Ever since the first Transformers movie became a worldwide phenomenon over fifteen years ago, Paramount has been churning out movies in the franchise every few years. The latest entry into the giant-robots-punching-each other film series is here, starring Anthony Ramos as the latest human-person-down-on-their-luck-who-discovers-a-Transformer.
Transformers: Rise of the Beasts definitely raises some questions. Like why are we barely seeing the beasts when the movie title promises that they’ll be rising? Does continuity matter at all, or are we just done with that? What kind of Macguffin is everyone after this time?
To answer all these questions, check out the pitch meeting that led to Rise of the Beasts!

I love the strict accuracy of "most humans live on planets".
I would love a Pitch Meeting relating to the ones that don't.
Make sense. There are some people currently living in space. In a space station
He is thinking of the Adstronaut. Ryan takes the Ryanverse seriously!
r/technicallythetruth
@soul6733 Living on a space station is tight
I like how Ryan still posts spoiler warnings, as if we're actually going to watch the movies instead of just watching the Pitch Meeting.
I don't get why Ryan posts spoiler warnings as if ANY Pitch Meeting would contain no spoilers!🤷♂I mean...it's a sum up of the plot of the movie,YOU KNOW there will be spoilers!
Exactly, why waste 2+ hours when I can get the whole plot in a more entertaining manner and still feel like I've missed nothing all in about 5 or 6 mins
I actually watch the movies before the pitch meeting to get better context of what hes making fun of.

My favorite running joke in the transformers pitch meetings is “I don’t know and there’s absolutely no way for me to find out.”
In fairness, bumblebee was the first of a new continuity. These 2 are not part of the Michael Bay series.
I have no idea how you were able to determine that the joke is running, but I'll take your word for it!
Absolutely love how aggressively he says "FRACTIONS"

It's like that time Drake got replaced by an AI and no one noticed because he's been making the same music for 10 years.

The bit about Mirage being a "robot in disguise", Producer Guy doing the math, and the mention of Noah becoming Iron Man (which somehow never occurred to me) were all gold. I especially loved the bit where he wiped the sweat from his brow while calculating 1 + 1 🤣
All that said, personally, I think this movie was surprisingly awesome. That GI Joe crossover really seems to have come outta left field though. I never would've seen that coming in a million years
I think the suit is a nod to the Cartoon.
It is totally Iron Man though here.
The page dropping and the FRACTIONS bit had me in stitches. Every pitch meeting just gets better than the last one somehow.
I feel like there's some important sociology research that could be done by trying to figure out why this formula works so well for Ryan.
@@IainMcClatchie there was a guy who analyzed tasting history's formula and it was an amazing watch

The delivery of “well great.” Was beautiful.
It was worth a thousand words. Tearful words.
@JasonHaines1974 where else has it appeared lol
The head wiping bit must have been just the MOST work Producer Guy has ever produced his entire career. AMAZING.
One of my favorite plot holes was how big a threat it was for them to destroy the gate without the code. Making them have to go through with the tunnel plan in the first place and then they end up doing it anyways and there was no repercussions
"IT WILL EXPLODE WITH THE FORCE OF A SUPERNOVA!!!" Then it's like a minor volcanic eruption localized just at the volcano lmao.
Funniest thing ive seen in a pitch meeting in a while is the part at 4:30 where Ryan looks so defeated about the convenience of the human sized tunnel with a human sized keyboard...... long pause from Ryan: "well great.." hahahaha comedy fucking gold
“defeated” really is the word.
for one moment, he is us.
That was golden. For me, that is one of the best moments of all his pitch meetings.
So ... this isn't THE Unicron movie yet?
@Tera_GX
Unicorn* it’s an easy mistake to make. Strange they would add unicorns though. I wonder if they’re also mechanical life forms. Do they talk… talking mechanical unicorns.. can you even imagine 😄
I died at that point 😂
The subtle reference to the Writer's Strike was brilliant and terrifying when you think of how many producers think that way about AI.
and how the movie is, like all transformers movies, about AI taking over
They've been producing mainstream machine-made content for a passive global audience for decades. AI just makes the same process that much more efficient.
At some point, there's going to be a comedic moment where some writer references 'The Obsolete Man' to the producer and they'll blink in confusion at them.
To be fair, Transformers movies would probably be better if they were written by an AI. At least then some form of intelligence would go into it.
Movies like these don't really need much complex scripts, AI would probably be as good tbh😂
I love how they gloss over "We are really hoping this ai thing works out". Absolute mint.
Each pitch meeting is unique, and comedy gold. At this point, he could do ANY movie, and it would be amazing! Thanks to all the Ryan's in the Ryanverse!

When it comes to modern blockbuster franchises I imagine the real pitch meetings happen exactly like these. Its the only logical explanation to the onslaught of bad decisions we pay to bear witness to.
The "unicorn" confusion, and when even the Wrtiter Guy stopped in the middle of his sentence realizing "...that makes no sense", was such a surreal bit. 😄

I mean the director himself has confirmed it's a reboot and the plot itself proves it's a reboot. The only one not saying it's a reboot is the producer who's known for being a pain and still clings to the hope it's a prequel. He went so far as to not bring Bumblee's director for rotb to not make it a reboot which is SUCH a shame simce this movie could be even better with his involvement. I mean steven did a good job but there's a lot of big problems in the movie especially with Optimus.

