Anytime I bring my gen 3 Glock 17L out to the range most people never even heard of it and it gets weird looks. Love the gun though. Definitely a fun oddball

@@jmoney5690 Don't know how it could be. Gen 3 slide won't fit that frame, and you can't exactly add to that slide. There may be some after market piece that replaces the plastic, but it's brand new, and no one is making it yet... Plus it's still going to be serperate piece.

I grip high and get slide bite so the back straps with the larger beaver tails are nice
Where's the Glock bayonet adapter?
Finger pointing alignment is why the 1911 grip angle is great, most of us keep our index finger next to our middle finger when pointing, not angled up as you do when pointing, so for me a Glock naturally aims high. I guess this is why multiple grip angles for various firearms exist…

I’m kind of surprised they didn’t put the performance trigger in this from the factory, but I’m not mad about it either. I guess the connector being lighter from the factory is good enough to start with.

I never thought they’d make a Gen5! Excited to see if they make duty holsters for this. Would take one over a G34.
I carried a Glock 17L Gen 1 on duty for years. I had to send off to a place in California to have a duty holster made for it. The place is called Tex Shoemaker. Not sure if they are still in business....Good luck. I will say this. The long slide will dig into the seat of your patrol car lol.
i have a gen 5 34 MOS with front serrations. I'm not seeing much different other than the polymer guide rod channel which is def a negative for me. I like "rare" glocks, but this one is going to be a pass for me.
@@Junkinator Same, I carry my Gen5 34 MOS daily and there's nothing about this that makes me want it for literally any reason at all other than being absurdly long. If anything, it reinforces my impulse thought of buying a G20 Gen5

Shield sights with their low profile mos plate will cowitness with the factory sights as well.

I bought a Gen 3 17L last December.
If I knew a Gen 5 was coming out, no way would I have purchased the Gen 3.

Same magazine as any other glock 17 so plenty of mag options out there

TY 4 "pointing out" the secret finger-pointing!! That was how I was taught DECADES AGO!! I have NEVER bot a glock, mainly because of two reasons: 1. They never fit my hands comfortably( I AM ONLY MAN IN AMERICA w/small hands(!!!?!!!😅). 2. The amount of unnecessary real estate on Blocks mentally chaffed my aiming process. I like the finger grooves, as it naturally indexes consistant grip. Maybe, by glock 97, they may build one that fits my style.😅. I will keep watching ur vids, as I appreciate ur style conversation, so that I may learn more. TY.
Funny enough i have giant hands, but they also dont fit well on a normal glock. Also, try out a glock 48 or 43x, you might like them as they are MUCH slimmer and less bulky. Although you really need aftermarket mags to get the most use out of them.

...I've got a Glock 35 with both 9mm & 357 SiG conversion barrels...
People wanted all the gen 3 with the MOS options but Glock wouldn't do it and I'm kinda glad they didn't because even though I have carried the same Gen 3 Glock 17 and my wife the Glock 26 for the last 17 years a couple years ago I got the p365XL to try optics on and it retired my wife's 26 almost immediately, the canik rival retired the 34 for target gun but my 17 is very sentimental so I'm starting to feel like a 1911 guy holding on to it as my primary care when I know better option are available now.😂
They're so damn goofy, but I love the long slide glocks. I have no clue why, but I am just strangely attracted to them.
Long slide 1911s, too. The hardballer is so good-looking. I guess playing tons of Hitman when I was younger helped with that.

Nice...I just bought my 17L gen3 2 weeks ago...just to let you all know....these shoot very accurately out of the box...I did need to oil the slide because of feed issues...but after the oiling....ran like a dream..
Did you drive your New car/truck away from the showroom 4 qts low on oil also? It no difference
@johndeere1951a I was never a glock guy...but did buy this one...and many videos were saying for a glock use very little oil...so..I did ...I stripped down the pistol and cleaned it and put a couple drops on the slide and such....but at the range...wasn't enough...

😮 Would appreciate the beavertail extension without the added girth of the full backstrap. Won't be long before someone comes out with an aluminum or steel aftermarket dust cover nose piece I'm sure.

