    You can paint those camo-blots by dry brushing on moist surface.
    Use suitable slow thinner like saliva(for acrylics) or turpentine ( for enamel) to wet the surface and dabble the plots with unthinned paint. The paint will dissolve at edges and create air-brush like fade.

    The main difference between the 109E-3 and E-4 were the armoured headrest and the square canopy on the latter. The E-3 could also be retrofitted with the parts mentioned above.

    FIrst of all, thank you for your channel! Just a remark... In January 1940 there was no German Jagdgeschwader based in Holland, nor did it fly in Dutch airspace. The invasion of Holland did not occur until may 5th 1940. I think it should be august 1940 (www.asisbiz.com/il2/Bf-109E/JG54.III/pages/Messerschmitt-Bf-109E4-9.JG54-Yellow-13-Anton-Schon-Holland-Oct-1940-0D.html )

    TBH i would advise every beginner to choose the same kit (E3 variant), with the Battle of Britain paint scheme (A55106), to avoid messing around with the worm camo

    • @ModelMinutes
      @ModelMinutes  Před 4 lety +1

      Agreed! Although this is a skill level 1, the painting scheme makes it much harder!

    Hi Matt. Love your channel as it helped me so much on my second journey into model making and just happen to be in the middle of the starter kit version. I just wanted to give you a tip that I got from Nic's Models that I found extremely helpful before I got a good snips. When removing tiny and therefore fragile parts from the sprue using a hobby knife place some blue tack under the part. This will give support while cutting and will also prevent the part "pinging" away and then being lost to the carpet monster. I hope that that this is helpful to the beginners (like me).

    • @ModelMinutes
      @ModelMinutes  Před 4 lety +1

    • @ModelMinutes
      @ModelMinutes  Před 3 lety

      nope, this particular kit doesn't come with paint. There is a starter (or gift) set version of the Bf109E-3, which is essentially the same kit which does come with paint and cement, but it has a much simpler paint scheme. I did an unboxing on that one here: czcams.com/video/NWHsWtxot_c/video.html

  • @jamesbond6889
    @jamesbond6889 Před rokem

    I wonder if you'd be better off building the 109E-3 rather than the E-4 since the E-3 has less decals to worry about and an easier paint scheme

    • @ModelMinutes
      @ModelMinutes  Před rokem

      That comes down to preference I suppose, the E3 version does come as a “gift” set with some paints and things, whilst this is considered a “classic kit” and aimed at modellers with more experience

    By the way about the kinda rough windows on the kit, it seems that every airfix kit I got over here in America seems to always have broken bits or in 3 airfix kits very fatal, build stopping flash.

    • @ModelMinutes
      @ModelMinutes  Před 3 lety +1

      Part A5 is not used in this Bf109E-4 model kit. Airfix included it on the sprues as it represents cockpit armour in the Bf109E-7 model which gets inserted into the cockpit canopy. As the E-4 did not have this component you won't find it listed in the instructions, only the E-7 version of the kit will need it
      Edit:
      For reference, here is the E7 kit on scalemates: www.scalemates.com/kits/airfix-a02062-messerschmitt-bf-109e-7-e-7-trop--142692
      And here are the instructions for that E7 version where you will find A5 included in step 14: www.scalemates.com/products/img/6/9/2/142692-74-instructions.pdf
