Y'all can't tell me you don't hear kinetic noise
@@isekai_neo not at all imo
@@isekai_neo yeah but crown was first so
This tuba line doesn't get enough appreciation. It sounds as if this hornline just carried around subwoofers, and every note they play is so solid and glorious.
This is DCI we’re talking about, after all.
@@jordancampos6864 Crown has an insane low brass! Quite literally the reason I want to switch from trumpet to Bari for marching. I have always loved how projected they sound and how much they support the high brass. They aren't afraid to play!!
BearDoof
If you ignore the “This tuba line doesn’t get enough appreciation” part of Brendnn Tate’s comment, you’ll see that I’m PRAISING Crown’s tuba line.
@@jordancampos6864 oh no no I know! I'm saying you're right 🤣
BearDoof
Oh okay, sorry for the confusion!
I would love for this horn line to time-travel back to some 1970's corps show at a state fair or something. Just transplant them in time and watch the judges just freaking faint.
Channel Three. One of The best comments I've seen on here. Plus I agree with what you said, I'm literally laughing to myself right now thinking about the 2014 Carolina Crown hornline going against a 1970s Santa Clara Vanguard, it would re write everything!!!!! 😂😂😂😂😂😂
they'd probably be disqualified for playing in Bb in 1970. :-)
K70 08B shut up I wanna imagine it
Can you imagine Santa Clara or Blue Devils from the seventies or eighties experiencing Carolina Crown dropping the hammer can you imagine the reaction of the other Drum Corps or even better yet the judges?
Arnold Sherrill what about inferno or something
It's a yes from me.
Simon Cowell lol
You changed your name lol
with the changed name it just doesnt work
anymore lol
No te preguntamos Crack
That Jupiter hit when they are all on high brass makes me feel some type of way.
P00
3:00 - 3:24 is the most beautiful and epic piece of music I've ever heard in my entire life.
210...
Miles Alexander god dammit who am I what is life after hearing that
Okay but the other 2014 warmup has an even better arrangement of the warmup in my opinion-- please look it up!!!
DO you know what song in their repertoire it is?
Agreed, can’t stop listening after I discovered that little riff.
Put it on half speed at 2:19 and you can here how how clear and resonant those individual double tonged notes are...crazy
You know they’re good when they sound amazing under severe scrutiny like that
the fact that the low brass had trumpets at one part makes this 10x better. I literally haven't stopped watching this since 2014.
5 years later. Are you still watching it?
@@sqosx6015 I am. Cant get over how good this is
Goes to show the level of talent needed to be a part of this.
2:58 is debatably my favorite part of DCI. Something about it just feels so beautiful while also being aggressive and fast.
Best 5th place show of all time
Tied with cadets this year
I've seen this a thousand times and I still get goosebumps every time I watch it
Just unbelievable how powerful and precise this horn section is. "Out of This World" was a perfect name for the show. Exceptional!
This hornline's sound is genuinely organ-like, a quality all hornlines should strive for.
The hardest Brass book to ever touch a field, and it was CLEANNNN. The fact that they didn’t win Brass or medal overall is a travesty.
and blue devils had an easier show...what were the judges on that year?? yea they did everything basically perfect but cmon. at least crown shoulve won brass that year
@@Ace_v120 BD was so clean that year that it overruled everything else
Their drum line was just so mediocre. They have costed them so much over the several years
Crowns book was harder that year but everything else was just so outclassed by BD in 2014 it didn’t even matter. Especially the writing, BD2014 is as close to a perfect show we’ll ever get
@@Ace_v120seeing both in person I understand why devils brass scored higher. Their writing was so much better to the rest of the show and those guys literally mastered every single style in the show. It’s so hard to say at this level that one was much better but if you were there you’d understand. I luckily was on tour that year and able to watch 70% of the devils shows and they absolutely deserved a win in ever single category
ALL THE HITS!!!!!!! SO CLEAN!!!!!!!! 45/10
Second in brass my ass -.-
what i was thinking howd they lose that year in brass?
@@ImVee10they didn’t lose to the Cadets. They lost to the Blue Devils.
The syncopation at 1:30 is absolutely insane
1:40 - 2:28 might be the best section of pure brass brilliance in the history of DCI.
