The Bay of Plenty Rail Scene (ft. ETM 567 and DL 9400) ~ May 2024 (HD)
Well this certainly ended up being much longer than expected. Despite only going out of town once throughout May 2024, I still managed to film plenty of trains in Tauranga and Mount Maunganui. Of course, they were all hauled by the ubiquitous 'DL' class diesel locomotives, but DH 2851 and the ballast cleaner ETM 567 also appear in this video, as do some of the Bayhopper buses (I'm a casual bus enthusiast alongside the railway).
For context, DH 2851 is a little shunting locomotive built by General Electric in 1978. Only six examples of the 'DH' class were ever built, and their model designation is 'GE U10B'.

Keighley & Worth Valley Railway review ~ Train Simulator

Similar to the time I looked at the West Somerset Railway in Train Sim World 4 (and the Corris Railway in TS classic), I wanted to review another heritage railway in TSC, namely the Keighley & Worth Valley Railway. This route was brought to TSC by Steam Sounds Supreme with help from other third-party developers. The KWVR is a short heritage line running from Keighley to Oxenhope in West Yorkshi...

Settle to Carlisle review ~ Train Simulator

Taking a trip down Memory Lane (as it were) to review Dovetail's old Settle to Carlisle route in Train Simulator. It's significant to me as the second add-on I ever bought for this game, although I have realised that it has a few problems (such as its dated/basic scenery and linear nature, not to mention the old/poor-quality rolling stock that's included). The S&C is a famous route running over...

Linke Rheinstrecke is one of only two German TSW routes set in 1990s. The Long Island Railroad was done dirty in Train Sim World, as the original add-on (released in November 2018) was spoiled by bad scenery, an unrealistically quiet timetable and questionable decisions on where to cut the route coverage. For context: The MTA’s concerns for train stealing is actually real. There are cases of people stealing keys and stealing trains on the Subway. Does this make it okay? No way because while it actually has happened, it’s still extremely rare and I haven’t heard of someone stealing an LIRR/MNRR due to its far more complicated method of startup/more advanced signaling and operation standards then the Subway and there usually being two to more conductors on a Train aside from the Driver. Maybe during the 70s to the Early 80s but unheard of today.

    Some people will call it nitpicking, but this little thing also bothers me with the 801: in order to operate the doors using the guard's panel located next to some passenger doors, you MUST press E to stand at the guard's position. You can't simply click the buttons. Not only that, but your local door will close on you at the same time as all the other doors. The only trains with guard panels at passenger doors that behave realistically are the Class 158 and 484 + the 1938 Tube Stock (even if the doors are way too fast, the guard's panel behaves correctly), none of which are DTG products

    DTG most will say (Dove Tail Games) as I see it more like "Don't Test Games" as they never test anything they make reasons why everything is broken and has so many bugs all over it. If you say this game is Realistic your and idoit, as this game skip's everything that would make the game Realistic as it's just an arcade style game with really good graphics and a Fake timetable that everyone praises like its Gold.

    You complain about the PLD packs being too expensive, but they are probably the most detailed packs you can get for the game, not to mention just about every member and variant is included with the most in depth physics of any locomotives in the game.

    Personally I’m not a fan of DLC. What puts me off is the high price coupled with the sheer amount of DLCs required for the reskins. I think that for the high price more separate models should be included with the pack, especially considering the short length of the line. The other route on SSS, the Stainmore route, requires far fewer DLCs (in reality only Woodhead) which comes with plenty rolling stock. That route presents far better value for money imo. Btw for the Woodhead & RL50 route I recommend a track patch from Golden Age Development which converts these routes to use the Vulcan track pack. I consider the routes to look far more superior when driving with the patches installed

    I just got this route for TSW4 for PS5. It’s on sale for $10.99 or whatever it comes out to after taxes. My children love riding the NYC MTA, metro north, and LIRR. So they are excited of this DLC. So we had a chance to play yesterday. I thought this route is awesome. I’m more focused on the driving than the scenery so I didn’t notice a lot of those details you pointed out. I wasn’t really looking for them I guess. These strains are easier to drive than some of the trains in TSW. They pick up speed quick and brake within a short distance. I think that’s how they work in real life too. Overall, we are happy with this route and will probably get the LIRR commuter line once it goes on sale. The only weird thing is opening the doors. I don’t know if that is how it happens in real life but it’s something to have to get used to.

    Yeah, it is bizarre the situation with it. And, Damems is actually the shortest station in the UK, well shortest Standard Gauge station, and I like how you added Pendennis Castle in, as I rode behind the locomotive during the Spring Steam Gala, if you didn't see my short. I'm going to see D1015 on the line too, but not riding. As for whether this should go into TSW, I really dunno....what I think should come to TSW is the Airedale and Wharfedale lines (well it is my local line but that is beyond the point), as I think it makes a good candidate for the game, with the unique Class 333, 331, and Skyhook can give DTG their 158 to do in Northern Livery. The KWVR can be represented in AI by the Peak Forest stock, and possibly Flying Scotsman. Class 801 can be used for AI at Leeds and for the Skipton/Bradford Forester Square services.

    • @TheTrainspotterFromTauranga
      @TheTrainspotterFromTauranga Před 4 dny

      I got the idea to include a scene with Pendennis Castle after seeing photographs of the real thing at the KWVR on Flickr. As for whether or not the line should come to TSW, I would prefer the Airedale and Wharfedale lines too, simply because I think the KWVR is too short for a TSW add-on. What's more, I wouldn't mind seeing it set in the early 1990s with units like the Class 307 and Class 308, although a modern-image setting with 333s and 331s wouldn't be a bad idea.

      Also about Damems's size. I don't know it's reasoning but KWVR has a little diesel railcar it runs around, so the station size isn't a problem. In Galas, they usually run two trains. One bigger consist, and one single Carraige consist pulled by a shunter (usually D0226 Vulcan, the only survivor of her class)