This also seems to be what this continuity will be going for in the next films. Allegedly. Which, I mean okay, that was hardly ever the most interesting theme this franchise handled, but I get why they'd want to play it safe after the Bayverse and the idea of enemy factions uniting to fight a common foe could be cool
It was such a brief moment but unmissable

I’ve watched almost every single pitch meeting. This one was the funniest with Ryan being more quirky than usual. Well done sir!
0:36 that’s exactly what Age of Extinction did with its title. Little bit of dinosaurs at the beginning, little bit of dinosaurs at the end.
I love how Ryan keeps mixing things ups. He manages to find something unique each time it feels like. The bit with him doing fractions was my favorite.

3:31 Omg thats accurate
Remember back when pitch meetings were about him pointing out plot holes that could potentially have happened in a producer's meeting? I mean, those were fun, but I'm all about how these have just slowly become more and more unhinged. I love it!!
Yeah me too, Producer guy seems to have become so much more disillusioned x)
It helps that these poorly written scripts don’t need much pointing out. His job has gotten a little easier while he’s honed his craft at timing and… math.
@@se7enofnein Honestly, I don't think this Pitch Meeting hit the mark for this film
The script should... just not really have been what it wound up being. Like, in terms of actual issues that aren't just "being average as hell", I get wanting the big bad to be introduced early, but in the case of Unicron, the threat is just too big to be feasible for the audience. Like, of course Unicron won't come out of the sky beam portal and eat the Earth. And why commit to Mirage or Bumblebee's death in the first entry of a trilogy? They're the marketable ones (although Mirage only has an expensive Deluxe toy apparently? Habsro is such a weird fuckin' company).
GlorousKronk: Huh? You don't have to have ridiculous fake-out deaths that make no sense just because you don't want to kill your lead merchandising opportunity. Just -- have your film make a lick if sense. Don't kill him, then -- and same with any other defense of the lack logic. If, because money, you can't do X, then don't attempt X -- do something else, that makes even the vaguest sense to someone who is trying to follow along with the story
@@se7enofnein And math! 🤣
He really got me with that one important piece of dialogue bit 😂😂😂😂
Optimus Prime was actually meant to turn towards the camera and say "this film is part of the rebooted continuity started with the movie Bumblebee (2018). Buy my toys." but it was cut with the scene of him ramming Scourge through a wall and killing a Decepticon who turns into a bus and played a recording of Autobots pleading for their lives before being executed and then dumping his body in a river like a serial killer to hide from the humans where it floats down before coming to rest on other Decepticon corpses. That was the original opening for this movie.
I mean to be fair it was ALLLLLL the way down there by his feet. He could have pulled a back muscle bending over to pick it up! How can you be so heartless to Producer Guy and Writer Guy?! lol
This is my first pitch meeting and I love it!
Dear future ryan reacting to this pitch meeting, the bit with producer guy figuring out what 2/2 is perfect and didnt go on too long ❤️
Something about the "Energon! hey-up! Energon!" at 5:11 just make me bust out laughing. And that's the whole explanation and they just move on. Fantastic. 🤣

Yep! Very accurate!
I was watching this in the movie theater, and the lady started talking about how the owl held a foreign text that was unknown, and I got really invested because it sounded like it could change the history books, then I remembered it was a transformers movie.
Ryan calculating and sweating was definitely my fav part! LOL
Reminded me of my son learning fractions.
and the emphatic “TWO OUT OF TWO PARTS!!!”
I've seen every pitch meeting and this one is immediately among my favorites. Really creative jokes about the continuity issues, looming AI, the reaction to the contrived "human-sized tunnel"... It's the millionth pitch meeting and the millionth Transformers movie but Ryan's still keeping it so fresh and funny. I hope movies stay just bad enough forever so this channel never stops 😅
I really hope they introduce a chatgpt guy, just so producer guy can realize his mistake
I don't get why people think the tunnel is contrived. It's a tower that funnels lava for energy, of course it has ventilation. Plus, there's no such thing as "human sized" in a universe where transformers can be any size. It's not like only humans can fit in there. Arcee could fit if she crawled.
Agreed, this is one of my favourites!

That calculator bit with the tactile tapping sounds was fantastic. Also "most humans live on planets" and that "energon!" shout.

Ba da da da da......da DA!
Right into the top-5 for pitching meetings.
Fractions, losing the page, the look after the explanation of "man sized tunnel with a laptop code", writer guy realizing it's an MCU ending....brilliant.
1:00 I mean... I think I watched the Bumblebee movie but I really cannot remember it well (which is weird if you know me)... but overall I think they decided to completely reboot and retcon the franchise with that one. Most annoyingly they try to shove this Optimus Prime character arc in that should explain how he developed the sympathy for the humans that we know from the other movies... but they also give zero effs about every other bit of continuity
also, if you think about it, if they had taken seconds to give Airazor (the bird, for all who did not take time to remember names; Michelle Yeoh's character) a burial or at least place her next to some more energon ore she would be revived, too; why do they even care about killing off any of the bots?
also also: the movie hand waived time travel
also also also, but only for German speakers: somebody decided to have Arcee Rider (The bike; Liza Koshy'scharacter; I guess she has at least some experience in acting and dubbing) being dubbed by a racing-car driver who only ever appeared in documentaries and hosting... outside of her sport; and I am not sure if she even came into a studio to do so; she sounds like she did all of her lines as ADRs and without any directions whatsoever; I mean, it is clearly not her fault and she might have done a good job if anybody told her how; and since I didn't have time yet to watch the movie also in OV I am not sure if the dubbing book also does her character injustice or if Arcee has the most stupid lines in that version also
