- Dad brought out his fishing boat to the lake house for Memorial Day Weekend. It is a 1980 Gregor 14ft V-Bottom Boat with a 1998 Mercury 30HP engine. This boat is overpowered but will get you from point A to B in a jiffy.

Man. nice I picked up a 1977 Gregor last year in excellent condition, it says it will take up to a 20hp, I've got on a new Mercury 15hp four stroke EFI, it averages around 24-25 mph not to shabby !
Great boat for sure. Dads had his for so long!
I have the exact same boat with a 1975 Mercury 200 20hp 2 cycle hanging off the back. Just rebuilding the lower unit and hoping for another 20 years of reliable use. I can’t imagine a 30 like that pushing along. That has to be crazy fast on flat water!
watching him count to plane was awesome. he loves that boat. building a boat right now with a 25hp and cant wait to take it out on the water.
He definitely does! And nice! Enjoy it.
I love aluminum boats. They are work horses and last forever with minimum care.
I have the exact same boat, but with a 15 horse. I bet it does "haul" with the 30.
Many years ago I had an alumacraft t14v with a Yamaha 15hp two stroke. I had the motor setup really high and had carbon fiber reeds. It would run 29mph on the gps.
Nice! Sounds like a fun ride 🤘🏻
I have a 14 ft v hall a little wider than that one and just picked up 40horse for it
How is it going? I'm thinking of the same
@mustangyourbrain It's fast does about 30 it works pretty good I'll probably put a video of it on my channel soon.
How you guys getting away with these oversized motors? Most of these 14’ boats are only rated for 15hp some 20hp, DNR, Sheriff or USCG doesn’t bother you?
No sir. No issues!
I have an alumacraft lunker 14 SS that holds a 40
14 foot Star Craft w/ M50D outboard. Definitely a little rocket
Top speed?
We have never clocked his boat. Next time it’s out, we will use GPS for an estimated speed.
30 h/p 🎉😅
How fast can it go? Top speed
We did not laser clock the boat but based on gps speed, it got up to 28mph
I'm guessing this boat can go over 30 m.p.h. ???
Under rough water conditions, dad clocked it around 29-30mph.
@@doublejoutdoors765 Understand--maybe a little more on smooth water !!
@@doublejoutdoors765 what prop are you running?
