Michael Bay’s first Transformers movie was a huge success and moneymaker and shot both Shia Labeouf and Megan Fox to superstardom. Naturally a sequel was rushed into production-- which led to it being pretty terribly-received by fans and critics alike. So there was a lot of pressure to make the third movie in the franchise better. Um… Anyway...
Transformers: Dark of the Moon definitely raises some questions. Like why did everyone forget about Sam Witwicky’s fame? Why were the Decepticons shooting at Sentinel if he was working with them? How does Sam keep landing these incredible girlfriends? Why didn’t the bad guys kill Sam when they had the chance? Why is Chicago being destroyed? Why did the Autobots allow thousands of people to be killed just to prove a point? Is Optimus Prime a psychopath?

Why? Because it's a huge plot hole of the super basic kind. Forget "Why didn't the alien technology do this or that"... basic human logic is abandoned to get to the movie's action scenes and sexy requirements with the least amount of effort.
Because he had to seem like he was muscling in on his relationship with her. She had to be a prize, you know.

I mean, I forgot about the plot of the first and didn't even know this many sequels existed. So I guess forgetting the protagonist is super easy, barely an inconvenience.

I was always thrown off by that scene. I know Megatron’s a villain, but he just saved Optimus.

The five minutes around this scene is literally the only decent part of this entire movie. Pretty much the only decent part of all the movies is the 5 minutes where Optimus decides to stop holding back and cuts the bad guys to shreds.

"Nah, that would take a rewrite. We're just going to give her a car related job, because that would have been the next step for Mikaela's career path had she still been part of the movie."
I'm going to be honest here. I didn't even make that connection. I tend to turn my brain off when I watch Transformers.
Edit: Not just Transformers, but any Michael Bay movie now that I think about it.

Actually, I'd say if he is famous for saving the world multiple times, having a girlfriend supermodel is not completely farfetched. But then not finding work becomes very farfetched.

Also I don't know if you know this but the novelty of celebrity wears off very quickly once time passes so even if he got famous and got ad deals, they won't last forever. They will come until someone else does something else newsworthy and takes over. That is how the world works these days and I'm sure you know this.

@@jonathand.4088, that's because they deviated from their established course of being the film version of cheetos and decided to not have anything fun or exciting or even visually interesting happen for about three hours, and then the brief fight scene that does happen doesn't really have a lot of appeal because the slight conflict it introduces is resolved instantly.

Yeah but they want the surprise plot twist. So shoehorn in a handbrake turn. Screw making logical character sense it's shocking!
The answer to that is always: "Whatever makes the most money."
They're not making movies for YOU. They're making movies to bring in the average, nose picking, booger flicking, mouth breathing high school dropout to watch while slamming fistfuls of popcorn against their faces. It's fine that >55% of the kernels wind up on the floor as long as they pay for the ticket.

There's a lot of episodes with Producer Guy being logical. There are even ones with him questioning morality of what they are doing (most recent being Pitching Meeting for Old).
Nah, he used to ask a lot more pointed questions in 2017-2018, and without the cartoon voice. All this money has made him a pushover. He didn't even have to get all the way off that thing in this one

A little-known fact about the Transformers movies: Shia LeBeouf wasn't actually acting in the movies. He thought they were filming a documentary so that's just him being his normal self.

The magic of transformers has disappeared as I've grown older. Not that they were the best things, but the concept was amazing when it came.
There are actually some really good transformers idw comics. Haven’t read them but everyone who has says good things
transformers is still pretty cool if you turn off your brain and just look at the pretty visuals
Drone technology and cyberwarfare just make the idea of giant robots seem really outdated, although Hathaway's Flash was pretty sweet.

Surprise there's no mention about how Sentinel constantly talks about how everything he does is to protect the Autobots yet he actively takes part in murdering them.
Or how Sentinel claims that Megatron is too powerful to beat but then actually beats Megatron extremely easily taking command of the Decepticons for himself until Carly gives Megatron a pep talk.

Well sentinel only meant Megatron once on cypertron where Megatron was in his old body from the first movie. So for the second time he meant Megatron he is on his weakest state, but work side with him since he want his home to restore. And will prob kill him after.
How about Carly's boss reactivating main pilar saying He wants to live to old age after witnessing genocide on the streets.

Sam having a string of supermodel girlfriends is the most unbelievable part of these movies about 30 foot tall sentient transforming robots from outer space.
I think it's the most and only logical part of the movies. He did save the he world quite a few times.

I remember I rented this movie on a streaming service but got called into work like 10 minutes in. I didn't have a chance to finish it until the next day when there was only an hour left in the rental, so I just fast forwarded through the Shia LeBeouf scenes, and it was actually pretty enjoyable

The level of exaggeration and energy in these movies is what makes them one of a kind, I’m guilty of liking of all Michael Bay’s action scenes, I enjoyed all of them even paid a bit extra for that imax experience and is been unique every single time, I wish to see more of them
