    Funnily enough, someone else has posted a lesson on Nico 'these days' - Adrian on 'anyone can play guitar UK', the only other teacher I support on Patreon...and his lesson this week was on essential rhythm strumming patterns, so between Eric & Adrian, there's all the guidance I need. Great stuff!

    Wild! I've been on a journey this month - it began with Here There and Everywhere --> playing the vocal harmony parts and noticing that Bb, and a brief detour into pretty songs which had me working on Que Vida and thinking about L.A., and then my subconscious pulled up The Warmth of the Sun --> playing with that got me arpeggios and thinking about the Wrecking Crew which led me to Glen Campbell --> so I decided to finally pick up a collection; I check out a recent tidy Greatest Hits and lo and behold! Track 16: "These Days"! So then I come here two days later, and here you're opening with it! Synchronicity!
    Thanks for showing how you build up Rhiannon the right way. I am really intimidated by Lindsey Buckingham - the music can bounce along so lightly but when you peek under the hood it is terrifyingly well-built!

    The methodical approach to on and off beats with thumb and fingers is the only way until your fingers go there before your brain tells them to. Takes a long time but is worth it. Luckily I had a teacher who made me master it. Did recording today on banjitar and octave mandolin, these old fingers still remember... Thanks for pointing this out.

    I've been hoping for this lesson for a while. I'm one of those people who won't even play a guitar if I don't have a pick. It's embarrassing. Little by little, Eric Haugen, you'll fill in all of my blind spots until I finally rise up to fulfill my destiny as a Competent Guitar Player. Then comes world domination (after a quick vengeance campaign upon those who have wronged me). Wicked awesome dude, indeed! Now once again, slowly... the index finger goes here and the middle finger goes here....

  • @macsarcule
    @macsarcule Před 3 měsíci

    That third one is sooo hard, but but would be such payoff to play Rhiannon! The first two have become muscle memory over the years, so that third one will be an extra challenge.
    I’ve always had trouble playing finger-style on electric. The slightly tighter string spacing and looser string feel have always be hard for me.
    Thank you, Eric! ✌️😌🎸

    i was waiting for this it is perfect matching where i am now with fingerpick . i can finnaly play Dust in the wind full speed and more easy fingerpick songs.. I do this now for 2 months play only with fingers and thumb and i even dont think about the plectrum anymore .. However if i play punk or rock or metal i maybe better get my plectrum 🙂 Thanks again Eric Oh what are you doing at 9:42 was what i was doing too and my friend said i got to hold my thumb straight so the fingers are planted on the strings .. It feels little bit akward in the begin but if you are used too the straight thumb you never need a thumb pick anymore.. For example if you play with the thumb pick then you have also your thumb straight ..
