If anyone's curious, the Canadian pronunciation of "about" is a result of a linguistic phenomenon called the "Canadian rising" or the "Canadian shift". Yes, we have actual terms named specifically for how we say things. We "raise" our vowel sounds, which alters the way they sound. So yes...to an average American "about" sounds like "aboot" when said in a generalized Canadian accent, even though we say it much closer to "aboat" (in comparison to our American neighbour's pronunciation).

There's... a lot of Canadian accents. It's mostly similar but in more rural parts it can get quite distinct. And of course Québec and other Francophones have they're accents too. The First Nations and Métis as well. There's a lot of Chinook words in the trades, like "skookum" so that has accents as well.

Canadians only really have accents depending where in Canada they are from. Most people in Vancouver and Toronto (prior to the trend Toronto accent) and other GTA cities don't have an accent. Someone from Winnipeg, or Newfoundland, Nova Scotia. It's a different story.

The east coast and Newfoundland have very strong accents but when you go tobb by western Canada Vancouver they have much less of one. Kind of like how different areas of the US have much different accents. Everyone has an accent. The way Americans talk sounds like a major accent to me especially the further down south you go but they say WE are the ones with accents

It's all regional. We have strong accents tucked away in places so that even most Canadians don't know until they get popularized... such as Letterkenny, the accent is central Ontario.
But I have never heard anyone honestly say aboot, and even aboat I wouldn't say is common... less I say it and dont even knows it.
