      Top 5 and it did’t include a cable cutter??!! I think it’s more important than a caliper spacer tool as you can use other tools to spread the pads apart (while being super careful mind you)

    I'm glad I'm not the only one who found the Park Tool PP-1.2 to be super underrated.

  • @suhdud4646
    @suhdud4646 Před 5 měsíci +5

    Knowing parktool and their ingenuity in naming tools, Im going to assume that the PP1-2 is an abbreviation for Piston Pusher and the 1-2 is just how quick and easy it is.

      they are the root of a bike shop, and throw in a 15mm wrech for bolt on wheels lol

  • @lemonshire1
    @lemonshire1 Před 5 měsíci +5

    Wow, $100 for that Silca set. Typical Silca, charges a lot. Sure it's probably good quality, but you can get an equally high quality Wera hex and torx set for $30 each, you get proper length tools for each one, 1.5-10 mm. Wera also has the hex plus profile for the hex keys which helps bolts to not round out and remove rounded out bolts.

    • @alexjohnson6462
      @alexjohnson6462 Před 5 měsíci +3

      Project Farm tested a bunch of hex wrenches including the Wera with HexPlus and it did quite well in the results.
      The supposed benefit of the Silka hex set (although Wera claims the same thing) is that each piece is supposed to be dimensionally accurate to within a hundredth of a millimeter, and that is after the chrome plating.
      Silca also claim they use a much different chroming process which applies much slower (allows them to get dimension more correct) and which does not create a "grain", which normal plating does (which makes the chrome peel off over time and also allows water ingress which can lead to rust).

    • @lemonshire1
      @lemonshire1 Před 5 měsíci

      I didn't know that, seems interesting. Definitely two companies who like to innovate to produce good tools. I have watched that Project Farm video. Lots of other mechanics on CZcams seem to recommend Wera tools, so I'm sure they are good. Nothing against Silca at all, I think they make good products. Just most of them are very expensive.

    • @GCPerformance18
      @GCPerformance18  Před 5 měsíci +1

      trhere are a ton of options out there fdrom expensive too cheap but I really think how the tool wears comes down to the user using it, I have seen so mnay people brake nice tools and round them out simply from not having the knowledge and not knowing when something is not moving or budging

    Pretty good common sense stuff. I've been using the Kool Stop levers for years, cheap and come in sets of three. Can't really afford not to have a set or two. Keep them in the seat bag always. I also have some cheap plastic caliper spreaders that I carry so that any time a wheel comes off the bike for any reason I can use one. Just in case. Great information, thanks...

    Awesome video.
    One tire lever recommendation is the Tire Glider (which doesn’t look like a traditional lever). It’s not a gimmick and has made quick work of even the tightest fitting tires. 30 years of cycling and I still hate changing tires. No longer a bother!

    I prefer to have the cassette tool as a socket (for 3/8" square preferably, 1/2" is considerably overbuilt for the torque settings you'll encounter working on bikes) which can be used with a ratchet or a torque wrench.

    This video came out in a timely manner. I just got my Harbor Freight Pelican knock-off case and after watching the "Toolbox Wars" videos for the last two years and drooling over how these pro bike mechanics stock their Pelican cases with custom foam cutouts for each tool, I finally decided to do the same thing.
    I just ordered my final load of tools and that should complete my kit forever. Uggg. Even ordering some budget tools, it adds up quick. "$15 or $25 for this or that tool? No problem!" Add to cart! Lets get more tools at tgat price. Add to cart. Add to cart. Multiplied by 100-plus tools when my list was all said and done. Lets take a look at the subtotal. Oh, crud. This hobby is making me broke.
