Well Starfield costs $70 it may take you 2 weeks to figure out it's utter garbage but you can test it for a month on gamepass $10. paying $40 for it at a discount still isn't worth it. there is a lot of triple A garbage that may take you more than a couple of days/hours to see exactly how garbage it is, what if you don't give a damn about game files you just wanna test a $70 game for a month for $10-20.

My dude says that "service wont stop, you wont lose your progress" basically at the same time that Ubisoft themselves announcing that The Crew (the first one, the one thats is better than two others) will be terminated forever, iirc, in january 2024. A fully online game with objectively no reason for it being fully tethered to online servers will be gone. You bought it? You have some progress on it? You decided that you will play it other time cause you dont have enough time right now? What a shame. Its gone. Forever.

I know babylons fall was not popular at all but imagine paying 60 dollars for it and only for them to remove it under year. If thats not a scam idk what is.

They don't care what the market "demands". They want subscription revenue for many reasons, but one of the most being that it's consistent. Plus things like people that sub then completely forget and never cancel etc. The industry as a whole at the AAA level will push as hard as they can towards all digital. Look at how hard Microsoft has/is pushing gamepass. They will ease off a bit if the backlash gets TOO bad (like the original plans for the Xbox One always online thing). But the game industry has a history of "give them a inch and they will take a mile".

The biggest problem with subscription based games is the fact that you have to be online to play them. I live in a rural area and Internet seems to be very costly over $100 a month. Back before Starlink was a thing was paying $120 a month for 100 gigs. Just watching movies on Netflix and updating games that I already owned on my Xbox and PS4 would wipe out that hundred gigs in the first day or two of the month. I have to go the rest of the month on super slow Kilobyte speed or less, also what would happen if for some reason the Internet was out for an extended period of time a week two weeks three weeks a month? You’re paying for something you cannot even use at that point. I prefers subscriptions like Xbox game pass, where I have access to hundreds of games for one monthly low cost and I get that on my Xbox at home my Xbox that travels with me and on my laptop plus my PC… so in the long run it is cheaper to have game pass ultimate than buy multiple copies of the same game.

Also the 307 (2018 pixel art LED front), 309 (2019 updated pixel art LED front), 315 (same thing with more glass outside), 515 (Now with LCD screen on front and mesh over fans!)
There's been many variations since the original 303 in 2016 but if you want a nice looking and sturdy full size tower it's an excellent platform to start with. Intake from underneath and exhaust out the side is plenty for cooling and also means you can safely store a cat on top, headphone holder on the front or just stick random fridge magnets to it like I did

  • @SealFormulaMaster

Beyond the fact that a developer might go away, there's also the fact that the platform might go away. About 20 or so years ago I bought Mount and Blade from the GameStop online platform. That platform got shut down, and my access to the game I paid for is gone. Now, that was a small platform, I'm sure Steam isn't going to shut down any time soon, but what happens if Ubisoft decides their online platform is costing too much money and it's better to just have Steam distribute? If cross save isn't set up, too bad, you just lost your games. If a game doesn't have physical medium, I don't buy it, simple as that. Sure, I might still buy digital for some things, but if the media doesn't have physical I can buy should I need to, I'm not risking it.

    • @masterluckyluke

That's always the problem with online stores like Steam. Even if it doesn't seem possible at the moment. A company can always go down and shut down its servers forever.
