I passed on them. And I was in high school when these first came out and I had them. Looking at my collection, I have 5 pairs that I don't even wear often. I like the shoe, but not enough to add to my collection.

Facts, sis, pick a lane!! I coped the Military Blue 4s and returned them to the Nike Outlet this past weekend. People who work there were shocked!!😲They were like, not the 4s man, what's wrong with them? I told the guys i'm just not feeling them🤷🏾♂️
Yeah I did the same thing, wasn’t really feeling them but fell into the hype. Returned all my pairs.

It does feel like people have really conformed to one of a handful of beliefs based off of social media. In regard to buying shoes it feels like a lot of people forget how we let a lot of “ Heat” releases sit in 2016-2019 when they were retailing at $190+.
Prior to lock down people let a lot of shoes just chill out and I remember it, same as you. The natural cycle of buying has returned for a lot of people but others in sneakers are stuck in 2020.

Hello, hello... I took an L on the SD and on release day! So I waited, then went for a pair on Stock X 11.5 @ $254. Not too bad, it is for what it is. My classmates were mostly 17 to 28 ish and I just graduated

I went for them, but I had planned on it for a while. I AM being very selective with what I DO buy nowadays. Not planning on buying anything else but Olympic 6s and Olive 9s.... maybe KD weathermans but that's dropping too close ro the 4s. I try not to get more than 1 pair in the same month at these retail prices. It has gotten insane. The prices I'm used to has me feeling like im paying resell from retailers. Smh
With that being said, buy what YOU like if you can afford to. I appreciate your content. You're like the only one talking kicks with some sense.... everyone else is all like, "must cop!! Get them now before they go up!! Double up! Triple up!!" Lmao 🤣
Stick to your plan and wishing you luck on anything you want. The 6s are nice. These prices have reached a midway point between what we had for retail and what resellers were charging...meaning Nike is getting back some of that lost margin resellers enjoyed.
I appreciate it. I just can't create content in that way understanding how disposable income isn't limited, we could all stand to do a little better. If I'm able to set that example of being more intentional than I already was with my buying behavior to young adults who tune in, that's a win. I am not tripling up on a single pair lol

People gonna say, "But it's an OG colorway and in a closer-to-OG shape than ever before" as if it's gonna make me go, "Oh shit, you're right. Let me just shell out $215 on a shoe that I'm probably gonna wear once or twice and then shelve it until it crumbles in a decade."
Honestly though, I don't have any nostalgia towards Jordans so I can look at it from a more detached perspective. I think they look good but I already know my wider feet don't like 4's, and I don't know if the quality and sacrificing my pinky-toes are worth the $215, which for Jordan brand has usually been a no for me.
BINGO! Them screaming it's an OG is supposed to magically make any of us want to waste money on something that won't be worn. I am definitely not wasting money anymore if something isn't comfortable. Going up a half size helps for me in 4s but I also value more comfortable retros on feet or brands altogether. All of us need to detach more from stuff.
Came for the sneaker culture commentary, stayed for the health truth bombs at 7:00 haha. Just like personal finances in my early 20s, I read a lot of warnings and cautionary tales of people in their 30s who wish they took better care of their health earlier. Your grievances with hyped releases are something I can really understand, and I'm lucky to have been around sneaker heads who've been very understanding and open-minded past hype. (Even one who told me he's interested in investments and pursuing his first house!) I'm also noticing this dichotomy between sneaker culture on social media VS real life. Over in Vancouver, BC a lot of the shoes I see are simply neutral Dunks or Sambas from the average consumer, not necessarily super passionate sneakerheads. It's a lot more peaceful away from the screen, but when you're a content creator I'm starting to notice WOW. Lots of heated emotions over something that you don't have opportunities to "find someone IRL and start arguing" over.
I think looking back a lot of people wish they took better care of their health, made better financial choices and many other things we only respect in retrospection. Real life vs SM sneaker culture is vastly different and I am glad you have the change to be around sensible open-minded people in the culture. Neutral sneakers make sense, as do simple classic ones? Why? Because people want to easily toss on a pair they love with almost anything they're wearing and worry about everything else in their day. Like SENSIBLE people lol. I can't imagine these people keep this energy in real life because no one who has a life would entertain it.
@@TalksWithTJ Coincidentally as I'm reading your response, a woman (dressed for her office job) on the bus I'm riding to my last ever classes is wearing white Sambas! At the age 22, I'm understanding better "why" these classic and neutral pairs are all I see. People grow up and have to tend to other responsibilities, and while commodities may change in price it's value that becomes a higher concern. In my now 3 years in sneakers, I'm aware enough of the rapid lifestyle changes and responsibilities I have to uphold. But I'm blessed to have pairs that do both!
My SB Blazer Parras, a pair I paid slightly extra for, gets worn at least 3 times a week. And there's enough SB History and Olympics artwork on it to set it apart!

Let me add to your argument. I’ll be 53 in September and so Jordan in the NBA was my era.
It’s crazy to me that as an “old head” retro Jordans are more about nostalgia for me as it is for many of my generation.
Most of my generation are priced out of the sneaker game by youngsters who don’t know or care anything about MJ other than seeing his shoes as a way to make money.
I’ve been able to pick up a few retro’s but many are priced out of the game with ridiculous resale costs.
It’s the way of the World I guess. Once you add the love of money everything goes to sh*t. Sorry you were treated that way but keep doing what you’re doing young lady.
