  • *****NOTE: Driver currently not working on fresh installs of MacOS************
I installed the driver on my mac 3 OS installs ago (currently on Ventura) but it
does not seem to be working according to new users trying to set up drivers.
I made a video on installing drivers on Windows 10. Its confirmed to be working
    there.

    Hi all,
As Maschine gains popularity with the Mk3 and the Maschine Plus, I thought I would share how my good old Mk1 performs in 2023.
I used the steps here to make it work on mac OS Monterey and it continued to work after future upgrades. :)

Hopefully it still works now if the steps are followed. Its definitely a more unconventional install process. I will try and test it on a secondary machine and post an update as soon as I can.

As an MPC 1000 and MPC One owner, I have definitely wanted to try mashine for a while. I come across v1 controllers all the time for like $75 and have been wondering how the are. Now I mostly work DAWless but i have been considering starting to purchase some VSTs and other PC tools to use with Ableton or the MPC software. I have considered getting a Mashine MK3 used but im not sold on going DAW full time but i was thinking it could be nice to have the option, but thats where i get torn and think maybe the + would be nice so i can run standalone or with a DAW.
Either way thanks for the video my dude

Great video, thanks a lot! Considering buying one for my dawless setup. Sorry for a noob question but I assume you can plug it to the midi setup containing devices such as microfreek and bunch of volcas. I also have a minilab mk3 as a controller -> midi thru multiplier to control volcas as they have just a midi input.

Hell yeah you can still use it! I’ve been using the MK1 since 2013. I have however finally ordered the MPC X. I’m ready to go standalone. I think Maschine is best in conjunction with the software that’s why I haven’t bought the Plus. But Akai is the king of standalone.

    • @beatsbyrey

The MPC X would definitely be my standalone of choice from a price standpoint. It would take some work learning the new workflow but it looks very intuitive!

appreciate the video, i purchased a used mk1 for $50. I did not want to break the bank and your video has eased my concerns a bit. The only thing that scares me is that i have been reading the these machines need a license, do i need a license/register the device? im just messing around trying to make beats for fun. thanks in advance for any ones input

Hi Miguel, as long as you get the Maschine Essentials 2 Software from the mentioned link in the description, it will work. Make sure to install drivers before you plug it in. Then you can open Maschine 2 Software and plug in the mk1 and it will work :)

@@beatsbyrey hey, thanks for the reply. i havent bought the maschine essential software yet but i did download the controller editor. im using a windows 10 pc, when i plug in the mk1all the buttons light up(and stay lit) but nothing shows up on the displays and when i press the pads editor doesnt recognize the touches. Out of curiosity i brought out an old windows 7 laptop and downloaded controller editor to it. to my surprise the pads lit up went off and lit up again and the displays showed the maschine logo and other info "download maschine software or press shift + control for midi" is windows 10 not compatible with the mk1 any longer? i dont want to buy the software and get stuck using windows 7

Hello bro, I have a second-hand maschine Mk1, I don't have its ID, you say that if I buy the Software, I can use it without the serial ID?
The next question is: Is it necessary to buy the Mashine software to be able to sync it with Ableton Live?
Sorry for the questions I hope you can help me, I don't speak English a thousand apologies!

      Hi there,
I upgraded my PC with a fresh install of windows 11 and will be setting up maschine and its drivers for my mk1 soon. I plan on doing a video of the install process and upload a video soon. Hope that helps. Since its an old device the ID no longer works to download the software unless it’s linked to your Native Instruments account. I bought mine on ebay and they didnt give me the license. I had the software that came with a Maschine mk3 mikro and it worked automatically with the mk1 once i installed the drivers.
I am not sure how to make it work with Ableton as midi controller but I will try that and see if I can make a video on that as well :)

      @beatsbyrey  Před 6 měsíci

Since the mk1 is pretty old, theres a good chance Native Instruments support will ask you to purchase the Maschine 2.0 software. It should work without issues once you have the software.
The controller requires the software as @3shabs3 mentioned. If you want a standalone Maschine device, you can look into the maschine plus. Though it is a little bit limited in hardware performance compared to using it with a computer.

MK1 no longer works on any recent MAC OS. 10.11 in 2015, was the last version that works with Mk1. There is no way to use MK1 maschine with modern Macs. The machines that run 10.11 are all very old now.
