Great effort that, mate. I used to weld tankcontainers with MIG and stick and the material was way easier to weld than piss thin car stuff. I did weld my old XR3i floorpan years ago with a stick set. There was more pigeon on it than Nelsons Column lol.
haha i get that lol first time i tried to use arc was on my exhaust, upsidown. on basically a beer can thin metal. not such a waste of time, more a lerning curb lol
Couple of things. I think the owner should have left it with you without rushing you along to get it back. It would have been nice to see some footage of the car back together as a final sign off portion of the video with the work you'd done. The rear axle is most likely in need of repair or replacement as the wheels fouling the body is usually the bearings collapsing in the axle tube, once he's got the axle down, I bet he finds a fair bit more rot going under the fuel tank and across the boot floor corners too. Brave resto, so props to the owner, there must be a solid reason why they wanted to save a 5 door straight diesel. Your welding work looked great despite the car really not being worth saving!
so firstly, thank you, i would love to have had it longer, but i appreciate that everyone neds their car, and i would have love to have concluded it properly. also you are right, i have just finished putting new axle on, at their request. he isnt really the work on his own car type, but yes there is plenty more needed once i looked under the rear, might be welding that too! thanks again, coudnt agree more.
Pretty bloody perfect indeed
thank you buddy
