My SCAR 17 is the best rifle I own and the first I’d grab.
I have the non reciprocating version, I like it but I definitely agree on the mags being way too expensive. My main complaint is that the lower receiver isn't fully ambi.

Unless you’re running an OSS/HUXWRX can be sure to by some smaller gas jets to eliminate the over gassing issue. If you don’t and run a standard baffle can eventually you’ll cant the rear receiver bolts and once that happens you can’t fix it. Also adding an aluminum aftermarket stock will cause the same issue and gas jets won’t help that so I’d keep the factory polymer stock on it.
Got some use blk mags for 15 bucks. Bought 7 of them lol. Local gun store. They work flawless

Even with the few issues they are VERY durable!
I love the SCAR having owned 3 16’s and 1 17. That said, it’s certainly not a perfect rifle. There’s quite a bit I’d change about it. For me I’d like a bigger mag release since I have short fingers. I’d like a true suppressor setting and to not void my warranty shooting suppressed. FN should at least offer an approved suppressor. I’d like a full ambi lower that takes AR grips. MLOK rails would be nice too. The trigger from the factory should be the Geissle in my opinion. A few QD sling cups would be nice too.
how would they know you suppressed it, if it was warrrantied?
@@mrrod3004 A broken carrier is probably a dead giveaway. Honestly though with the newer Huxwrx suppressors, it’s probably a non issue.
@KnifeCursed so, if I had issues running a high end suppressor and I sent it in and said I did not run a suppressor would I still be voided? Could they prove it? I'm on the verge of buying this gun and if gonna be like that I'll just spend the 5k and buy the sig spear lol.
@KnifeCursed iv broken bolt carriers on non suppressed guns before and high end gun, was a b&t. Was warrantied no questions asked.
@@mrrod3004 Honestly, I have no idea. My assumption though is that if they suspect you’ve run it suppressed they’ll void your warranty. You could always be dishonest with them if that’s the kind of person you are and see if you get away with it. That’s up to you though. The SPEAR is interesting but the barrel/hand guard flex issue is super concerning to me.
also you can def use P mags and drums with no conversion needed

Get that KNS Scarging handle upgrade and the Mrex Rail will help change your mind

@@kylebradley3 I ended up not buying it unfortunately bought another DD and a Zastava M77 instead not as cool as the Scar but aye hopefully I can get one off of GB for a better price later only wanted one just to say I got one
It’s only eotechs that break on scars.
And it’s not even the scar. Rote has admitted to having reliability issues in 2015
