What a dope looking rifle. FN’s reluctance to support these on the civilian market is a shame.
You can buy an entry level motorcycle for the price of this gun and the FIRST OPTIC WHICH IT WILL ALMOST CERTAINLY BREAK due to it's "Tuning Fork" trait. Buy the motorcycle instead, more useful and it will give you more actual use. That said I almost applaud the contempt FN shows to fanboys via the ludicrous price. A fool and his money soon part and very often should part.
The motorcycle will be a depreciating asset and more likely to kill you than then the rifle, but I agree with you on everything.
The SCAR as a concept is why I feel confident in the AR platform. The SCAR-H is why ive been debating between an HK91 copy or MARS-H pattern AR10.
@@ALovelyBunchOfDragonballz Unless you are notably over 6ft tall and have large long hands PASS ON THE 91, yes I own one. Also if you are A handloader the 91s fluted chamber damages A noticeable portion of the brass used. AR-10s = Dice Roll or coin flip
@@AKloveris this bait?
FN explicitly says they won't warrantee suppressed scars. The civilian model has different gas jets than the mk20. Good call with the scarburetor. The stock gas valve will destroy the receiver. And agreed, the stock pisses me off too
I've has this gun with the 140gr Hornady ELD Matcha and SOCOM supressor. Cosnistent .25-.5" groups at 100 yards. Just hit 200 rounds, no malfunctions. Impressed!
I think the pic rail on the sides make a lot of sense so you can have a clip on taking up your top rail space and you can have a IR laser/ ir illuminator on the side
Personally, I've never been a fan of the SCAR platform, but neat to see what you've done with it. I'm hopefully going to grab a PWS Mk218 in 6.5cm one of these years which should be a bit more my speed.
Scars are very accurate, love my 17s in 308. Picky about gas pressure when suppressed but once you get it set it's amazing and reliable.
I agree about the dumb quad rails, i put a pmag lower on mine as well.
picky about gas pressure is contrary to reliable
@@dustbustr91 how many high back pressure suppressors do you run?
did you have to modify your mag release to get the AR10 / SR25 mags to work?
@@ghost101049 i'm running an aftermarket billet lower on mine
@@ghost101049 I'm pretty sure you need a new lower to use sr25 mags.
Can't deny the Scar drip!
Great video brother.
deadshot barrels got you covered for shorter barrel…. :) got one, came with mlok lower rail installed….does the job very well
If youre new to rifles or brakes: I installed a Xeno brake on my ARs to run a can (DA recommends brakes even though i dont like them) and the first time i fired with the brake my gun didnt move. Its a 12.5 carbine so it normally has a bit of a sharp, if relatively minor, jump to it. Brass went out the side, my hair moved in the muzzle blast, the range went quiet for a moment, but the rifle stayed damn near perfectly still.
Brakes can make you feel like you should be shouting "backblast area clear" with every shot, but they do 100% work as advertized. I cant personally recommend them but only because they tend to work too well.
0.491 MOA with a can on, dang man!
Awesome video as usual. Thanks for all the info. I have the 308 and will get a scar-burator after watching this.
Yeah its a must if you plan on suppressing it.
That setup would do great at Ben Franklin Range in PA!
I got to fire one of the earlier scar-s. Didnt run it long enough to love it or hate it. It did seem a little picky with certain ammo, but it was surprisingly easy to put rounds on target. 6.5 Sounds like a great upgrade from .308.
2 of my buddies have scarh/17 & 20. Both of those things are...unbelievably accurate. With hand loads doing clover leaf patterns at 100. I simply would not believe it if i never got to shoot them myself. That being said they are too buku for my peasant ass.
Do you know the recipe for the handloads? Shooting 6.5 or 308?
@@ghost101049simply develop them with experimenting. What might work in 1 rifle might not work in another
I wish other companies would build semi-auto rifles with CHROME LINED 6.5 Creedmoor barrels. My AR10 has a chrome lined barrel from Criterion that has around 7K rounds on it. It still shoots as tight as the day it was brand new. Having said that, I don't abuse my rifle but I don't baby it either. I love their chrome line hybrid profile barrel so much I'm willing to shoot 308 because they don't make a chrome lined 6.5 barrel.
Shout out to Rock Lake Rifle Range! Best long range facility in eastern Washington/north Idaho
Do they still have the policy of you suppress it you void the warranty?
I came here for the same question.
Would it make sense to get a second identical can to cool one while shooting the other?
Throw some Lucas Fishing Reel Oil on those screws. The rust will stay away.
Did you ever experience any pierced primers on your spent brass? I have a Scar 20 6.5CM Reciprocating, and it pierces primers... I'd love to hear from you. I'm awaiting submitting it for warranty work.
