  • Hello and welcome to another video series of mine that I call, "Let's build a thing."
In tihs video I will be showing the build process of Airfixes model airplane the Bf109E-4 in 1:72 scale.
Product code: A01008A. The model is very simple and has 64 pieces. Length of the model is 120mm and width 137mm.
Decal markings are copied from the Bf109 as flow by Oberleutnant Anton Schön, 9/Jagdgeschwader 54, Holland, January 1940.
If you want to follow along and wonder what paint's I use here they are:
Matt yellow: I used my one mix Tamiya XF3 + x26...... HUMBROL 24
    Matt black I used Tamiya XF1 .................................... HUMBROL 33
Gun MetalI used Tamiya XF56 .................................... HUMBROL 53
Matt aircraft blue [RLM 65] RC271................................ HUMBROL 65
    Matt grau [RLM02] RC265 ............................................ HUMBROL 240
    Matt schwartzgrun [RLM 70] RCRC274 .......................HUMBROL 241
    Matt dunkelgrau [RLM 71] RC275 ...............................HUMBROL 242
    In addition I used:
TAMIYA FX63 for the cockpit, engine bay, undercarriage and wheels
    TAMIYA XF85 for tires
    TAMIYA X-18 for HUD
AK11100 Light brown for the straps
    AK11001+AK11021 for dry brush
For building the model any cement will do. Some sanding stick and putty.
For finishing the model I used MIG AMMO nylon thread to simulate the antenna.

The Airfix Bf109 is a great little kit. As I understand it the real Bf109s had a seam along the central fuselage so the kits require less filling than other models. An excellent and entertaining video with a lovely Bf109 at the end.

Thank you ChancerNW :)) And yes it's true. There is supposed to be a seam line. Oh well...:)))

Very nice. A far cry from the 1/72 Revell kit I am nearly done with that was made from 1963 tooling! ;-D

Very very nice job! And video too! Thank you, sir! ;)
Note: I believe there are supposed to be seams/lines on top and bottom of the plane between fuselage halves, behind a canopy, on Bf-109s, so not that much puttying and sanding necessary... ;)

Hi Roland :) Thanks very much :))) I think you are right. I went on the mighty Google and saw some plans for the airplane. I usualy go of the drawing that is included in the kit. But not BF109 had this line on top and bottom?? I found a bunch of photos and did not notice it :/ OH well it is what it is. I prefere the smooth transition :)
