I wonder how the horse thing is gonna play out in online multiplayer. Like ur just gonna spend 500 dollars buying and upgrading your horse, spending hours into forming a bond, just for someone to shoot it on sight the moment u meet another player
To be honest, the trapper saddles are the best. The reason is it’s bonus are over 20+, so instead of 6%, 8%, and 10%, you can get 24%, 26%, and 20%. Im not sure, but i think the reason why you can’t choose the hooded stirrups (or any stirrups for that matter) is because the stirrups you already get from the saddles is the exact same from the best purchasable stirrups.

I had one made out of alligator hidefrom a trapper and had to pick it up at the horse stall. There's four different specs that are upgradedfrom anywhere between 20% to 50%. It's much better than the other saddles on the list that you could just buy. I'm sure everybody already knew that though.

Please make a trapper saddle video anyways, it is obvious that many want to see it. Also, if you have a good bond the stirrups don't matter as much - making The trapper saddles better.

Maybe people don’t listen to anything because your information is incorrect. Stirrups are currently bugged and don’t offer any bonuses to the stats. So right now, the crafted/trapper saddles are the best in game.
There was a patch released since He made this video, the crafted saddles (trapper saddles) all have +2 speed now. You can confirm by going to >Player>Horse>Overview
Between improved Gerden Vaquero Saddle with Hooded Stirrup mod and Panther Trail saddle... Benefits of Panther: 10% difference stamina core drain rate. 6% difference health core drain rate. 8% difference stamina regen. Additionally, the +2 acceleration and +2 speed from stirrup bonus is included. No reason to use any other saddle ever.
I think the crafted saddles can only become better than the stable one's after you maxed your horse stats after defeating a stranger on a horse race that increases the speed and acceleration of your horse. Win the horse race for a couple of times and maybe you might just max out the speed and acceleration without the stable saddles making the crafted ones better. Never tried it yet since I only raced him once where I maxed the speed of my arabian with a stirrup and the additional 1 stat of speed for winning the horse race. I don't know if racing the strangfr a second time would yield to another stat to increase
At first when I was looking at the saddles I was like well why would you want ( + core drain rate ) lol im like if you add drain rate it will drain faster not slower ha ha. Hopefully we shall be getting more saddle options in the future.
Be careful when buying a saddle. Two times I have accidentally bought a saddle. That can hurt your rd2 wallet if you’re not a rich cowboy. There’s something different in the stable buying system from other stores. In stores you can usually view the item and it’s options. That’s what I thought I was about to do in the stable ‘buy a saddle menu’.

Anyway, I’m towards the end of chapter 4 now. To be honest, I’m perfectly content just riding around on the horse, hunting and fishing, and wiping out a few O’Driscolls and Lemoyne Raiders. 😎 I’m in no hurry to finish it completely.

My horse is always agitated. It doesn’t matter which horse I choose, they all become agitated for no reason. I thought maybe it was because I was using the wrong saddles, but I guess not. This game is so good, but it’s also so broken ;(
The trapper panther saddle is the best for stamina (+26%), the bear saddle the best for health (+26%), even with the stirrups all other saddles dont get even close to those values...... 16% vs 26%? the 50% core drain rate you get by default from the crafted saddles :/ no need for stirrups.....
I use the panther saddle because it looks awesome, let's face it nobody actually rides their horse very far, you have fast travel for that or the train and stage coach

The Garden Vaquero Saddle improved says core drain rate -14% with a arrow pointing up. Core drain rate -16% with an arrow pointing up and regan rate +16% with an arrow pointing up. Why is it different on this video?
The panther saddle does have the hooded stirrups and have the benefits of them I am look at the stars and they are there for my horse not to many people actually look at those stats in the menu where you pause the game go to player go to the horse then the overview with the panther saddle equip did and it will have the benefit of the hooded stirrups
the saddles from the trapper are better... just look at the stats... the aligator one for example is easy to get and is better... is used the snake and later the panther saddle

I found an all black American Thoroughbred like the brindle 😱😀...and a mustang in the same spot but I had to make a choice so I stuck with the thoroughbred since they are they fastest in the game. A bit different ride from the Arabian though.

Itama Uchiha As the bond with your horse improves, those Speed/Stamina stats will also improve. The grey bar indicates the potential your horse has for improvement in those categories. All you have to do is enhance that bond and level by level the stats for your horse will also be upgraded.
Am I missing something on the bonus for speed? My black Arabian has an extra greyed out box that can be filled with another bonus. however no equipment will fill it. Max I have is too yellow bars in each. Is there a better one post game?
You have to have an encounter with a man or woman who wants to race. You have to find and race with them twice and then, upon winning, the last speed bar will fill out. Ive played the game twice and both times found the woman who races near Rhodes and the man who races east of fort Wallace

great vid! ty. one thing I hate about rdr2 is the "leaving behind ur saddle" thing! it can be confusing. especially if ur on johns farm and u put ur horses in his barn, take the saddle off and then later u hop onto a mount and fast travel, then to find that u hopped on the wrong horse and u have no saddle and u gotta find a barn to retrieve it!! so stooopid! I feel u should no longer need the stables after john builds his own stable. am I makin any sense here lol ? does anyone else feel this way??

Yes correct, unless you don’t really care about horse speed/acceleration. Personally, I think the horse speed/Accel are 2 of the most important stats, because there is so much horse travel in this game that having a slow horse is just tedious. Once you get to the epilogue, be sure to buy the Arabian horse at Blackwater Stable. It’s the best! Speed, acceleration and stamina are all incredible
I wish they would let us attach stirrups to the trapper saddles, they look so so so much better but there is no way in hell I'm sacrificing +2 speed and acceleration!

I spent all 6 chapters and both epilogues trying to get ten perfect snake hides. I think I ended up with four.

They have no stat upgrades for your horse. Only cosmetic so makes pretty much no sense to use them.

I think u need to win some races with it in order to fill that out. There are random encounters where someone challenges u to a race
I raced a guy will he challenge me again and if so will he do it in same spot?

great vid! ty. one thing I hate about rdr2 is the "leaving behind ur saddle" thing! it can be confusing. especially if ur on johns farm and u put ur horses in his barn, take the saddle off and then later u hop onto a mount and fast travel, then to find that u hopped on the wrong horse and u have no saddle and u gotta find a barn to retrieve it!! so stooopid! I feel u should no longer need the stables after john builds his own stable. am I makin any sense here lol ? does anyone else feel this way??

Looking for clarification on what the Hooded Stirrup is doing for us. Is it -50% for Stamina Drain Rate or Stamina Core Drain Rate?

I like the panther saddle.. thought for sure snake would've been the best seeing how time consuming it is. But it's not in my opinion.... What is everyone using now?
I wish the "Vaquero" was an actual Mexican saddle. I have one in real life and LOVE it.
Snake saddle and panther saddle suit me just fine.
Just hunt perfect pelts and have a trapper make you a saddle, the stats are better then all of these options.

Yes correct, unless you don’t really care about horse speed/acceleration. Personally, I think the horse speed/Accel are 2 of the most important stats, because there is so much horse travel in this game that having a slow horse is just tedious. Once you get to the epilogue, be sure to buy the Arabian horse at Blackwater Stable. It’s the best! Speed, acceleration and stamina are all incredible

I wish they would let us attach stirrups to the trapper saddles, they look so so so much better but there is no way in hell I'm sacrificing +2 speed and acceleration!
My favourites are the alligator and panther saddlles.
