CSX 'stealth' SD40 cab ride! ~ First Look at Train Sim World 2 - New Journeys Expansion (Pt. 3)

  • To finish up my look at the TSW2 - New Journeys pack, we're on the Sand Patch Grade route for a drive in the EMD SD40. To me this looks like DTG got this livery wrong, as they've just taken the existing Clinchfield SD40 model and painted it in the early CSX 'stealth' grey livery. I can tell this is just the Clinchfield model because it retains the CRR numbers and number font (and DTG didn't bother changing these decals at all; big surprise).
Anyway, in this scenario (called 'Earning Your Stripes'), we'll be using SD40s 3001 and 3023 to collect a freight train in Cumberland yard then haul it up the line to Hyndman, Pennsylvania. Up at Hyndman there are a pair of Chessie System cabooses and several railfans out to watch the SD40s arrive!
~ A quick bit of research tells me that in real life, the ex-Clinchfield SD40s did not retain their CRR numbers when they were inherited by CSX, which makes DTG's new CSX grey livery blatantly inaccurate (and it should be fixed). In real life the former 3001 became CSX SD40-2 No. 8336, but I don't know what happened for the former 3023. ~

The problem getting the train moving was the MU-2A valve. When multiple engines are used has to be set to "Lead or Dead". It took me forever to find that tidbit out, tbh I still don't know what the other settings are for. I am TSW2 noob, never got into TSW, but original TS gave way more instruction on running the locos.

I backed up and coupled onto that row of hoppers, and tried going forward, it wouldn't move, I kept increasing throttle speed to 4 and I continually got engine wheel slip, is there a hopper car back there set on manual brakes or something? I had the engine red handle brakes released, engine independent brakes released, reverser set to forward, throttle set to 1, then 2 then up to 4 and I kept getting engine wheel slip, it wouldn't move forward, what did I do wrong?