Would you prefer this or an ADM UIC10a?
Wouldnt useing a can wrap eliminate mirrage???
Where is the course that you showed the clips from (i.e., the wadi, the uphill engagement, the truck bed, etc.)? Thanks.
Desert brutality put on by in-range.
SCAR's are cool concepts but I'll stick to my AR-10's in 308/7.62.
Ar1.10 & 15 FN
considering that 6.5 is better at any range thats dumb. Only problem with this dudes build is putting a $500 shitter optic on a $6000 rifle
If you bounce between lead or jacketed ammo and solid copper for hunting you need to strip the barrel to bare metal prior to shooting solid copper otherwise your groups will be shit.
Trying to decide between a 20S or a Seekins SP10
Obviously the stock rattles BECAUSE YOU SHOT IT SUPPRESSED IVAN 🙃 the Belgians are not pleased….
That rifle is sexy I would like to see a video comparing this to the sr25
Have you had issues with the rifle ripping out primers like Mac did on his review
They fixed fixed that issue on the 6.5 guns
@blackhawkninjabeast would you happen to know if it's fixed on the barrel assembly or did they make a new bolt I'm asking because I already have a 20s but in 308 and I'm intrested in getting the barrel assembly for 6.5 creedmoor
Why is FN so strange about their guns even HK is not that odd about stuff
Most of the guns that beat themselves to death are because of that reciprocating sledgehammer. If you have both adjustable gas block and the NRCH odds are pretty low.
They make a DMR now in 6.5. Might as well just buy another gun by the time you are done with all of those mods. PSA has it for under 3k
Scar-20 sucking without supressor is a well known fact.
15:09 Unacceptable!
Picatinny rails are superior to all mounting systems. I would think a tactical Chad like yourself would be aware of ladder rail covers. BCM and Magpul make some great ones, they even have different colors.
LOL Friends let their friends run their cans so they don't have to be subjected to their muzzle brakes. :P
Scar's are definitely sexy looking guns, but not at those prices! And the fact FN will void your warranty if you supress your Scar is absolutely abysmal to say the least. With that in mind, I'll stick to AR-10's and AK's.
With all the issue, imagine buying a 1k PSA M110 clone getting the same groups and better accuracy(or the same). It’s hard to justify the price deposited it being a nice rifle.
The SCAR is a $5k hunk of shit. You could spend a couple thousand less on an LMT 308 and get a much better rifle while also having less proprietary parts.
@@khaanadian9648 I have all the 3 and I like my lmt but If you think the scar is piece of shit just say you’re poor
@@blackhawkninjabeast It's not a complete hunk of shit but my point is you can get a better rifle for less money. I'd rather buy an LMT that takes commonly available SR25 pattern mags and AR15 accessories than spend $5k on a SCAR. The SCAR is a cool rifle no doubt, it just makes more logistical sense for me to buy something else.
Id vote LMT is someone in the states wanted a 308 gun. Pricy but well vetted, and theres a reason theyre slow to change their catalog.
@@khaanadian9648 fair enough I actually prefer the scar if you aren’t considering price. Palmetto had a deal on a 6.5 creedmore scar dmr for 2999 with a stock you can easily sell for 600$ and already comes with a giessle trigger.
I have a scar. Not really impressed on its accuracy. Reliable yes. Just not a tack driver. I know it’s not supposed to be one.
Not many people want them either
All the quad rail fans punching the air right now LOL
5 moa for the average 308/ 7.62x51? I suppose that's why that cartridge was used in DMRs and sniper rifles during the GWOT and in earlier conflicts.
He was probably taking about the military surplus 7.62 and not the military "higher-grade" m118lr
@@vale.r4214 Only the worst milsurp is that bad, and certainly new manufacture .308 isn't, which until recently was significantly cheaper than 6.5.
@@vale.r4214since the standard for military service rifles (not dmr or sniper rifles obviously) the standard accuracy is about 3moa generally. 5 is unacceptable, it would have to be really awful surplus.
The SCAR, in all iterations, is a rifle where each individual component looks great on paper and then you pair them all together and it's just the most mediocre rifle possible (for the price they charge for it). Extruded aluminum reciever and they want $4500 for this gun. That is insane
At the end, it sounds like he wants to turn this into SCAR 17? Just sell it an dbuy the 17?
Scars are great, fns support isn't.
SCARS are cool to look at and talk about for sure. But “battle rifles?” It sounds like they have more special needs than combat typically affords.
It's crazy how poorly it shot without a can. My $500 PSA AR-15 shoots better than that.
