This video is unsponsored and these are just my most used tools I use in the bike shop and anyone who works on there bikes at home or has a shop should really consider having these tools in there quiver for most used

Top 5 and it did’t include a cable cutter??!! I think it’s more important than a caliper spacer tool as you can use other tools to spread the pads apart (while being super careful mind you)
cable cutter is crucial as well you are right.... I was gonna put a 15mm wrench in there for al the cruiser flats I fix too @@liquidSpin
I'm glad I'm not the only one who found the Park Tool PP-1.2 to be super underrated.
really a nice tool
Knowing parktool and their ingenuity in naming tools, Im going to assume that the PP1-2 is an abbreviation for Piston Pusher and the 1-2 is just how quick and easy it is.
hahah thats a nice one, never thought of that
Great advice! I agree on the pick tools - took me many years of amateur wrenching before I realized how incredibly useful they are.
they are the root of a bike shop, and throw in a 15mm wrech for bolt on wheels lol
Wow, $100 for that Silca set. Typical Silca, charges a lot. Sure it's probably good quality, but you can get an equally high quality Wera hex and torx set for $30 each, you get proper length tools for each one, 1.5-10 mm. Wera also has the hex plus profile for the hex keys which helps bolts to not round out and remove rounded out bolts.
Project Farm tested a bunch of hex wrenches including the Wera with HexPlus and it did quite well in the results.
The supposed benefit of the Silka hex set (although Wera claims the same thing) is that each piece is supposed to be dimensionally accurate to within a hundredth of a millimeter, and that is after the chrome plating.
Silca also claim they use a much different chroming process which applies much slower (allows them to get dimension more correct) and which does not create a "grain", which normal plating does (which makes the chrome peel off over time and also allows water ingress which can lead to rust).
I didn't know that, seems interesting. Definitely two companies who like to innovate to produce good tools. I have watched that Project Farm video. Lots of other mechanics on CZcams seem to recommend Wera tools, so I'm sure they are good. Nothing against Silca at all, I think they make good products. Just most of them are very expensive.
trhere are a ton of options out there fdrom expensive too cheap but I really think how the tool wears comes down to the user using it, I have seen so mnay people brake nice tools and round them out simply from not having the knowledge and not knowing when something is not moving or budging
Pretty good common sense stuff. I've been using the Kool Stop levers for years, cheap and come in sets of three. Can't really afford not to have a set or two. Keep them in the seat bag always. I also have some cheap plastic caliper spreaders that I carry so that any time a wheel comes off the bike for any reason I can use one. Just in case. Great information, thanks...
Awesome video.
One tire lever recommendation is the Tire Glider (which doesn’t look like a traditional lever). It’s not a gimmick and has made quick work of even the tightest fitting tires. 30 years of cycling and I still hate changing tires. No longer a bother!
thank you veyr much
I prefer to have the cassette tool as a socket (for 3/8" square preferably, 1/2" is considerably overbuilt for the torque settings you'll encounter working on bikes) which can be used with a ratchet or a torque wrench.
My Topeak was made that way, but its square drive size is 1/2-inch, so I always needed my 1/2-to-3/8-inch adaptor.
Enjoyed your vid. For hydro brake spreader use plastic headed one as steel cracks and chips pads.
Cheers from down under.
thank you!!!
Awesome video, a real treat to see,I use a King Tony long lever Allen key set and 1/4 inch rachet and socket bits for my repairs. They work like a dream.💯👌🏻✌🏻🚴♀️
Sounds great!
I really like the Icon hex keys (color coded metric & SAE) & pick set at Harbor freight a pretty good deal (~$21 a set).
yea I mean there are a ton of options what it really comes down too is the person using them knowing how to use them right
do more workshop videos
thanks so much!!!
Sweet brake pad tool for new folks
yea it works very well and is something nice to keep ion the car if you remove your wheel alot of transporting
@@GCPerformance18 oh newbies with disc brakes
Nice setup bro! I exclusively use a crowbar, a mallet if I'm in a hurry. Happy New Years 🥂🥂
hahahah mallet is in the line up
This video came out in a timely manner. I just got my Harbor Freight Pelican knock-off case and after watching the "Toolbox Wars" videos for the last two years and drooling over how these pro bike mechanics stock their Pelican cases with custom foam cutouts for each tool, I finally decided to do the same thing.
I just ordered my final load of tools and that should complete my kit forever. Uggg. Even ordering some budget tools, it adds up quick. "$15 or $25 for this or that tool? No problem!" Add to cart! Lets get more tools at tgat price. Add to cart. Add to cart. Multiplied by 100-plus tools when my list was all said and done. Lets take a look at the subtotal. Oh, crud. This hobby is making me broke.
I hear ya. But a good set of tools is so nice to have. A few years down the road you will forget about how much you spent!
Better than paying a shop to do it..... most of the time.
Great vid. 👍🏻
thanks so much
Oh C'mon! THE most essential tool is the apprentice, the "gopher". :P
"I need you to wash and degrease this bike first"
"I need a coffee, STAT!"