Others may not feel the same way but I think things like this are inspiring. I strive to be the best trumpet playing I can be and things like this just make me all happy and full of hope. I absolutely love crown and what they do.
same
I see Star of Indiana in them.
Matt Harloff was the drum major for 93 Star, so makes sense
Such a seriously clean hornline! Wow!!!
In case anyone still doesn't realize this, from 1:37-2:28 the entire low brass section is playing trumpet.
Cory you da man!
2:28 is the very definitely of love of music. Frickin inspiring.
By far the best hornline in DCI
Antonio King ACCURATE
But they didn’t win high brass?
To think that the low brass learned another instrument for 1:40 is insane. the baritone and tubas are playing trumpet and mello. AND they sound so freaking good
3:00 when she asks about my tongue game
+Kevin Lindorfer doesn't mean you don't use your tongue ;)
Vincent Garza uhhh actually yeah it does
antonio benitez ha
oh my god I just died laughing! And tried to explain to someone who doesn't play instruments...they didn't understand -.-
Except most of that lick is slurred
How. The crap. Did this not win Jim Ott.
Parker Mathews not good enough??
Theinfinitato you spelled crown wrong
DFiscus1 take the not out of that sentence then your right
Wrong year for this show
Theinfinitato watch the slowed down version and tell me this isn’t clean again lmfao, i think bd deserved to win, but brass shouldve gone to crown
Played this for my friend in the car. He had never heard it before...we almost got into an accident.
Def the best horn line that yr
This is why I love CC. Their shows are so diverse in rhythms and style yet they flow so well. Between the HUGE(well balanced) sound they put out during the whole show(but especially the holds. Like seriously, your getting a cinder block wall in your face every time!!) and the ridiculously fast licks they play, I don't see any Drum Corps steeling the title of my favorite any time soon. I hope CC keeps this up. If they do, I'll bet they'll have a couple more DCI titles before the decade is out.
7 years later:
This aged poorly lol, CC still only won once but damn if their hornline ain’t still arguably the best
I actually shouted while watching this and woke my mom up
I don't know how they didn't get best brass caption
This is the best brass i ever heard
This is an iconic lot. With full respect to the definition of iconic.
I am grateful this exists.
Absolutely beautiful.
Slightly heard the Bluecoats in the background. Hymn of Axciom.
Will someone PLEASE put this in slow motion so we can hear how incredibly clean this truly is?
It'll happen. :)
DrumCorpsTube well you see there this new feature where u click on settings and then you can select a speed.....
Click the settings option on the video, under speed. You're welcome. :)
Here it is! Much better sound quality than just changing the speed on this video's options. czcams.com/video/107BU8YSqg0/video.html
DrumCorpsTube Thank you!! :)
2:56 is amazing
That fanfare...so good.
2:20 Dang that’s amazing
How the judge can go to sleep every night knowing he gave the "whole notes, standstill" Blue Devils the Jim Ott over this is amazing to me.
Blue Devils hate is such a beautiful thing to watch. 17 in 2015!
Look at the recap. The judge on Finals night nailed it. Crown took the content category because they played more notes. BD took the achievement category because they were cleaner. From my seat in the 600 level on the 45 yard line, I would agree completely with the brass judge.
Michael Alsop i personally know the finals night brass judge and i completely agree, He was 100 percent correct in the judging. it's not about how difficult the music is, it's about how clean it sounds
It wasn't just that BD was clean in terms of rhythm - attacks and releases, etc. They were also super in tune and had a big, balanced sound. I loves me some crown, but BD's hornline was ridiculous.
Now that Crown has finally proven themselves, got a championship, and are not demoted purely because of politics, I try to think less about who-scored-what, and more about "this is some friggin epic music - let me get this in my soul."
Scheater5 Ridiculous is 1:39 when the bari's, euph's, and tubas put down their instruments and pick up a TRUMPET for the hottest horn licks in DCI this summer. ....and second place for hottest horn lick isn't even close.... Let's review; entire horn line on trumpet or mello, spread out over 35 yards back field, playing the sickest syncopation with the sickest mello runs cutting through the ensemble, and stacking the sickest 3 octave high brass cord I've ever heard. There was no comparison this year for repertoire, because for the hottest horn section of the whole show, most of the horn line WASN'T ON THEIR OWN INSTRUMENT!!!!!!!
