Truly a sound not matched any where else on Earth. You don't see a couple thousand of the planet's finest brass players playing any song in one place every day.
That much power is too much for one person to have! Probably a good 1000 of the best marchers in the world playing the exact thing at the exact same time. WOWZERS
You took the words right out of my mouth. I watch this so many times and I get the EXACT same reaction every time. I get to watch it live for the first time in a few days and I just cant wait to experience the best concert in the world. I am always at lost for words when I watch these guys online.
So true. I love the boomyness of it, and the energy is unreal. I was there semifinals night and couldn't even hold my camera still because of the goosebumps I was getting. Unforgetable experience. :)
I love how simple yet affective older DCI was especially PR. To me the best part of any show is when the band is just simply standing and playing the music. Now there’s just so much going on it’s kinda hard to enjoy it.
MOOT1927 Because they think stuff like this is the reason drum corps got stale and was in decline, so gradually all the traditional stuff went in the shredder. At one point, Full Olympic Retreat was at the end of every show. Finals night included corps playing each other off the field with their show music, until the only corps left was the champion.
they only have to move a fraction of an inch in the right spot to make that happen. I imagine they are standing pretty still if you were to look from up close even.
i don't know how many did this...but i know when i marched that year, we didn't really touch up on this song. we maybe rehearsed it like less than 5 times total
The 2006 DCI Fanfare was far better.. It was the loudest damn thing I ever heard in my life. I think I still suffer some hearing loss from it today. Many folks coming out of the stands thought it was over the top, yes it was that loud. you can still find it on CZcams I believe.
Ya, I was in the very front playing it. We had like 5 minutes to memorize it. Lol..Pretty much everyone was making up parts..I don't know about other corps. The lower corps probably had time, because let's face it...They knew they weren't making finals.
Yes I know I'm 4 years late, but I don't care. It stopped after 2013 because of a combination of things. 1 - was timing; pre-2019 they used to march in / announce the corps one by one, which stretched it out by 30-45 extra minutes. It was taking waaay too long to walk out 1 by 1, set down your stuff down, make the block and wait for the scores to come. 2 - was that in Lucas Oil, sound bounces around the entire can, so hearing little details was very noticeable. Meaning, that if someone goofed around during America the Beautiful (thanks Blue Knights), everyone would hear it. 3 - someone above me already mentioned it but DCI felt that stuff like this is the reason drum corps got stale and was in decline, so gradually all the traditional stuff went in the shredder.
Don't the corps always end up back in Indy for finals? I may be wrong but I was under the impression that drum corps had strong roots here....that's why they closed the season at Lucas Oil......
+Jc C It changed a few years ago from Indiana University to Lucas Oil and a few years ago I think it was in Colorado (could be wrong on that one). But I believe Lucas Oil just promised to host finals until 2026, when they'll probably renegotiate the contract.
+Martin Carnahan it changed year to year. 2007, in Pasadena CA was the last year before they moved to IU(2008), and later Indy(2009). Before that, it was Madison WI (2006), Foxborough/Brockton MA (2005), Denver CO(2004)...
Wow... I is old. I marched in 2006. We had World Championships in Camp Randall Stadium in Madison, WI. Camp Randall was considered the Mecca of Drum Corps until this. Actually a lot of people hated the move to Lucas Oil because of the echo originally.
I have great respect for all the performers among DCI, but I really miss the days of "America O Canada" at the finale. I don't like many of these new arrangements. Just doesn't have the same feeling for me.
Truly a sound not matched any where else on Earth. You don't see a couple thousand of the planet's finest brass players playing any song in one place every day.
probably just shy of a thousand brass players. 80 to 90 is the typical range for horn line size and there are 12 corps standing there.
TJ Bach it doesn't matter, there are over 1000 people on the field when they do this
The Golden Brass Summit has 5x as many brass! but yeah ...
I miss when they played America, O Canada
It moves me to tears, I used to try and fight them but I’m not embarrassed anymore.
They need to bring this back. This is an important part of the true pageantry which is drum corps.
please never lose the tradition of the hold over trumpet at the end.
It started out as a bugle when we head Real Drum and bugle Corp.
The singular of corps is corps, not corp.
That much power is too much for one person to have! Probably a good 1000 of the best marchers in the world playing the exact thing at the exact same time. WOWZERS
1000? im thinking like 3000 or so at least
@@baadach3752 12 corps, 80 brass per corp, about 960 people.
@@lukebingham6922 o yep im very stupid only finals not every single competiting corp :/ my bad
More like 12 corps with about 150 a corp.
At the 03 finale in Orlando .. You could feel it as much as you could hear it
Oh man. I remember them announcing we would do that on the field and learning that literally never. Best I've played in my life.
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
🏆
Crown? I heard Crown didnt used to rehearse anything besides show music
Notice how the description says, "No description available." That's because there are no words to describe how epic this is.
Now add drill for all of them
WHY DO WE NOT STILL DO THIS!!!!
You took the words right out of my mouth. I watch this so many times and I get the EXACT same reaction every time. I get to watch it live for the first time in a few days and I just cant wait to experience the best concert in the world. I am always at lost for words when I watch these guys online.
This has always given me the chills since my very first time I have every listened to it. And I have listened to this at least 100 times a year
I miss this
This still gives me goosebumps and brings a tear to my eye. So beautiful!
"No description available." is correct! Speechless!
Gotta love how Spirit's retreat block is a Maltese Cross. Love those guys!
FYI, the music starts at 0:48.
BaconsCastle Boy. Attention spans really have shortened...
my first drum corps finals retreat,,,i access this often,, I never tire of it,,
That bass drum stack dohhhh...
Those are snares
this does no justice compared to actually being at the Lucas Oil Stadium. It's always so amazing!
crazy how great it turns out when almost all of them dont even know it lol.
I have listened to this many times. All I have to say is AWESOME.
So true. I love the boomyness of it, and the energy is unreal. I was there semifinals night and couldn't even hold my camera still because of the goosebumps I was getting. Unforgetable experience. :)
I love this great nation.
That was Excellence! Pure love for the Professional Marching Bands! ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
🏆 🏆 🏆 🏆 🏆 🏆 🏆
this was the first dci show i ever went to and it blew my mind
I’m so grateful to have witnessed this.
I love how simple yet affective older DCI was especially PR. To me the best part of any show is when the band is just simply standing and playing the music. Now there’s just so much going on it’s kinda hard to enjoy it.
Beautiful. I loved coming off Field after retreat an playing your ass off. This is on another level 👏👏🎺🎺
Beautiful I got chills from this !!!!!
From my experience, it's always come from a corps in blue.
It had to be the most awesome experience in person. Excellent
As a Dawgs fan, WOW!! I love it!
spectacular, amazing, brilliant, stunning...the adjectives could keep rolling.
Give me Crown or Give me Death.
Why don't they still do this?
I believe this was in honor of the tenth anniversary of September 11th. Don't quote me.

