Something changed after Arsenal left Highbury, and not exactly for the better. Really sad that the Islington council didn't allow them to expand such a historic stadium.
There was housing around Highbury which would had made it almost impossible for it to be expanded
Reminds me of Anfield. Anfield is getin bigger now. Highbury should've done the same.
Arsenal lost his mystic and here we are
Emirates cost tons of money and made us financially restricted until 2014.
Mate, expanding Highbury would have required basically destroying a neighbourhood so that was never gonna happen. I think the Emirates was the best solution to the problem tbh because it’s so close to Highbury and definitely more accessible.I get what your saying tho even when visiting Highbury in its current form the sense of history is obvious.
United fan here but god that arsenal jersey was so cool
Absolutely, bro and I’m a Man Utd fan as well by the way.
It reminds me of pes 5 front cover
As a tittenham fan it was very cool seeing the decline if arsenal team in this shirt. Reminds me of space jam when they all lost their powers. Campbell, Sender's, Lauren, Ljungberg, Viera, Pires Bergkamp, Revesby, Van Persie suddenly all looked very bad when they changed to this kit
Ah, the good ol’ days. I miss this Arsenal. Highbury will always have a special place in the heart of players and fans alike.
05/06 was the end of a generation. Bergkamp, Pires, Campbell, Cole, Lauren didn't play a game for Arsenal after this season (unless you count Campbell coming back for half season in 09/10). Henry left only a year later.
@@manusiaganteng2753 yeah the year PG era started in Arsenal 😂😂
@@manusiaganteng2753 you forget reyes . Rest in peace ✌️ 🙏
yes a place in your heart is worth a lot indeed!
@@manusiaganteng2753 I knew it was over when Cole left and they lost the final.
Back when Arsenal finishing 4th was just a relief from having a bad season cuz we were challenging for titles. How the mentality has deteriorated 😔
Facts
Right bro 👍
were back baby
Henry alone had more confidence and machismo than the whole current squad. We don't have one strong character in the current squad let alone the needed amount!
We need to stop reminiscing on the past. There will never be another player like him or a team like the invincibles. Those standards are too high.
@@Sam-ng3of People told Arsene Wenger who made the invincibles that he can't do it and they laughed at him. Arsene Wenger said that if you do not believe you can do it then you have no chance at all. We need some belief. Why would I keep watching football if I had no hope?! Maybe not in the very near future but later on we will manage to come back to better days.
That's because he was a footballing god and he knew it
If we are a serious club, that is the standard we should aspire to. That is the standard this club once set. We are now a pale imitation of what we once were.
You negative guys were saying? Arsenal back on top baby!!
Gilberto Silva was an incredible player
Older arsenal fans who watched the Highbury years are so lucky. I started watching the season after this.
Henry to lacazette
Gilberto to xhaka
kolo toure to Rob holding
Very sad decline 😪
@One Indian boy tierney is probably our most talented lb since Cole tbf but still a decline aswell
Henry to Martinelli
Gilberto to Partey
Kolo Toure to Gabriel
Be optimistic, we're still clearing up the mess of the old regime... Just wait till we kick on.
martineli is so over rated. Don't get me wrong he's good but Saka is the true future of the club out of all the youngsters.
@@elitehabesha exactly Martinelli are extremely overrated
@@mo3370 gael clichy was better than Tierney. Ppl r quick to forget
Kolo is a beautiful human with great character
These are the best Arsenal jerseys in my opinion I still have this exact Henry jersey & I’ve never worn it. Gonna save it & pass it on to my future son one day. I love Henry’s confidence! Hat trick on your last highbury match ever amazing! Nobody else besides Henry can do that!
those kits were amazing
I have one at home - Henry’s
Thierry Henry was the best player in the world in his prime and he is the greatest player to ever grace the premier league.
I’ve been a diehard Arsenal fan since 1999... highbury days were the best days during my childhood
Probably the most beautiful stadium the league has ever seen...amazing art deco architecture and the famous marble halls...had the privilege of going in 2001 Vs Chelsea.. obviously we won 2-1...Henry and Bergkamp scored...just wish I could've gone to more games at Highbury 😔
after that, ashley cole left the club
😂😂😂
Henry is the best player to grace the premier league. Gutted he didn't win more at the club. Deserved to lift Championss league with Arsenal- the club he loves!! Legend
Imagine how things would be if we won the final.
spurs and arsenal would be competing for the league title
If we had VAR then, Eto's goal would have been rightly flagged offside.