Are they compatible with Timney triggers? Glock triggers work just fine for me, but I'm considering grabbing one for an upgrade.
With the exception of the barrel and slide, it is identical to the Gen5 G17. (Really ALL of the Gen5 double stack 9mm and 40 S&W Glocks.)

They are all built on p80 frames so gen 3 but i have 3 glock 17L 2 with rmr cuts all with timney triggers
im guessing those Gucci bob cuts for the covers will now be like 30 dollars or something since its plastic and doesnt require milling when you can just make a plastic mold or maybe even 3D print it out of carbon fiber?
The Gen 5 Glock 17L long slide looks interesting but I'll stick with my Gen 3 Glock 1934 long slide. It's a Glock 19 fitted with a Glock 34 slide with a Lone Wolf Distributor 19XL barrel and a LWD slide adaptor.
Cool, I didn't even know the 34 slide would fit on a 19.
@@hansblitz7770 With adapters yeah they fit with no gaps. Otherwise what limits you in Glock slide/barrel selection fitment, is the barrel itself since Gen3's used different locking lug/barrel setups for each size gun. Gen 5 barrels are all based on the Gen3 19 lug so you can drop a Gen5 any size barrel in a Gen3 19. Makes way more sense.
Short grip long slide is also a vibe and balances really well. I cut my G34 grip to a G19 size, and cut a PSA compact Dagger down to a G26 grip.
But glad they Gen5'ed it. I work at the counter and get asked for 17L's quite often..
I had no idea these existed, the G40 10mm is this long though.
You know...this in 10mm with a Flux chassis on it would be an amazing backpacking gun.

The Glock 40 10mm is almost as long. It is only .05 inches shorter. You can shoot 40 S&W out of 10mm, although you may need a lighter recoil spring for reliability.
Now they can give us the Glock 40 mos Gen 5 or the 24 next

i have a gen3 g24 and i dont want a gen5 24 to come out, i friggin hate the gen5s way too meny things i dont like. ill never get a glock after gen4

I have a 17L Gen 3. It has a KKM barrel, Timney Alpha trigger, and Kensight adjustable sights. My HK USP Elite is good, but my modded 17L has a better trigger, better sights, better grip, and 25 yards groups prove it to at the very least rival my HK. I realize the grip is subjective. The other factors are not. Overall, for half the price.

I loved my Glock 41 so long 45
34 came after the 17L because the 1911 race gun guys got butthurt when a $600 Glock was beating out their tricked out rigs and they came up with the rule that the gun has to fit in a certain size box in order to qualify. Glock made the 34 just to fit in that box

The G34 barrel is 5.31" long
The G17L barrel is 6.02" long. Gets you that much closer to the bullseye 👍
I owned the G34 along with my 17L Gen3. I sold the G34. I think the G17L feels better. It's a keep forever gun.

I'll buy a Gen5 and judge it against my Gen3 G17L. I'll sell the one that I think doesn't feel better. I sold my G34 Gen4 because I enjoyed the 17L Gen3 more.

I'll never understand why there's this niche category of XL autoloader pistols. I don't care if the 9mm is coming out of an SBR it's still just 9x19mm. If you want a hand cannon you get a revolver and yes the Desert Eagle exists but that doesn't make it reliable or realistically sustainable in terms of ammo and parts availability. AKMs for example will continue to mag dump even as you pour a bucket of sand into the internals with zero lubrication and can be temporarily fixed with random junk you have laying around, until you find one of the many parts in circulation in virtually every single part of the world and the standard caliber(7.62x39) is very much capable of reliably protecting you from wild hogs or a pack of coyotes. I can't say the same for an AR-15 in 5.56x45mm NATO. The .22-250 Remington is proof that standard 5.56 casings simply lack the capacity to really send the round.
and yet it's still a polymer gun with a shit trigger.

@@Scott_Buchanan Sounds like a problem with the competition rule set if everyone is forced to resort to utilizing these snowflake models of the firearm instead of what people actually use and carry on a daily basis. Fun fact: a recent study found that men with small penises typically don't own any guns at all while gun ownership among men with large penises is in record numbers.
