I love this song, sounds like the California Beach Scene from the 1960's!! Smash Mouth is a really good band, I dig them. Great live performance at the Hard Rock too. They need to write up more songs like this one, and then they will rocket to fame once again! - Von Lars from Arizona - A Smash Mouth State Of Mind......
Pretty cool, a classic from the 90's, this would be their first hit, and they'll prove not be a one hit wonder... but then they disappeared just like they came.. they rocked the music scene along with Sugar Ray and Fastball... maybe a comeback someday...
He meant a comeback to the top I guess like the old days...As a big fan as I am, they are still kicking ass. They're great musicians with loads of creativity.
i know im extremely late to comment but your right, ive been a long time smash mouth fan and they actually just put out a new album, i also recently just saw sugar ray in concert a few months ago, always be on the look for a comeback....
roberlevi you should know they're back again...you seem to live in the middle of the jungle to not notice it! ...they were even playing with Sugar Ray around u.s.a recently! ...They're recording a new album I hope it kicks asses once again just like their old stuff! ...HEY SMASH MOUTH YOU BETTER PLAY BACK IN VENEZUELA!
Listen to lyrics talk about how we are to busy keepin in fashion and smoking dope and lost NWO fight..no joke..main chorus has BIG warning in it..very deep song most never get meaning...what a shame!!!
I used to think how much of a drab his voice is but then as I got more musically inclined, I realised that it's his style and although at first he sounds like he can't sing for shit, he can actually hit notes and pitches perfectly, which isn't easy to do!
He’s a great singer. What, because he can’t scream at some high tenor range? It’s just as valid as a skill and quality to sing baritone and distortion .
That is the nature of the song, speaking with a specific rhythm, but you are way off with the "in tune" thing, he sounds pretty much like the record and this is an amazing song, as already mentioned almost 99% of the time he is on key. Not a lot of fit guys can come up with lyrics like this, plus nobody but you cares about who is fat, because most of us are thinking about being creative instead of looking our bodies in the mirror.
Well, a) the guitarist wrote the lyrics, b) the lyrics are really kind of vapid and trite c) quality of lyrics shouldn't be a substitute for lame out of tune singing.
this really make me think of early 2000's alternative. makes me feel young again.

I am more of a the 70s and 80s songs but I LOVE THIS SONG!!!!!!!!!!!!
'cause it's a throw-back 1960s hippie song! Yep, great song.
Can't wait to see them in October at the Epcot Food and Wine Festival. Hopefully they will sing this song.
Good news! They are back with a new album entitled "Magic", which drops on september 4th, 2012!!!!

When did James Gandolfini become a singer?
Smash Mouth played in Venezuela in 2005 so i wonder if Venezuela is the only Hispanic country that they've toured to date????
@roberlevi I could live on those three bands (Fastball, Smash Mouth, Sugar Ray) forever.
derrrr

How does a San Jose guy get a British accent!?
I don't have to reform, if you can't sing.

I do better everyday. He shouts instead of singing....so he's permanently off key. His performance is like your spelling....shite.
