Hi Dr, I’ve been watching your channel for a while now it’s been very informative thank you. Now I’ll be starting my Invisalign treatment in a few days and I wanted to know are the changes permanent? Since I saw you getting Invisalign again after you had braces before I started to have those questions.
Great question. Orthodontic changes are not permanent without upkeep. With retainers, you can keep your straight teeth for a very long time with minimal changes. Even with retainers, our bodies do change with time and those changes (along with habits and hygiene) can affect our teeth, gums, bone, etc. Similarly, good sleep, diet, and exercise can keep us looking good longer, but does not stop the aging process. Thus, we do not expect to look 20 in our 40’s. Good luck with your treatment.
Have a nice day, Doctor!
Thanks, you too!
