Nice running outfit! When I was a young teenager, had an old 11.9' blue Sea King, with a 1966 9.8hp Merc on it. A really light boat, and when running Amsoil 2 cycle oil, that boat would literally fly, with just myself in it! With a little yhtottle control, I used to use other boat wakes to get it airborne!! Still alive to tell about it! It stands to reason why Dads worry about their own Sons!!
@mattsboatyard6891 If I'm correct, 1966 was the first year they had the black cover and the newer ignition. Picked it up used, inthe mid 70's. It was used occasionally as auxiliary on a sailboat, so it had plenty of life in it!
Quite a lot of years ago my Uncle and Aunt owned the mobile home trailer park on this lake. I built a Glen-l designed b-utility 11.6 ft. boat called Lil Jinx, with a 16 hp. Mark-20 Mercury outboard. Every time I came for a visit from Detroit, I would bring my boat. My girlfriend and I had a lot of fun jumping wakes with this rig. It was pretty fast!
I actually had to use an impeller for a 1950s era Mercury Mark 20/Mark 25 outboard because I couldn’t find one that cataloged for the 1963 Merc 200. It has worked well but I did need to file the key way out a little bit for it to fit
how high is your transom? I have a 12 foot tinny with a 15 inch transom and the spec plate on the boat says 10 HP max but I am considering upgrading my suzuki 9.9 to a 20 hp because all I need to do is remove the restrictor plate and swap the ECM... but I have seen mixed opinions on using a 20 HP on a 12 footer
20 hp is the max. I’ve ran a 25 before but it really was a little too much and it made the boat unbalanced. I personally think something around 10-15 hp is perfect for this hull.

That sounds like a great rig too! Those 1960s 9.8's are nice running motors

Nice run there! My MirroCraft is a 14 footer. I still don't have a motor that will run 30mph on it. But I am working on that! Thanks for sharing.
Thank you for watching. mirrocrafts are great boats!

Those are great outboards- I’ve actually got a nice mark 20 that I’ve been meaning to do a video with. Good runner.
I have this exact boat and am currently building it. I was wondering what a 20 would do strapped to it this is perfect!
It is a fun set up!!!
Beautiful
the early 60's merc's are good looking outboards
Freakin awesome!
it's a fun outboard/boat combination for sure!
Hey there, i am currently going through one of these merc 200 motors and was curious where you picked up an impeller from?
Thank you for your time

My boat is a 12 ft and a 15" transom too. It is a heavier 12 ft boat than most though and is rated for 20 hp.
What is the max hp you can run? I have the same 12ft but I don’t have the placard
