outstanding band especially in their first few years of the band. Songs like Even In The Quietest Moments, Give A Little Bit, Logical Song,Goodbye Stranger, And Breakfast in America all great songs!
You have ti listen to "School" from the same album.
Live version!
Dreamer from this album and hide in your shell.
School slays
From back when you actually had to have talent both in writing and performing. Supertramp was one of the best - most of their songs were a perfect balance of hard rock and sweetness, along with incredible instrumentation. Nobody out there today is anywhere near a match.
I love this gem. So different. So smooth!
I've never seen a reviewer on any song, anywhere, who looked like he was enjoying the song more than you were. Your smile just got bigger and bigger!
Great, man. Love this groove when it gets grungy.
Love your energy brotha!!
If you’re a fan of the saxophone you need to listen to a song called my kind of lady. The saxophone solo at the end of the song is just absolutely phenomenal. Lay your head back close your eyes and Diggin you will not be disappointed.
When I was growing up listing to the radio, I didn't know some songs were Supertramp, because each song was different.
I was already anticipating the next song on the album (Crime Of The Century), which would have been "Hide In Your Shell"
Loved this song when I was a girl...able to sing the lyrics without getting into trouble, but everyone knew what it was about. Love Supertramp. Thanks for the reaction.
This was the song that introduced me to Supertramp. Been a fan ever since.
My bloody favorite Supertramp song! No reason to stop, though. Everything else is phenomenal. I simply can't think of a bad Supertramp or Steely Dan song.
Another great Supertramp's song is School! Continue like this!
SCHOOL!!!!!!
I got this album when it came out and then in America they were basically unknown. I ordered it as 1 of 12 for a penny or a dollar in my Columbia (?) records promotional offer. Came to love this album quickly. Agree with others here that the next best ones are “School“, “Rudy“, and “Hide in your Shell“.
Also check out "Even in the Quietest Moments" !!
Definitely a band favorite back in the day. They're bloody well awesome! 😁
Breakfast in America and goodbye stranger are two other great Supertramp songs.
Your face as this started!!!! I've got a driving face too. Great reaction.
There are clear homage to Ray Charles piano, possibly Joe Walsh, Peter Frampton and guys like Tom Schultz, the pioneers of guitar effects like the talk box that just gives me the “groove face!” Listen again to the electric piano transition from lead instrument, to the heavily distorted electric guitar riff, this handoff is the magic of jazz.
"School" is a must
It's wonderful that you are excited about all these great artists. So many I could suggest but I'd have to suggest Jackson Browne The Load Out/Stay( recorded at Merriweather post pavilion, Columbia, Maryland August 27, 1977) from The Running On Empty Album. BTW the entire album was done live, from Aug 77- Sept 77. Jackson is one of and still is the greatest song writers of all time. He wrote Take it Easy for The Eagles, just to give you some insight into his style. I think you will enjoy it.
Wow Oh Memories !
So much Blues in rock music back in the day. It's all the blues and these be British White Boys YO! That piano intro is insane, bending notes on a piano take some skill.
Yo, love it! Thx
The quirkier brit sound!
Love watching the joy expression on your face when you hear Supertramp songs, reminds me when I made them same faces first hearing them in the 80s, I couldn’t go buy there cassette tape fast enough, breakfast in America was the shit back then, awesome group
Supertramp covered several different Genres: Rock, Pop music, New wave, Progressive rock, Pop rock, Soft rock, Art rock, Progressive pop.
Having a really bad day -
Supertramp will help. 😊
Child in Time,Goodbye Stranger,School, there are so many fantastic tunes from this band for adults.
You really enjoyed the hell out of this!! Love it. Me driving. The same!
"Goodbye Stranger" is a banger!
Although Supertramp had 2 albums prior to this, this album is, really, where they cemented their "classic line-up" and started pushing their song-writing and arrangements to new levels.
The 2 main song-writers and lead vocalists: Roger Hodgson (guitarist and keyboardist) and Rick Davies (keyboardist) had been in place from the start and would last until Hodgson's departure in 1983 (after which, the band began a downward slide, in most opinions....)....
but, on Crime Of The Century, they added: John HelliwelL the woodwinds and "odder keyboards" player (I believe, later, Helliwell added or incorporated: horns and, even, vibes, into his arsenal), the excellent drummer: Bob Siebenberg [a.k.a.: "Bob C. Benberg" ...also: a minor league baseball player. 😛😋👍👍] and (last, but not least): Dougie Thomson, on Bass!
...From 1973-1983, they were (pretty-well): "unstoppable."
Post-'85: They were, essentially: "dismissible," and, then: broken-up (for an extended period.) 👍
Crime Of The Century is the start of their "golden years,": effectively. 🤘🤘🤘🤘⚡ 👊
Peter Frampton Do You Feel Like We do, must listen to the live version. That is the definitive version and you will love it!
This was Supertramp's first top 40 hit in the USA.
Supertramp/Waiting So Long studio version
Great reaction, Long Way Home, just one of those songs you can hear it and never get sick of it. Their music is just so different and unique.
All your reactions make me smile....you really appreciate true artists. :)
The expressions on your face are the same faces we made when we first heard them decades ago. lol
You do it that WELL RIGHT!
