    Greetings Comrades,
    I have finally emerged from the editing dome after completing our annual tradition of updating the Workers and Resources guide.
    I hope you enjoyed the video, sorry about the length but despite my efforts I felt like I couldn’t condense the guide more without starting to leave out important details.
    Thankfully though this video should stand the test of time better has finally it seems like the devs have finished adding new systems and are just polishing the game up to leave early access, so hopefully this is the last time I need to do this.

    Nice overview. Total agree with so many little things we find out the hard way (large heater, med/large water pipes only, ignore free agg storage, etc). Would argue one of the better 'crash course videos' for the game. Doesn't go in too deep so peeps can learn on own... points out common pitfalls. Etc.
    Arguments:
    ~Focus industries till after city is established. Farm is fine (its self reliant) but make only the clothes or the food/beer zone not both. Get that humming with full staffed then build out next one. Start up cost reasons
    ~Meat. Buy from border. Your yearly cost on meat is a truckload of clothes from your factory in cost. Building out the entire meat production and supply and staffing is 100x more at the least. Not worth till later game
    ~Train option for farm you mentioned. Set it up but dont build. Train costs like a million to get going and as you already stated early game light on cash so don't think you can squeeze it in and if you did not worth... youll take a decade to recoup the cost vs. focusing that coin into cloths/food or some other industry. NOTE I expect it be 6 seasons before the farm set up itself pays itself off as is now without train, for refernece
    Question: Is water from surface worth vs. well? Yeah well needs staff but it gives better quality and staff is easy resource soon as republic going. Ive honestly never tried surface. Also do you add another large line to the pump (between lake and treatment) or does the surface water not produce that much? I believe treatment can handle 2 large pipes worth of volume
    Maybe worths (someone argue against/for these points please):
    ~RL reasons I usually make my backbone main road between boarder and end (like a freeway if you will) and asphalt it. I even cheat it and pay for it to be built. Vehicle travel distance is one of the biggest slowdowns in the game and I only have so many hours a day I can play. Head-cannon wise I excuse it as the Party decided to develop the region and I have been assigned party membership to take over the task after initial exploration.
    ~temporary at least, have angled road from city to border cut down travel time which will build up in no time to be worth
    ~I try to start 'between' two border points. Then can split traffic through it to help alleviate the lines. Not always possible but when it is a game changer
    ~Dont use largest Main Powerline. Rep prob only use like 8 max, ever, so why waste all that steal (if going to sell then deal with that then with own line/upgrade). Ive actually seen some peeps break it into 2 lines (2 an 4 or such) because cheaper steal cost
    ~Why run all that 'dirty' water line... just make another 'brown trout fishin hole' in the industrial area (think cheaper resource wise). Not looked at pipe cost vs new export point so could be wrong. (Also, psssst, I just activate cheat mode and dig the hole it makes it more cleaner and deadly looking since it will have extreme sides. Gotta fear the citizens away least I can do)
    ~When setting percentages in buildings use the ctrl-click can type in percentages. Its a life changer
    ~Would advise set up 'garbage transfer' stations from start. So instead of having all those lil load trucks driving to industrial zone you only have 1 big load doing it. Also lets the lil ones deal with the city garbage better (you was already overloading a few of the buildings in this playthrough)
    ~Hospital/Haz waste has bitten me in butt so many times... I actually have a lil dumper in a shared tech office that ONLY pulls haz waste from city area (hospital) and deals with it quickly. The pollution mechanic of haz waste in bins is just wrong
    ~HeatPlant Bus run, very smert. But I would run 3-4 busses. Maybe more. You going to have 3 shifts and each shift will take a bus load at least. Always have extra. Esp with Heatplant... that thing will deathSpiral your rep if a mouse farts in your neighbors house the wrong way I swear

    I started playing yesterday. And of course, even in the easiest difficulty i couldn't make a shopping work correctly, even with buses taking people from their houses. Game would still say that some of the civilians couldn't get food, which i couldn't understand. Maybe they were sick. But with your ideia of building a precise street block, where everyone can walk by themselves without the need of vehicles, now everything makes sense.
    I watched the whole video and now my mind absorved a little bit more of this game. I did all the tutoriais. And even doing it, it doesn't give you the whole scope of the basic things, as it don't teach you how to put everything togheter and make it work, which is another thing. Even after watching this whole video, which you make everything seem so simple, i know it's not. As playing in realistic mode is much more fun, let's see how many times i'll fail on basic premisses before moving foward.
    I really wanted to live just cutting trees in the beggining. But as you were progressing, i don't that's a good ideia. Thanks for this tutorial, which was very important to me.

    one small thing when building the aggregate storage this way is make sure you turn off fires till you are ready
    seeing a full gravel storage burn down cause you dont have a city to support a fire brigade is really painful (speaking from experience)

  • @IRDazza
    @IRDazza Před měsícem +1

    I always start with water and sewage works as well as power together with initial road layout. This save hassles later on when trying to expand by having basic infrastructure in place.
    I also layout some basic rail though it may not get built for quite some time, just to allow room and remind me in the future.
    I try to play this game as realistic as I can. It's definitely a challenge but far more satisfying when things start working.

    Not sure if the feature was available 4 month ago (at least I see grid is available), but at release they have a grid with "magnet" that allows you to snap roads and buildings to the grid. If you click twice on the first check mark at right bottom menu (where the undeground button is) you'll be able to enter grid mode with snapping.

Started googling not finding anything, finally it sparked that the channel had "Stalin" in the name! Finally found JosephVStalin, clicked the announcement video, hell I remember this, he made a new channel, lets see if he's still active, and by some wild chance it links right back to this channel haha, talk about a blast from the past, remember watching your videos back on that first channel and for a while on this one, I guess I got unsubbed at some point. • @DaComrade

      Hey Comrade,
      Remember the pumps still need to be connected via foot paths. Once connected on a foot path to the road the construction vehicles will drive along it to build the pump. If that isn't the issue your construction offices might be too far away. Else wise I can't think of anything else and might be a glitch.

    Honest question. How do you guys stick playing this game? I follow tutorials, learn how to play, I've started multiple cities, start building then get bored and start another. Rinse and repeat. I've had 500 people once but normally I don't even get to adding population. Its just SO boring after a while. No war or defending, no armies or navies, wheres the game. This feels like a kid in a sandbox game with tonka trucks. Which IS fun for a few minutes. Otherwise, explain how these games are fun?

    • @targard.quantumfrack6854
      @targard.quantumfrack6854 Před 13 hodinami

      Because we enjoy logistics, planning and such. It's quite satisfying once the thing works neatly. Not everyone has an absolute need for war. " This feels like a kid in a sandbox game with tonka trucks." this sounds quite condescending to be honest, as if playing CoD or any wargame for that matter is more mature... And to be really honest, in my opinion war at all is a backward and foolish thing in reality, it's the game of people with too much power and we are it's pawns, not very mature IMO but hey, I enjoy it in game where nobody's hurt.