Old school Arsenal, cole then was the best lb in world football and we had the best striker in world football. Oh how times have changed 😳
This is the Arsenal we need to get back to! COYG!
LOL
finishing fourth?
@@FootyCrazyM8 Well they did reach a Champions League final that year
Arsenal are back
This is the moment Arsenal died as a big club!
I disagree. I think losing the league to Leicester was the moment we were no longer a big club... Especially after CEO Ivan Gazidis said Arsenal needed to be ‘more like Leicester’ 😤
The beginning of their fall began when they lost to Manchester United 2-0 in 2005 (The ref robbed them). Since then, they were never the same
@@CalumO94 I agree with both you and Joe Cole. The 15-16 season put the nail in the coffin to a decade of a dying Arsenal.
@@RenegadeShepard69 Exactly, I can agree with what they are saying as well.
3 Words:
Patrick Vieira's departure.
4 main starters of Arsene Wenger's invincibles who cost less than half of what Manchester United spent on Rio Ferdinand at the time! Arsene Wenger was never backed financially in Arsenal even before Kroenke. I wish to see him in a club with a serious, ambitious ownership where he could have a proper squad again. He's one of the greatest minds in football!
I don't think he'll manage a legendary team again. His legacy with Arsenal is enough for many careers tbh. He might get a return to football but I don't think he should, the man deserves a proper retirement, he did his best and football should be thankfull for him being a part of the beautiful game.
The man is nearly 70 years old!!!
@@AhmadSafty96 He's fit and hungry for football. I'm not saying I hope he becomes a left winger. I don't see how his age would prevent him from managing. He's still working and has no intention to retire. He's football's Clint Eastwood 😎
@@RenegadeShepard69 He doesn't want a retirement though. He said it already. "Ferguson has his horses. I don't have horses".

Beautiful human being
Wow...what a mature team.🙌
Legends of the past.
Hopefully Arsenal will produce more legends in the future. Maybe even someone from the current squad.
We should never have moved to the Emirates Stadium. We were told we were going to compete with Europe’s elite. :(
That's why david dein left the club
this was the year thigs started to turn for arsenal ... ashley cole left , henry next season , bergkamp retires , robert pires moves to spain , and in the year just before viera left too ! ... didnt realise at the time that this was a massive turning point
I love how in 2006 we were worried about Henry leaving not knowing that Chelsea were gonna swoop and steal Ashley Cole from us not long after this.
To me Highbury is the best stadium
The atmosphere is really great !!!
I wish Ashley Cole didn’t leave Arsenal. He should of captained the club in the long-term. This season was the start of our decline.
Even Vieira admitted he wished Cole was his sucessor in the captain's armband.
Good old days man for real😔
Good times.. we'll never feel like this ever again under this board/owner. Arsenal are dead ever since we left highbury. #freeArsenal
As a Arsenal fan I miss the Arsenal of old especially during the 1998 to 2005 years.
The lads
0:21 "You have to sing at the end". Was he referring to Spurs fans singing too early thinking that they've finished top 4?
lol this was when finishing 4th was seen as having a bad season for Arsenal. Wow
Once upon a time .
0:15 they look at him like he's the best in the world
Ah how the mighty have fallen
Henry's confidence bordered cockiness but my word that's what most players need, be Excellent at your craft and don't be afraid to show it
This Arsenal team was something
Not one man in our squad with Thierry's mentality, we need that bad.
They've got to go back to this kit and colours. Much more cool and intimidating.
Never thought Ash wouldn’t see the Emirates as a gunner.. it’s a shame
If only we won the final..
run it back turbo
Ashley and Kolo slipped when speaking. The emotions were taking over them.
Sorry but Cole looked happy enough here. I still say the Chelsea players in the England squad at the world cup got to him. This is why Chelsea were so despised back then as they used every dirty tactic possible to take players from clubs. Only reason Gerrard stayed at Liverpool was because he loved the club more than anything. Chelsea tried the same tricks to get him to join.
Why wouldnt Cole be happy? He played for an incredible Arsenal team not an Arsenal team of today. Won the league twice in the spin of two years, won the double at Arsenal, got into the UCL final which they should have won and was part of the invincibles squad
But I agree chelsea have never had any class about them as a club
@@pena1197 There have probably been times Arsenal have shown a lack of class
@@pena1197 Tbh Chelsea aren't as bad now, I think it's about time people showed more respect for them

