This is definitely not a waste of time 😁😁😁
Definitely the most comprehensive guide to waste management. Whatever questions I had for it; were all answered in one video. Bravo.
i came here thinking "Ok , i'm going to learn this and i will be totally smart."
I left this video so confused i wanna curl up in a ball and cry !! LMAO
LOL isn't that how everything is with this game? thousands of hours in we still learn and are like OOOOOH that's how that works!
@@CaffeineEncrypted Don't get me wrong , i gained a ton of knowledge here. only i am not really sure it sunk in. lol hahahahaha
Very nice work. Well formatted, informative, well reasoned and demonstrated. Thank you for helping your comrades build better republics!
The best explanation of the waste system I've seen so far.
Concise and up to the point without any useless waffling like many other youtubers do.
Thank you very much. You earned this subscription. ;-)
Thank you very much!
Its hard to find videos about this game that aren't 1 hour+
Great video. I would like to add one point. You are correct that we would need only 1 garbage truck to collect the waste from our citizens. However, be aware of tourists. I run a city with 300 tourists and they produce ungodly amounts of biowaste. It seems like their only purpose when they come to my republic is to shit all over the place... twice a day. I have 2 big stands with small containers dedicated only for biowaste and I need 6 10t garbage trucks to keep up. I will use big garbage container stands from now on to deal with tourists.
Very good point! And damn those tourists littering our glorious Republic!
Lol, bio waste is also composed of food scraps/rotten food. I think the poo goes down the piping in this game.
I think your tourists half eat their meals then it gets dumped because that is what people do with free meals.
This game is like going back to school😅
I hated school
I love this game
The best guide to waste management👌. You definitely deserve more subscribers. Keep up the work. Thank you 🙏
your idea with the truck cargo station - genius! i've testet it to in a different way and it dont work. now i know how to midmax the transport - great thanks for that amigo^^
Thank you for taking the time to put this together. The devs should link the game's help to your videos.
.... Well here's the voice I hear in my headset!!! Weeeee. 🎉
I have been looking for a clear, comprehensive, thorough guide to waste management. You sir delivered! Thank you. For sure a sub and like.
Really nice video!
Thank you! :)
I COULD sort all the mixed waste accumulating for recycling and treat the hazardous waste like a responsible republic... OR I could just dump it all in the ocean with it never again being a problem, thanks to the "Dump it in the ocean" mod :D
But nice video, thanks for it!
Great guide! Something I'm trying to get a feel for is how big of a town/city merits a full recycling complex like this? Or one for the whole map and haul it from other parts of the map on trains?
Thanks! And that would depend a lot of the efficiency of your waste separation. If it's all optimized you can probably support the waste of 50k people relatively easy as long you can transfer it! If not maybe 10kish
Wow, concise and helpful. Thanks.
I know everything now thanks, I wondered before why the incinerator was exporting mixed waste ( I tried to burn it again) but now I know that it's just ash that will disappear by itself, and other waste management mechanics
Very good guide. Thx you
That was really good
Good job!
thank you!
Still watching the video, but so far is the best explanation I got about waste
very well done
Now I don't understand 1 point. How does Biological waste turn into Fertilizer?
Overtime it slowly converts part of itself into Fertilizer or by using a compost plant
@@CaffeineEncrypted Does it turn into fertilizer by sitting in large container? Cause your video says otherwise.
@@EG-0611 Transfer containers do not let it turn into fertilizer, open waste storages like dumps do let it turn into fertilizer
@@CaffeineEncrypted Alright thank you for the information. :)
Only one things with efficient setup for recycling is that you need a way to export unprocessed waste from factory, otherwise it will clog up and stop working.
i always thought that general separation should be the first building to distribute differents kinds of trash for each other, so the others specialized buildings could work better the "almost clean" materials.
I'm not 100% sure but I think you can get aluminium scrap from sorting the mixed wasted after decontaminating hazardous waste
could be the case when you have a medical helicopter! i haven't tested that yet !
Best guide on waste i´ve seen. What about the biological waste? do you incinerate it too?
Thanks! Converting it would produce more ash so no, I turn it to fertilizer and use it on fields :)
Just let bio waste sit in open storage, it will rot and turn into fertilizer (I thought that was mentioned in this video). Also there is a small plant you can use to turn it quickly with use of chemicals. (was not covered here)
Aluminum waste can be produced by repair station when they repair helicopters(and planes I guess)
That makes sense! :D
Best choice is smallest normal garabage truck because they cant load to full always load less than 1 ton of trash and skoda truck is slow best way is gz-53 garabage becouse less price, more speed and less power (better fuel economy)
Hey
Great video, awesome explanations.
One question though. Scrap recycling bottlenecks the whole build. Alluminum separation works at 20t/day, meaning it won't let through more that that. And General separation works with 50t/day, so we effectevly cut our throughput by more than a half. Have you overcome it at some point? Just double the scrap sepration part and deliver manualy by trucks?
Thanks for your comment!
