    I have a 2018 remedy. It is one of the best bikes I’ve ever owned if not the best. Some days I’ll choose that over my 200mm downhill bike at the bike park. These bikes are notoriously fun and i would highly recommend! :)

    Interesting video. Mike, your video presentation is superb - you’re clear and very knowledgeable, which helps immensely.
    I’m a really big fan of 29” wheels, but the only caveat that I have noticed with the Slash, is that the super slack seattube actually seems to cause problems with the dropper seatpost; from my somewhat limited experience with it, I had to almost make sure I was placing pressure on the tip of the saddle to make it drop smoothly.
    I am however, blown away by how smooth the suspension is on the descents and how well it pedals up.

    Own a pushed 2014 Remedy 9 with Nobl wheels and 150mm fork Went XL vs L to get more reach and stability and it has been a phenomenal platform for PNW riding and excels at most things. Superb technical climber, great descender and quite playful and reactive. I wouldn't hesitate to go 2019 Remedy 9.8 at $7100 CAD. The spec is very competitive, equal or better than most other brands and they include a carbon wheelset which is a big up sell IMHO if you like a more reactive bike and spend a lot of time climbing.
    Shandro picks Slash. Yup but I wouldn't read too much into that because he rides much faster up and down than 99% of riders and can actually get what your supposed to out of that bike on the shore. See him regularly on our local trails he's a beast. I still think most would be happier and having more fun on the Remedy as its quicker, more responsive and still plenty fast on the down. That and the Remedy has a longer warranty..

      @moldyketchuphead Před 5 lety

      I demoed the 2019 SJ. I tried both the high and low chip setting. The low setting was definitely better, but the bike had a weird "bounding" feel to it like being on a slow speed trampoline. I tried an Expert Carbon too, so it wasn't one of the cheapy builds. I feel like if a rider wanted to play with the settings for a couple seasons they could dial it in, but all in all I didn't like the bike. Though if climbing is your most important consideration, it climbed extremely efficiently.

    Those 2.6's actually look big enough to be 2.6", so i think that's a nice touch for 2019. I wasn't impressed with the RS rear shock on the 2018, so I am disappointing to see its still there in 2019. The 2018 had too much low speed compression, even in the fully unlocked setting. They also need to move away from using trek specific mounting hardware and stroke lengths. this seems like a very small improvement over the 2018, and the 2018 was only a small improvement over the 2017. I feel It's a great bike at a great price, but not that exciting.

    • @nathancampbell9211
      @nathancampbell9211 Před 5 lety

    • @hobmarg
      @hobmarg Před 5 lety

      230x57.5 trunion mount shock size so it's a stupid proprietary sizing by Trek... standard metric trunion mount would be 205x60, 205x62.5 or 205x65... assuming with custom hardware you could fit a 230x60 non-trunion metric shock but it will change geo a bit.