Even in the quietest moments 👍🏼
THE YOUNGER GENERATION IS REALLY INTO ( BREAKFAST IN AMERICA ) CHOD WHICH WAS SO MUCH MORE COMMERCIAL MUSIC ON THEIR 79 ALBUM. :( BUT THE REALLLLL PROGGY ARTISTIC CLASSIC ROCK IS 74-76 ALBUMS ( CRIME OF THE CENTURY, CRISIS WHAT CRISIS, EVEN IN THE QUIETEST MOMENTS ) THE BIGGGG RADIO HIT FROM THEM WAS : GIVE A LITTLE BIT :)
Goodbye stranger by supetramp
CW Great reaction!! , their "Give A Little Bit" and "Take The Long Way Home" are next for you!
Every song on this album is great! Rudy, Crime of the Century, Asylum, so much to look forward to! This is my first time seeing one of your reactions, and when i heard you say you were into Jazz, and knowing the intro to the song coming up, I was like, Oh yeah, this one will grab him!
Please try 'Hide in your shell'. It's not likely to be everyone's [or maybe not even anyone's] favourite...but it is mine. :)
Alice Cooper from the Killer album, the song Halo of Flies.
During the 70’s-80’s there was no way to be a completely one group only person. No one race , one type of music, there were No holds because all barriers were Broken, and it seemed like there were supernatural superstars everywhere. And I loved it and am so glad I was there....Glad you are getting to hear it now.
Chod, I'm glad to see your focusing on a great group from England. Supertramps " BREAKFAST IN AMERICA" AND " CRIME OF THE CENTURY" are exceptional. The album "BREAKFAST IN AMERICA" was a big hit here in 1979 and 1980. Please give "SCHOOL"," RUDY" and "TAKE THE LONG WAY HOME" a try.
A great reaction young sir.
Yes sir, got to do Cannonball by Supertramp.
"Crime of the Century" album of them is criminally good. :D "School" and "Dreamer" are the other more famous songs from this album i think. Rudy is also very special.
I dont always drive fast, but this tune makes a good excuse.
Lol. A driving song for you too? Coincidence? Maybe not...
That is how you do an intro folks....the live version from the Paris album is extended, a bit more jazzy....
I'll often be somewhere and a song comes on and I'll say, "Oh, it's my favorite song!" I've had people ask "How many favorite songs do you have?" I usually answer "1,876,410."
Time for us old timers to look further back to Louis Armstrong, Maria Ellington, Blanche Calloway, Duke Ellington etc. You provide company for us to reminise while not knowing much about your contemporary music.
Lots of Supertramp to discover. Try School or Take the long way home, just to name a couple.
Give a little bit.
Good to see someone who enjoys soaking up all different kinds of new music.
This is dorky as hell, but I keep a notebook where I write my own top 20 songs each month of whatever I am digging most at that time. Has to be songs I've never heard before only.
If you want to hear the best Supertramp and go down the rabbit hole, just listen to the Paris Live 1979 Album, it's all their best shit in concert and produced for album.
I love watching your reactions! It's such a wonderful thing that music can bring you so much joy! Love
Superb production!!!!
Yep, that would be Ken Scott, who cut his teeth recording The Beatles’ White Album.
SuperTramp is awesome
This is one of their best and i enjoyed your reaction to it. It takes me back to when it was new to me because it is new to you now. Bless you for sharing the beauty of music.
Gotta see them live!!
Oh and ... Child of Vision
Rick Davies is such an underrated keyboardist!!!
Chod, this is one where it would have been better to have just had 'exposed' yourself full screen! Your subscribers knew this one would connect with you like ketchup on french fries, vodka & orange juice, etc. etc. I was glad to hear your comments at the end. You now understand when we really do know what you'll like!
Just a wonderful old cut !!!!!!! In 85 86 My son was in kindergarten..... went to school singing bloody well right , and Cocaine kisses moonshine misses!!!!!! Come on who can guess where that line came from......lolol cheers
Yes as Char Canuck said, the whole album "Crime of the Century" is excellent. The songs on there will blow you away. After that album, listen to "Fool's Overture" on their album Even in the Quietest Moments, it is like a full movie in a song.
I find these songs ideal for traveling and singing with your friends, I love super ttramps
good reaction
crime of the century
Loving your exposure!!! I enjoy it very much!!!
Absolutely love Crime of the Century. I was fortunate enough to catch them when they toured it - fab!!! I have one track for you, Chod - if you haven't hear it before, you'll love it! "Down to You" by Colosseum 2 off the album Strange New Flesh. it's a cover of a Joni Mitchell sing, but, sadly, it's the stand out track of theirs;;;lots of good work but not the same quality as "Down to You" - give it a listen?
If you want to hear something really cool, groovy and 60's then listen to "White Bird" by It's A BEautiful Day. So unique
Great reaction Chod. I think you got the hint many of us gave you from your first outing with ST that so much is missing with a live version as opposed to in-studio with this group. Trust me, I'm sure there was more than me bobbing our collective heads along with you. I'll be sure to watch as you weave your way through this band. Beautiful drum photo by the way. Hope you will give us a taste one day soon!
Definitely studio with Supertramp and Steely Dan.
