- Fellow Legends, welcome! Today we have another excellent Shoe0nHead video asking one simple question. "What happened to men?" A rather interesting question, though one that really merits a closer look at what people define being a man as and the greater social perception. I absolutely recommend that you go ahead and check out Shoe0nHead as well as the original video to show some support for the source material!

Kip learning about Ben Shapiro for the first time and instantly being "That's not a real person" is amazing. New conspiracy unlocked, the Shapiros are robots made to push right-wing ideals.
Tbf, it's Ben Shapiro. He's more or less seen like paid opposition like Fox news. He even said and admitted he's supporting the US as long as they support Israel financially.
Closer to Jewish ideal’s, but what do you expect from someone who’s jewish.
... I thought this was known facts? No conspiracy involved lol
Not knowing about Beb Shabibo. Sweet summer child.
Ben Shapiro originally from 2012-2019 identified and pretty much preached Libertarianism. It was at this time in 2020, where he defiantly dove into the more Conservative views. Also, it was a cannonball dive, not a dental dip. But that was with everyone in 2020.

Kip one of my friends literally has a regular comment of "why can't I live in a time where it's acceptable for me to carry a sword on my hip?"
It's such a mood.

I take issue with the term “toxic masculinity” simply because what it’s describing isn’t gender specific. If a man hits someone it’s “toxic masculinity”, but what if a woman hits someone? Is it still “toxic masculinity”? Toxic behavior is toxic behavior, I don’t see the need to gender the term when the act itself isn’t gendered.
What we mean by the hole punching people things that men are taught that that’s on your emotions/stoicism are qualities of a “real man” and that leads them to bottle up their emotions in an unhealthy way. As a result, they will let out their emotions through random acts of violence. That’s what we mean by that.
@@matthewtheyobafromstartrak6069 I get that, but that still isn’t a gender specific thing. While it’s true that men typically bottle up their emotions more frequently, attributing that to the concept of masculinity as a whole seems disingenuous and only serves to demonize masculinity and, by extension, men. It’d be the same as saying that since women tend to be more passive-aggressive that passive-aggression is “toxic femininity”. Even if you say it doesn’t refer to all men, attributing a gender-neutral toxic trait to masculinity specifically does tend to paint it on men in general.
@@coreyklaustermeier5692 yes but it is more common among men because they are raised to act that way and to believe that it’s a masculine trait. I’m a man and I don’t feel that this demonizes men at all. Also passive aggressiveness has been known as a white girl “toxic femininity” trope for awhile now
@@matthewtheyobafromstartrak6069 You may not view it the same way, and that’s fine. I just think attributing toxic behaviors to masculinity or femininity specifically tends to lead to a “guilty until proven innocent” mentality of assuming the worst of people until they prove themselves otherwise. (Most women are catty/untrustworthy, most men are violent bombs ready to blow at any moment, etc.) Just not a mentality I ever approve of.
@@coreyklaustermeier5692 they’re objectively are behaviors that are more common to women and more common to men. The guilty until proven innocent, and generalizing thing is a separate issue that has nothing to do with common gendered traits

Every time I see something from Ben I just think „Please shut up“
Clothes got ruined and exp put them in the laundry and lent me a dress to wear.

