      David Lee is a great man, loves & enjoy his cars so much that is willing to share his passion and knowledge to other people too.. i have follow footages on internet even on the Jay Leno Garage tv-show presented by Jay Leno himself (another great personality, car collector, enthusiast) both are blessed with vast knowledge into old cars to share with us by comparison Ralph Lauren (cloth designer) has also a super-great collection of cars but is hard to see him drive them or talking to other people or share stories or something about his epic hidden cars.. what a pity !

      Also the music in the background while hea driving...the little snare tss tss over the sound of this masterpiece detract from it in my humble opinion.

    David has the heart to hear and feel the Ferrari soul... sound, speed, pitch and vibration. A car that stands for a time when there was an involvement with life. Wind, earth and fire on four wheels. Thank you David for this insight into a true gem.

  • @Far2hip
    @Far2hip Před 3 lety +1

    The really nice aspect of the soft leather fingerless gloves for driving is not only the increased dexterity from the open fingers and the added adhesion to the wheel with a light grip, but the fact that the soft leather with the treated surface reduces the friction imposed on the steering wheel finish as opposed to using your bare hands. Wearing down the finish is not only an aesthetics issue, but it also compromises grip consistency which to me is an intrusion on the vintage driving experience. It may seem petty to some, but if you have ever spent time behind the wheel of one of these beautiful hand made vintage cars and have taken in all the finite detail in the experience of driving such a raw feeling hand made Italian sports car specifically, those folks that have know EXACTLY what I am saying here. The amount of nuance in the car feedback is extraordinary and very satisfying to contemplate while driving. Basically, they are VERY cool to drive.
    The greatest allure of owning a vintage sports car like the 250 GT Lusso is the fact that you can spend longer periods of time in the driver seat and really get to engage the experience in a more intimate way if you are a true car guy that appreciates the driving experience more than simply the investment aspects of the car. These vintage Ferraris provide such a viscerally engaging driving experience that is loaded with nuance like no other vintage sports car. The most finite inputs the car passes along to you while driving tell such an intimate story of the cars character. From one example to the next of the identical model is a unique experience that becomes a bit intoxicating and addictive to someone that enjoys getting intimately familiar with their vintage Ferrari. It’s a very unique sort of satisfaction. It’s actually hard to explain unless one has actually had to start the car from cold, sat behind the wheel driving, and have spent a decent amount of time from one day to the next repeating this regimen a number of times with the car. Oddly enough, even the frustrating moments are uniquely satisfying!!
    Sorta went off the specific content rails there, but you vintage Ferrari aficionados out there know pretty well that when talking or speaking about the experience with these gems, going off the story rails just goes with the territory, lol. It just,....happens. 👍🏻😎👍🏻

    I have been following you on Instagram for a while. I liked your recent interview with Magnus Walker. It was interesting to hear how it all started and in particular what sparked your interest in classic Ferrari's. The initiative to share your passion with us on CZcams and to let us be part of the sensation and sounds of your cars is so cool. I certainly stay tuned. Many thanks, David! PS The Lusso is probably my favourite and the one I would take for a drive :)

    I've always loved Ferraris. The early 1960s 250 Lusso will always be my favorite. In addition to your needing to be physically and mentally at one with it, driving this car is truly a musical experience. As you patiently start it up and move through the gears, you literally play it like the fine and rare precious instrument it is. You rely on your ear in so many ways to savor it intelligently, beautifully and fully. The overtones and subharmonics of its richly sonorous V12 are pure magic. You drive this magnificent creation in a way that clearly shows you fully appreciate and love it- Absolutely wonderful! Thanks so much for sharing this.

    Wonderful to see this truly beautiful car, something I'm grateful to you and the internet for allowing me to experience. I was amazed how hard it was to start. I've never owned a Ferrari or a V12 which I believe Ferrari treats a little like 2 6s in terms of spark etc, (I could easily be wrong in which case please excuse my ignorance) but I've owned many old cars and was surprised there was no choke involved to deal with cold starts and that the fuel pump (or is it 2 pumps) couldn't build up pressure and hold it, needing run constantly. I noticed "Harry's Garage" Espada fuel pump does the same constant noise so maybe it's V12 Italians? Couldn't help noticing the Espada V12 @ Tyrrell's Classic Workshop (great CZcams channel) started straight up 1st go ;). Just kidding, thanks 4 sharing your beautiful Ferrari though, it was a joy to see.

I heard your fuel pump building pressure when the diagram noise slowed and then it picked back up as the system lost pressure. Could you have a carb float issue and In fact some cylinders are flooding....hence the long starter crank needed???

    I just started watching your videos. This was my first one. I liked seeing your cars on Jay Lenos videos. Thank you for sharing your collection! I am an old Alfa guy. I could never afford a Ferrari! The old Alfas and Lancias are like baby Ferraris. What can I say, they're Italian! Their cars are like the poem " There was a little girl, who had a little curl".
    I noticed that you didn't pull the choke for the carburetors. I'm sure the old Webers didn't have automatic chokes. This will save your starter from over heating and throwing the solder. An old Marelli starter for that car is probably worth as much as my Alfa!
    Thanks again!