I sort of feel that Crown is the new Star of Indiana in that they are not really appreciated fully by judges etc. Just think, Star '93 didn't win and that showed pretty much single handedly revolutionized the drum corps we watch today. To me, Crown is at the forefront. For the 2014 show to not be at least top two, crazy! For them not to win in '09, nuts! They will break through I hope, but they may have to do something drastic and unexpected. Don't misunderstand me either, I'm not hating on other corps' either, they are all awesome and deserving of their awards. Lord knows the Cadets were pushing the envelope for awhile too
Tom Borning the 2014 show had way to much visual dirt, dirty percussion, and design flops to medal.
Percussion kills them every year not that they are bad drumline they just need to bump them up to top 4 drumline and they will start winning all the time .
2019 and IM STILL HERE

I come back to this ALL THE TIME
2:10-2:28 gives me chills every time
Always leads every hornline in clarity. Great stuff
Still one of the best lots ever recorded.
Amazing!!!
I am in love with this hornline.
2:24 that OVERTONE!!!!
It’s like it was being played by some flutes or something
Man! That staccato at 3:13 😩🙌🏾🙌🏾
BEAUTIFUL
They are soooo good. Thanks for posting.
loooove this director!!!
And WHY did CC not take Brass caption?
I feel you. I'm not saying BD didn't do some crazy shit, but Crown really deserved high brass.
OMG. the brass. I am in love with this.
awesome!!...thank you
eu amo isso!
My fav. horn line of 2014
This to me was the best crown hornline of all time! The show was poorly designed, but this might be the best hornline ever in DCI . Really was that clean and good .
I mean it wasn’t even the best hornline that year but you do you
@@natehollenbeck6348 that's your opinion, you do you
@@loganjohnson8010 No, like, Crown lost on finals night in Brass to BD. They weren't the best hornline in 2014.
@@booker9816 ik that but we all have opinions
this gets me everytime
i made a second account so i could press like twice
Perfection!
Double tonguing on low brass must be so hard….
Those articulations!!!!! So crisp....so clean
Amazing Music, Outstanding performance, crazy crazy crazy
Crown keeps setting the bar pretty high for themselves year after year (especially after 2012 IMO)
Pretty cool to witness this drum corp. evolving and pushing forward the sport.
Every time I listen to this I get chill bumps. I've never in my life heard a hornline that talented. Hands down. Thumbs up
This still remains my favorite video on the inter web
I keep rewatching 2:58. God, those licks are incredible.
Don't yell at me but I think even though this may not have been the cleanest show, it was ,,for me, by far the most entertaining
The only thing I'm thinking while I listen to this is: "YASSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS"
Wow ... Talented people with instrument and dance, this is show, congratulations!!!
chills dude
I could listen to 2:05-2:27 all day long! It's so good!!!!!
Needs more cow bell
This is convincing me to do another season of drum corps.
Damn this sounds too good! I wanna join!
A guy that went to my school was in this horn line, kids a beast.
So trippy!
3:00 YESSS TRUMPETS YES!!!!
The fact that that line is only played by first trumpet and 1st baritone makes it even better
2:12 this tickled my brain in just the right spot.
2:10 and on is my favorite part.
Best hornline ever that didn't win the Ott
素晴らしい!
I'm so glad I marched when I did 'cause I don't think I'd make it through an opening weekend camp before getting cut in DCI today.
At this point, I’ve watched this video a bajillion times, but I can’t help smile when Harloff cuts off the hornline and looks out at the crowd at 2:28. His face is basically saying “yeah that’s right, my hornline RULES.”
0:29 I have never heard 20 trumpets sound so much like 1 trumpet. Absolutely perfect intonation
Watch at 1.25 - 1.5, or even at 2x XD
+Angel Ramirez bruhhhh
This is wild
Jaw dropping.
2:18 SOOOOOOO CLLLLLLEEEEEEAAANNNNN
Nice
My God, that’s insane!
They really were the hornline to beat that year.
DUDE!!!!
man i wish i could play runs that fast and tongue at that speed
3:00 those trumpets tho
How did they not win horn :(
Calvin Lin Dude, get out of here with that
How does it sound so good 😭
God damn that release at 2:26....