The idea is to decrease the amount of ash produced and pre sort waste before it even gets there.
considering all the rest of the separation buildings have a slower throughput but produce less ash I find it significantly more effective to run through the specialised separators than the general. Plus while the processing might appear less the mixed waste shrinks as it flows through so when it starts as 10 tonnes when it reaches the aluminium separation it's usually down to 2.
Combine this with separation of the waste around the republic and delivering things directly to their corresponding processing plants like metal scraps directly to the steel conversion building minimises the mixed waste impurities.
Hope that sheds some light on the design :)
@@CaffeineEncrypted
I was thinking more about making some additional money with importing hazardous and mixed waste, so this won't work for my case I guess.
Although thanks for the answer.😊
By the way, every customs house has it's own random composition of waste. Some times you can get away with 20% metal and 10% alluminum scrap in it. Unfortunately no other way you can get a sample other than send a truck to purchase some.
And to deal with ash I usually build 3 or 4 large dumps (decay rate is better than with free dumps) and set distribution office. It will keep them equally loaded to make sure all of them "processing" the ash.
@@user-rm4tc7uo5f yea importing hazardous is really not worth it. Especially since it can contain fertilizer which has the worst burn out of everything at 30%!
@@CaffeineEncrypted
Of course it really depends on the composition. If there's enough metal or even alluminum in it you'll save some on importing, or even sell it. Not to metion you get paid for importing the haz waste.
13:35 Waste & Recycling full layout.
Thx for this tutorial. Very helpful. Game offers a dump with a claw and rail connection. Can you transport waste via rail ?
Yes you can, it's very slow to load but it's doable. There are certain wagons that allow waste to be moved loaded, but unloading it can be tricky as some waste is an Open storage type of resource and needs a factory connection, while scraps etc are aggregates and need an aggregate station
@@CaffeineEncrypted Open storage waste (metal scrap) is treated as gravel etc. So loading/unloading will be as usual. I guess waste in containers will be different thing.
Very nice!
It looks way too complicated and time/space consuming to setup in a small startup nation but i guess later on i'll have to deal with this :/
When's your next stream!!😃
Soon :P
I forgot to ask.
11:34 35% will be converted into "other".
What is other and where does it go?
Please keep up the good work. Waching other videos! :)
Other is a type of waste that burns at very high efficiency. Think of it as a way to remove impurities so things can be eliminated more efficiently and not get covered in ash!
@@CaffeineEncrypted but where does that waste go?
I know when you separate metal scrap from mixed waste 87% of the metal is turned into metal scrap but where does the other 13% go? Back into Mixed Waste?
@@oolykeegaming81 yep!
Hello. I have a game already in progress and I would like to know if it is viable to activate this update?
If I enable waste management, all my cities will start producing waste immediately, and I will have no structure or vehicles to deal with the waste, correct?
Can you give me some tips on how to proceed? Or is it better not to activate the update?
Thanks.
Hello and thanks for your comment! It is possible to activate it and manage with an existing republic but it will certainly be tricky. Here are some tips, industries create a LOT of waste so id stop those and start fixing the one by one. I'd focus on the residential areas first and utilise a lot of technical offices to assist while your get things organised. But I would certainly recommend playing a test game with the information gained from this video and familiarise yourself with the buildings and their placement so you can have a better idea of where to utilise them in your republic!
Thanks for the help! @@CaffeineEncrypted
The usual trick since the Water-Update is:
- Pause and save your game.
- Activate the update and and make all the buildings required for the update available in your quick selection bar. You can set up multiple pages there with ALT.
- Deactivate the update.
- Play and build the new buildings as needed.
- When finished - save your game and reactivate the update.
Have fun. :)
@@frankiberlin thanks, i'll try it.
Great video. Although, I'm still about to rage quit this game. Just started a few days ago. I just spent two hours trying to clear up construction waste from roads I demolished. So far, no combination of anything works, and literally no guide I have found describes construction waste cleanup except in passing. Everyone only talks about building waste pickup and processing.
When you are referring to waste clean up you mean what's needed to demolish something and then move the waste away from site? If that's the case the deconstruction office used vehicles in this way : bus/ excavator to break things down into waste, waste trucks to pick it up and move it to the designated location/s as long as the area deconstructed is accessible to them. Hope that helps
Wow. Thanks for the quick reply. I came back to delete this after I realized my mistake (seriously like two hours). I am still learning all the crazy interconnections... I forgot to specify source as bus stop for workers and mainly, the dump. I didn't think of that because source being where you SEND something is a bit confusing to me. In short, demo office linked to dump.
@@fastfiddler1625 that's workers and resources for you 😜 1000+ hours in will make you pull your hair
It is why I'm here and not playing cities skylines. If I wanted to turn off all those crazy systems, I would just play that. Turns out I was just a couple clicks away. And for anyone else out there, getting stuck is a good time to try looking at the tutorials again. My mistake was uncovered like ten seconds into the waste mgmt one. I burned through all of them on night one in about three hours and apparently forgot half of it. And this step was one of them.
Road Cargo station doesn’t work with waste.
