Apparently once you start in on the plastic surgery "improvements," you can't stop (if money is no object). I remember once getting waylaid in a mall by some guy in front of a "beauty" shop. He wanted to try out some so-called magic wrinkle eraser concoction around my eyes. I was super tired or I never would have gone in there - I didn't have my wits about me). Anyway, this incredibly expensive potion did make the lines near my eyes completely disappear and the skin tighten up (it was a glue-like spackle he was trying to flog for 700 bucks with a "deep discount" of course). Anyway, after I saw the disappeared lines I told him that now other signs of aging on my face were much more apparent and what was next, plastic surgery? And the guy, with a totally straight face, told me they did indeed have a plastic surgery clinic in the store too. Anyway, attempts to "fix" the signs of aging are never ending and then you end up looking like a freak (Madonna is a good example). A decadent society always collapses as we're now experiencing. Or, otherwise stated, widespread societal decadence is one sign that collapse is approaching.

The smaller lips were so cute on her! I think it made her look youthful. I also really liked the roundness of her original eyes, they went so well with her other features and they were a bit of a signature of hers, which explains why she looks so different now. Yes, the thin lips and round eyes are what made her beautiful. None of these features are beautiful or ugly in isolation. It’s how they all come together in interesting ways that the rest of us are drawn to. I think when we look at our own selves it is harder to see what people might view as aesthetically beautiful about our face, partly because we are mentally isolating our features more and critiquing them.

    • @soilgrasswaterair
      @soilgrasswaterair Před 11 měsíci +25

Maybe a big part is also to shift what is viewed as beautiful? Why is it that someone gaining a little bit of weight, getting lines in their face etc. is considered to be not beautiful. Some years ago my friends and I walked pass this woman at the beach walk, and she must have been in her late 60s. She had waist length hair that was white, neon green sneakers and a one piece workout suit. She had the most beautiful energy I’ve ever noticed in a stranger and she had this confidence in her stride and all of us (my friends and I), took note of her. Many people would have just went passed her without noticing her as someone special because she was no longer in her 20s pr early 30s, but in my opinion being allowed to live life and age is a privilege and living until you’re older isn’t a negative and a body that shows you have lived and is living is a besutiful thing. Maybe my view on this is different also due to having all of my 4 grandparents in my life into adulthood?! The value of a human can’t be in the lack of lines and in perky breasts and smooth skin...in my opinion. It makes me sad to see/hear how harsh some are to others. Even children won’t escape this taunting and goes in for surgery on their ears because they are bullied unless their ears are basically flat to their head. Why do people raise their kids to be so cruel? (As in not actively having conversations about people not having to look the same.)
I’m still inpressed by the work Ryan did when she played an alcoholic in ”When a man loves a woman”. A very tough subject, but still important!

The dangerous thing about these procedures is that when it goes well, rather than enjoying the finished outcome, people think that means they should get more. The more you get the more likely one of them will go wrong. Time to throw the towel in when we reach our 50s I think lol as its a losing battle Just look after our skin and health as best as we can and grow into our old faces.. Most people who try fight it constantly with surgery just end up looking bizarre.

Beauty does come from animation, the animation that appears when interacting with other people. When you're interacting with other people you are not focused on yourself and inspecting your face for every "imperfection." Sad era we're living in. when the photograph is everything.

She looked great up until this year! It appears that over the course of getting filler over the years, she had some dissolved and she looked much better without it. I remember when her lips changed and people were calling her a trout mouth - so cruel. I'm 53, have had nothing done and I'm happy with my appearance. However, that may change in 7-10 years. Up until 60 years old, I think Meg looked beautiful. Her biggest error was ever altering her philtrum/lips and her adorable nose. All women begin looking more masculine as we age, as we lose estrogen. That's a lot of what we're seeing that has changed naturally.

She doesn't seem to have gained weight, so her cheeks wouldn't be so full naturally. She hasn't made a public appearance in 6 months, and she may have had the filler just before going to a public event, which would explain the swelling. I always think that distinctive lips, whatever they are, look beautiful. Whether they are thin or thick, or one lip is outsized or undersized, or they are very defined or very wide, etc. They always make a face interesting and endearing.

I don't think Meg Ryan started out with thin lips though, they always looked very nicely shaped and medium size. I do agree that fillers usually looks bad in lips. It changes the natural shape usually for the worse.

After watching many of your videos, particularly this one, I realized why people always thinking I’m underage even though im 35-I have a large amount of fat in my face disproportionate to my body and big puffy lips. I used to find it annoying but now that I see that it’s something people are striving for I guess I don’t feel so self conscious about looking like a 20 year old guy

Hi dr. Linkov! I think that she had cheek implants rather than fat transfer. I had them myself and they completely destroyed my face. I wanted to have them removed and was told it was impossible since it would make me look even worse than before. I am sure they were not installed correctly, not underneath the muscle, so now if I smile I look like Meg. Needless to say I almost never smile now :( I wouldn't wish this procedure on my worst enemy!

Increasing height on forehead when we age has a lot to do with the natural "receding hairline" which happens to women also in their 50s and 60s, and continues - along with thinning hair! I'm in my 60s with three older sisters and all of our hair has changed.

Love your videos! Really sheds significant light on what is actually done (surgeries) vs what celebs claim (skincare, makeup). I do wonder what she would have looked like if she had just naturally aged instead of having these surgeries. Perhaps AI could give us a hint.

I had a jaw reconstruction surgery a decade ago. Due to failed orthognatic surgery. I don't look like myself. It took me years to look in the mirror again. I held my eyes tightly shut when I went into the bathroom to avoid the mirror. I did it for so long that I developed a facial tic, so I stopped doing that. Finally, ten years later I look in the mirror. But I don't like myself. I see old pictures of myself and I looked 100% better. I ruined myself, actually the first surgery ruined me, and I will regret it forever. And mine wasn't even plastic surgery. I just wanted to fix crooked teeth.

@@kellilien1736’m sorry about that, sounds really traumatizing!
Look what everyone keeps saying about zac efron, & he said he broke his jaw and had to get it fixed and it changed his look a bit, and some people are either saying he had cosmetic procedures, or other people saying he’s less attractive
How much if that is just aging and how much of it your surgery, I wonder?
10 years w out looking in a mirror seems like a long time,
Do you think that caused or contributed to dysmorphia not seeing yourself or giving yourself time to adjust?
Have you spoken to people close to you about this? I’m asking cuz I’m really wondering how much of it in your case is from the surgery, like have people in your life we say you look like a completely different person as well? Have they gotten used to it over time?

2013, surgery took her natural beauty away. She’d still been attractive with lines and bags under her eyes. The 2013 procedures really changed her face radically, not in a good way.

Though Meg is 5 years older than I, I was often told I resembled her back in my 20's. I took that as a flattering compliment because I thought she was adorable and I loved her as an actress. I haven't done anything to my face and wished she hadn't, either. There's so much pressure in her industry to remain looking youthful, it hurts my heart to see what it's done to her looks. 😔

The algorithm has been throwing your vids up for the past few days so, I've been watching possible plastic surgery vids for the last few days. Pausing to comment on this Meg Ryan one because I absolutely appreciated the medical knowledge you share about all the muscles in the face - including shots of the actual muscles. I was entertained by the other vids from you; I feel like I actually learned useful info from this vid. Thanks for the upload!
edited to add: Well, wait, I did learn that facelifts leave evidence at the tragus* muscle, near the ears. I don't know what a tragus muscle is or why it gets distorted (like, is that where a doc sews up?). Anyway, adding this because I did learn *something* in the earlier vids.
