Real talk? It looks like a ganglion cyst. Compare it to some online pictures, it seems like they usually show up in characteristic places. They're fairly benign, but sometimes pressure builds up and causes pain on the joint. I wouldn't worry too much unless it was painful or got substantially bigger. They sometimes go away on their own, but you can get them drained. If you try to drain it at home, be very careful. Feet are dirty and infections are bad m'kay?
Also I'm not a doctor so if you die of foot cancer don't look at me.

All joking aside, as a nurse I would say you have a bunion. You need to get special shoes or shoe inserts to slow it down, but unfortunately you have to have surgery to correct this. Go see a doctor. It's going to get worse with age.
it seems more like a lipoma to me. painless and can be moved around. plus he tends to wear flip flops which aren't a risk factor for bunions.

Not a medical doctor but scientist here: the lump might be a soft tissue tumor like a lipoma. Which are painless but 'lumpy' as you described. You should not worry but of course see a doctor. also keep an eye out for pain or redness or irritation and monitor the size.

As someone who has had cysts before... it just looks and sounds like a cyst. A harmless cyst. They can get numb, so that's pretty encouraging. It'll drain on its own, or if it builds up too much and starts to hurt you can see a doctor about getting it removed. I had one next to my ear that lasted maybe two or three weeks before it went away, so it's not really something to worry about.