Ryan Page that is not why
KDS so....... what's the reason?
Finals is always in August, so it wasn't that.
they only have to move a fraction of an inch in the right spot to make that happen. I imagine they are standing pretty still if you were to look from up close even.
So thrilling-what an awesome event! Need to put this years DCI Finals on my schedule now!
Goosebumps.
Just Goosebumps is all I gotta say
Beautiful!
Love those high trumpets!!
One awesome full retreat !.
It's more than likely part of their show's characters. A lot of corps have their guard come on field for the retreat still in character.
my god the last two chords brought tears to my eyes lol. oh god i cant wait to hear it live in a couple months :) MUSICAL ORGASM!!!
This gave me chills. just...
one word: AWESOME!!!!!
Holy shit... real tears rn
@VerdantBlue Thx.
Wow, actually respectable, nobody just playing hooplah, sounds awesome :)
Crazy hearing some lead trumpets stick out, not bad..Lots of power. haha
AMAZING
Thats awesome.
i don't know how many did this...but i know when i marched that year, we didn't really touch up on this song. we maybe rehearsed it like less than 5 times total

I was there!!!
I think this is the sound you're going to hear when God comes back to Earth.
I AM PROUD TO BE AN AMERICAN!! WOWSERS!!!!
best thing ever
CHILLSSSSS
Got a buddy who's lead for em;
WHOOOOOO :D
Ya, I was in the very front playing it. We had like 5 minutes to memorize it. Lol..Pretty much everyone was making up parts..I don't know about other corps. The lower corps probably had time, because let's face it...They knew they weren't making finals.
Scouts in the house!
Look at all those camera flashes coming from the Bluecoats haha.
How are they staying together? The corps on the end zones should sound like they are atleast a full secind off from the other corps
Were all of the finalists playing? Or just the one that won?
messageofDEATH all of them. sorry im 5 years late.
0:48
double C!?
Garrett Crook I only heard a double G
It's the mirrors on their shakos reflecting the light..
Why don’t they still do this??

:O gorgeous
wowow is that like every drum corps that performed?
ROBERT! I SAW YOU TODAY!
lol this year we had to play simple gifts
A big, blasty marching band.
Everyone's playing
why are you all talking about UGA? If you look, the endzone says Indianapolis
Its DCI, what did you expect?
HOW CAN I JOIN THIS BAND? ;-)
pretty sure that parts of their uniforms reflecting.
Can we hear it on bugles? Because it's indoors, people's ears would bleed. 100 bugles would have a higher db reading.
now wait is it just cadets playing this cause there is no way they could make that sound on their own that crazy
Why can't we open the Olympics with this?
The reverb is too much for the mic to take! Haha
waar staat jubal
???
uh no, that happened once with the blue devils because they lost. sometimes it sounds off because of the spread of players, speaking from experience
When amplification equipment wasnt needed

Edward Murray sweet, good drum corps trivia, thanks!

Actually, one of my friends was a Euph for Madison and he was playing "The Little Mermaid" lmao!
im the 69th commenter
Crown tubas... LOL!
A lot of time people will just blast random things
Everybody says that tubas, baritones and mellophones are the core of the band.... but at the end of the day, nothing beats some good trumpet players
The show was Rach Star lol dude chill.
@jboy1ish *cough* baritone ftw *cough*
This could be a joke saying Bluecoats take notes..
literally just jizzed my pants
No I don't think you can !!
U can barely hear it......
I have great respect for all the performers among DCI, but I really miss the days of "America O Canada" at the finale. I don't like many of these new arrangements. Just doesn't have the same feeling for me.
I still have my copy of "America O Canada" somewhere
Truth is marching on!
hehe hymn
EVERYTHING could use a little less trumpet...
and a LOT MORE MELLO
O YEAH
Herman Bratcher no. superior trumpet race.
Maybe they should do a “reprise” and head into Washington DC, and play this on the whitehouse grounds, and wake up sleepy joe