"Is this cable deburred?" [pokes forearm]
"Can you duck out and grab me 2 skyhooks and a square cubit from [insert hardware store]?"
no lie this is a must, and someone you can trust to send customers too when you are off
OR... [sees a certain type of customer approach]
"I'll let you take care of this one, I gotta go for a sec (and look at meme's on the toilet for 20min)"
I jest peoeples! ;p
Thanks so much
you are welcome
Who makes the titanium cassette removal tools? I like that. Sucker for anything titanium :)
look up silca.cc and go to shop tools I have a discount code in the description for 10 percent off
No. 6 Gloves
truth
Off topic but please Grant make Scott/Syncros send you a set of Capital SL Aero wheels and do a video on them
I would love too but I do not think I have that much pull hahaha but hopefuilly a customer wil get them in soon
I enjoyed this video. Thanks GC!
haven't seen that face in a while
:) thanks!!!
im gonna have to go by the shop and see what you guys got
come on by
My Xmas gifts were pretty much all bike and car tools. I got the the Jagwire hydraulic brake tools, since they can be used one handed and I feel the design is better than Park... we will see if my feelings are correct on an upcoming build.
Man..... I want your Christmas.
Very nice!
Well, not every video is for every person. Thats ok. Gotta create for the majority of people.
of course, I just like showing off what i like
Park Tool CP-1.2 is a better chain whip IMO, no more chain slip, tried many...
I do not like the levers as much I like the chain whip, get a good wrap, you dont have to worry
I'm curious which torque tools (wrenches, drivers,...) do you use?
jjust park tool, we have had a long relationship with them and work well for the price and if we ever have issues they are easyt to replace them.... works great for shops
What brand are the chain wip and chain cassette tools? Where can mere mortals purchase them?
Tim

I have a discount code in the description as well for you if you like..... I think it is like 10 percent off
I know it’s clean, but I’m just gonna give it a little wipe off. Take my tool, shove it inside of there. Working back to forth. Going into the bottom, go into the top.
what the fuck does that even mean lol
@@GCPerformance18 That’s you in your video working with your Park ‘Tool’ ‘piston spreader’
can you show me how to index a mechanical Shimano groupset, I can use all my gears and it keeps dropping the chain?
yea we can make a video like that
What do you think About Shimano official tools
love them I use there y wrench all the time and some of there bleeding tools
Never trust a bike mechanic with black gloves🤣😂 Happy New Year
of courseeeee
So have you compared the PS-1 vs PP-1.2 for separating pistons?
yea I just feel with the pp-1.2 it has more girth and really separates them good
@@GCPerformance18 Good to know, I've been debating between the two
The internet....torque specs, assembly diagram, spoke calc, & anything else that doesn't fit in my head or I want to double check...
yea this is true
Every day, 2 words.
before YOU know it, boom! a sound vocabulary, don't stop!🤭🤭🤭
yes
No Robertson bit for the allen keys.
No need. Where on any bike is there a Robertson head?
yea we dont really need those
I know you're using one, but what about a torque wrench, and which do you use? That is a must IMHO. I'm drooling over the titanium lockring/chain whip.
I just use a park tool, I have the 5nm set ones that are use and swap out tool bits, those are for easy stem builds and face plate, but also the adjustable one from park tool
Here's my torque tool set:
Pro Bike Tool 1/4-inch (square drive) torque wrench (2-20 Nm, 0.1 Nm increments)
Park Tool TW-6.2 (3/8-inch, 10-60 Nm)
Prestacycle Pro TorqKey (5 Nm preset torque key) (optional, but handy if you work with most cockpits frequently enough, not awkwardly big to bring along on rides)
Cone wrenches didn't make the top ten? Times have changed (except maybe at Shimano).
oh yea, those are no longer there, everything now is just press in...... I was thinking about including my 15mm wrench for the cruiser tires, but it is not youtube friendly but I use that all the time for my cheap tire changes
Cone wrenches aren't needed and used as frequently as before, but since components like my pedals are Shimano SPD-SL, I still use mine for servicing them.
I assume you let your customers pump their own tires.
of course, I have a compressor but sometimes people have junbky tires that look like they are going to explode past 30 psi, so we do not air those up out of liability and plus if we do blow them up and they explode then the customer implies that it is our fault and wants a new tire for free
when you hire the seat whats that salary like?
what?
@@GCPerformance18 I speak jive..."How much do you charge to raise my seat"?
@@randy3907I actually think you nailed it😂
you said you can lower the seat or 'hire' the seat...talking about your tri tip wrench...@@GCPerformance18
Curiously, none of these tools fit a Canyon bike. Am I right? 🤣
correct none will fit pos canyon bikes
@@turner02Wera Allen wrenches will turn stripped out bolts.
You're right, the Canyon is too LARGE😂
I mean sure, canyon bikes dont have chain and cassettes
@@turner02 pos? dude, you're either ignorant or a liar. Canyon is one of the top bike builders in the world.