God we used to be such a powerful club. Honestly how many bad decisions are necessary to see us fall so far.
Is the Highbury stadium still there?
Nah its been made into flats/housing I think
Arsenal we're cool back then
Even with this team we were fighting for the top 4
Lol back when arsenal were a top club, now they are just banter fc

*WAS THAT JAMIE CARRAGER LAGHING AT THE END*
Ashley Cole with the eye brow cuts.
Shame we couldn’t expand the stadium
So many big characters at Arsenal back then; cole looks like a kid.
This ended the era of Arsenal being at the top top level
Ashley Cole - 'I'll be off to Chelsea next season'
Kolo Toure left for Man City
Ashley Cole left for Chelsea
Thierry Henry left for Barcelona
All of them left to win...
Wow is like when Ashley left arsenal you started to decline
Back when Arsenal was a big thing.
Imagine if we came 5th and won the cl.
You'd probably enter in the first qualifying round, like Liverpool a year before when they finished 5th and won the CL, and Spurs would enter in the third qualifying round
When facing arsenal wasnt like sayin i have a Nissan on the drive
I just can believe this team didn't won any UCL
If Arteta had Henry he'd still be spamming crosses and Henry would be looking silly since he was never great at heading. Of course he'd sometimes decide to run with the ball from his box to the opposition box through all their players and score but these occurrences are rare and we'd still be midtable.
Tbf crossing doesn't just mean to head. A lot of the time, they're low crosses to feet
@@JayB948 Not when Bellerin's crossin'em.
@@alaooooy7 yeaa true. If you look at liverpool, all their fullbacks do is cross. City very similar with guys like de bruyne drifting into areas to cross. Not sure why arteta is getting cussed for crossing so much 🤷🏾♂️
@@JayB948 They've got the players for it. Liverpool's fullbacks are both great at crossing and the likes of Mane, Firminio, Jota and Wijnaldum are all good at heading. We don't have a single good header of the ball. Tierney can cross but to who, Pepe or Willian?! It doesn't make sense for our players or how we're used to playing back when we had a shape.
If Henry was there with a midfield of xhaka, ceballos, and elneny then yes.
Days were you can shake hands and not be scared of covid

Ashley cole looks 5feet tall
He's 5'9

@Play to win celebrities lie about their real height and Google isn't the most correct source for that topic
But ig Henry is 6'2 he's very tall
And Cole also 5'9 he doesn't look any shorter than that
Also u should consider the 12 cms difference between them (about 5 inches)
Should have handcuffed cole

Ashley cole spoke about handcuffing Henry but he left literally the game after
Always makes me laugh seeing how obsessed with Spurs (like Thierry here) the Arsenal fans always have been. Fast forward to 2020 and now it just looks pathetic, getting pretty close to West Ham fans in that the only highlights in their season is trying to beat Tottenham.
Because the yids were heavily obssesed with us lol
