    *Henry* 30+ goals every season
    *Adebayor* 30 goals in season
    *Van Persie* 37 goals in a season
    *Sanchez* 30 goals in a season
    *Aubameyang* 31 & 29 goals in 2 seasons.

    If you're quick enough, you'll notice David Dein in the crowd giving applause.
    It all went downhill as soon as he left, because he knew what the board were planning and wanted no part of it.

    • @Zauchi
      @Zauchi Před 2 lety +15

      I've been recently looking at old articles about him leaving and got reminded of the bad side of David Dein. 😞
      He played dirty behind the scenes, had a rivalry with Peter Hill Wood, introduced Kroenke to the board and originally wanted Kroenke to take over but then Dein did a 180 and went and sold his shares to Usmanov and set up a company with him (red and white holdings) to where he became chairman.
      When you look back at the news articles, according to Peter Hill Wood it seems David Dein was looking to be Arsenal chairman and throughout his years there was the only one on the board that wanted Peter Hill Wood to stand down.
      David Dein introduced Kroenke to Arsenal and wanted Kroenke to take over as Dein wanted a huge cash injection to compete with 'bigger clubs' in transfers rather then the 'Arsenal way'.
      According to Peter Hill Wood he fired David Dein because of his insistence of Kroenke, but according to David Dein he stood down but either way Dein likely believed that Kroenke had no chance to take over the club so teamed up with Usmanov instead, so if red and white holdings bought the club he would automatically become the chairman.
      It's sad when you look back because David Dein was trying to get power but it backfired on him and got us to where we are today.
      One very interesting thing though is from one of the articles in 2007 Peter Hill Wood says that he doesn't believe a word Kroenke says, as Kroenke is claiming he will spend cash for players once he buys the club but Peter Hill Wood said “He would have to spend a fortune to buy the club, he has already spent millions acquiring shares, so who thinks he is then going to spend fortunes on players? Take it from me, he won’t be doing that after spending millions buying up shares.”

    • @Longlostpuss
      @Longlostpuss Před 2 lety +8

      @@Zauchi Interesting, but every player you ask at Arsenal during the 2004 era would tell you how much of an Arsenal man David Dein was. He was instrumental behind the scenes at nudging Wenger on certain transfers and he apparently made a point of being in the dressing room pre match during the teams pep talks, so it appeared he was a real Arsenal man through and through.
      Whilst I don't necessarily believe he wasn't looking out for his own financial interests at the same time, I'd still sooner believe him and the players character references of him, than Hill Wood who I never heard spoken about getting involved on the floor by players and having any real input into the teams Wenger built.
      To be fair, I heard alot of the board took their money and ran when Kronke showed.

    Arsenal was like the Real Madrid of the PL at that point. And equivalents I’d say as well. Henry was the Ronaldo Nazario of the PL, Dennis Bergkamp definitely had all the quality and skill Raul did and Robert Pires had a similar super dangerous quality to him at Arsenal that Luis Figo did. You could always rely on Patrick Vieira and Zidane, because they were both excellent attacking midfielders and we all know that both defenses had power and speed. Tony Adams was surely the Fernando Hierro of the group and Ashley Cole, Sol Campbell, Ivan Campo, Roberto Carlos and Michael Salgado were all very fun to watch. These two teams were also blessed with goalkeeping legends like David Seaman and Casillas. There are other superstars I’m not even mentioning still as well as extremely reliable international professionals that were on both of these teams and unfortunately only one of them (the invincibles) are seen as a success. 2003 was an unfortunate fluke for Madrid in the CL and it definitely proved that Real Madrid really needed to buy Cafu, Thuram, Chivu or someone like that.

      @@omother6950Why not? You can technically go an entire season unbeaten and still get relegated.
      And the most significant point...
      Manchester City (17/18) got 10 MORE POINTS than Arsenal (03/04). 10!! That's 3 wins and a draw more!
      By your logic, Liverpool deserved the 18/19 title since they only lost 1 game that season, while City lost 4. The draws matter lol
