    That Bohemian Rhapsody single with These are the days of our lives was a reissue in December 1991 after Freddie Mercury died, the proceeds went towards starting the Mercury Phoenix trust, a charity to help fight AIDS, these are the days of our lives was the last song he filmed a video and Bohemian Rhapsody was the first proper queen video as I'm sure you know

    Love U2..i do have it a few times on vinyl and cd
    Huge Queen fan and i bought that single when it came out...the song was number 1 when i was born in the 70s haha.

    Good finds there Simon. I remember going to pick up my daughter from choir practice about 20 years ago and a boy there said he was related to Mark King from Level 42. He asked me if I knew of the band. That was interesting about the Michael Jackson cassette, I don't know about Bad being rare, I think not. The things people do to try to sell items.

    • @vinyldale
      @vinyldale  Před 2 lety

      Fond memories of your daughter always nice to hear, as for the Michael Jackson tape I think he was just trying it on, unfortunately you get people like that sometimes, it was a shame because it put me off from buying the other cassette, once they start BS-ing you, (even though he may honestly believed he was right) you lose faith them, it is, what it is, at the end of the day, its all part of the experience

    Hi Simon. The tape seller was right you know - it is rarer to find the wrong cassette in a different box.......
    You did the right thing. To avoid conflict and to wait until they step away because if they hint it's something good they may want to engage in conversation then the seller may intervene too. Well done and waited on mate. Just get your PJ and Duncan signed you'll be quids in.

      Hi Martin, tbh I couldn't be bothered to argue with him, I didn't want "Thiller" knowing it had "Bad" the wrong cassette inside for a start, I didn't want to let on what I already knew or give to much interest as it only would of warranted his high prices, although I wouldn't of minded the other cassette, the simply red one, wasn't happy it was £3 but on another day I might of paid it, maybe? When he asked to have his MJ tape back I wasn't happy to give him the satisfaction of a sale, as If to say if your going to be like that forget it, and move on, sounds like you'd of probably do the same Martin

    Looks like you managed to swerve some prize idiots at that car boot Simon.
    Millie looks like a cheery happy soul, don't think my son would ever have looked so happy record shopping with me!..( sweets or not!).
    I loved the Joshua Tree on it's original release and listened to it endlessly for about a year.
    I thought Would I lie to You was a classic soul hit from the 60s when I first heard that, great song.
    Surfs' Up is terrific and I think is gathering more fans as the years go by. It's quite dark and musically a little left field.
    Feel Flows is an amazing song.
    The beauty of having an eclectic taste in music, is that you always have something to listen to regardless of what mood you're in.
    Great Japanese pressi gs of those Tom Petty albums, i'm always looking out for a decent copy of Damn The Torpedoes.
    Once my son was born, I stopped playing computer games completely, apart from DS games like Professor Layton, which I played with him whist he was little.
    Interesting video, hope you're keeping well 😉 🙏.

      Rob, how are you my friend? Was a nice sunny day last weekend, unfortunately you tend to get that, you get a snippet of a revival and all popular artist albums increase in value, unfortunately that's not how it works, this kind of hype can work against you when your hunting for bargains amongst the uninformed, it's dangerous because it can destroy a hobby for everyone else, anyway hope all is well with you and thanks for dropping in

    Good digging Simon. Feels strange to admit it but I have never bought any records from a car boot sale. I've also never heard The Joshua Tree! Hi Simon. Have you heard the 'Sound Of Gaming' show on BBC Radio 3 of all places? The show is all about computer games music. I discovered it one Saturday afternoon when I was out driving. I'm not sure if it's on at the moment; but all old episodes are available to listen to again ... My appreciation of Queen has increased over the years. The video for 'These Are The Days Of Our Lives' is very moving. The subtlety of Brian May's guitar playing on this track reminds me of David Gilmour ... Peter Gabriel era Genesis is special, although it's an acquired taste. I've never managed to get any decent-sounding original pressings. However, the CD remasters from a few years ago sound wonderful ... I picked up a few cassettes for 25 pence each last week (Joe Jackson, Donald Fagen, Southside Johnny & The Asbury Jukes, Brian Wilson, and Scott Walker/Walker Brothers) and thought of you. Did you know cassettes are collectable now? (The chap who said that in your video reminded me of the people at car boots a few years ago who spouted the same thing about vinyl whilst trying to off-load grubby, scratched records only fit for the tip.)

    • @vinyldale
      @vinyldale  Před 2 lety +1

      Hi Carl, regards that seller, I realise he was trying to make money, but there was no need to insult my intelligence and fob me off with that old spill, I'm mean it's was'nt even in the correct case for god sake lol. Plus being mass produced into selling millions of copys, Anyway, its funny you should mention video games because a similar price spike happend when a super rare copy of mario bros for the original nintendo sold at auction for over $1million, since then suddenly everyones copy of mario brothers spiked because of this freak auction, its the same with cassettes there's a slight revival, the public gets wind of it and all jump on the band wagon thinking they have gold, it appears that anything now vintage prices are being inflated, I guess we're living in times of inflation and rising living cost and uncertainty, worrying times carl 🤔

    I never had a Megadrive back in the day, but would love to pick one up. I noticed one at the Car Boot. How much was it going for?
    £2.50 is really good for Nursery Cryme. It's their first featuring Phil Collins but they still had Peter Gabriel as singer. Nursery Cryme is the first of a classic run of albums. Definitely in the prog genre rather than the stadium rock of the 80s/90s