And kip. I support your return to PROPER fashion. Armor-core for life!
It isnt that the world is this stupid, its that the stupid within it screams louder, and more often, in a frantic attempt to seem smart.
6:40 "My source is that I made it the *fack up* "
Source: Trust me bro
I was debating not saying anything because I don't want to be too political. However I figure since it was brought up in the video I will point out the person who removed the gold standard was Richard Nixon
That's fine to comment. That's citing which US President did that action. That's objective information.
What I try to avoid is subjective information.
"Is this man real? I feel like I'm looking at an animation!" This had me laughing so hard. Sadly, yes, this man is real.
"No no no, let me just stop you right there, lizard man."
The yawning chasm of critique that Ben Shapiro opened himself up to... XD
I got a Quran ad on the femboy bit 💀
Well, video game I can go with it. As a man, I am into anime, drive my car, update and upgrade electronic device, collect and read comic books, cooking, cleaning, mowing the lawn, travel, saving money, gym, watching documentaries and movie.
My favorite thing about Ben Shapiro is hearing ai him "singing" songs and going, "there's just no way. No one speaks like that and it sounds almost like an alien/robot trying to not get caught faking being a human."
Then you hear actual Ben Shapiro talk and realize those memes were spot on and there's just no way he's a real person.
11:30 That was actually Nixon in '73...Reaganomics is basically "Trickle-down" economics...heavy investment in business while deregulating...a policy that Bush Sr. and actually Clinton too would pretty much follow (he basically gutted the welfare system and deregulated like crazy, that's why there are only six media companies, two tech, and two cable platforms, it goes back to Reagan, but none are blameless), and is a core of the GOP to this day...
So Kip is one of those Gold Standard Enjoyers. Good to be informed on this in a non-political way.
It's why I have issues with crypto. I ask myself what it's backed by. If I buy a Doge Coin, what gives it its value? It's because someone says so? To me, that's a little shaky. If you were to have a US dollar, that's at least physically tangible and is backed by a lot of the world having USD as the defacto currency.
Even taking USD and the gold standard out of this. What makes something have value? Why does it have this value? What can I use this value for?
So just to be clear when Shoe says "libertarian" she is talking about the core political philosophy, as opposed to any political party.
You can do what you want with yourself and your property as long as it doesn't harm someone else is the essential core of libertarian philosophy.
My thoughts this entire video was "y'all know Feddie Mercury wore womens clothes right? And he fuckin slayed in those man.
Kip would have a fit watching Ben Shapiro when he tried to grow a beard. Talk about lizard people.
If you ever want to look up something about trade skills, look into Mike Rowe. He used to do a show on discover called dirty Jobs. He testified in front of Congress about the death of trade jobs and it's really interesting hearing and talk about how some of the happiest people he ever met were people that did the dirty jobs like cleaning sewers, things like that.
Another channel I watch refers to conservatives as SJW Classic. Some of us remember the 80s and 90s moral panics from the right.
I used to wear a skirt before I joined the Army. It was plaid and I was wearing a Scottish Bonnet. I think they called it a kilt.
BTW the Germans in WWI gave some killer nicknames. You have the Marines named the Devil Dogs. And you have the Highlanders named Ladies from Hell.
Very valid point.
Toxic Masculinity does not imply that Masculinity in itself is poison.
It targets SPECIFIC toxic, undesirable, masculine traits.
Traits that actually have always been looked down upon.
It just hasn't been presented before that certain toxic traits have been more masculine
OKAY this comment section HEAVILY SUGGESTS that the 6 figure for a maid outfit is feasible for you XD

@@professorpengu502 Ah yes the game that teaches me politics the funny way while still being serious about it lmao
Dresses were initially designed for men, I dunno what all the fuss was about. The idea of wearing things for others outside of formal occasions never sat well with me, and it's silly to me that others think their input on what others wear, within reason, actually matters. It's a free country, wear whatever you want.
There is a story in Norse mythology, where Thor(whom one could argue is the pinnacle of manliness) dresses up in a wedding dress as Freyja, to get his stolen hammer back. If the god of thunder can wear a dress, so can everyone else. It is important to note though, that these stories were written by Christians. So Thor hates the idea of dressing in women's clothing, and remarks how he doesn't want to be seen as gay for wearing them. But he reluctantly wears it anyway for the good of the world. That said, it is perfectly fine to do so. I myself have worn my mother's dress and heels when I was younger just because.
It’s debatable to say who exactly had written down these stories other than Snorri himself or he might have added something to the stories. I think that Thor fro God of War is the most accurate depiction of him from the mythology, but I also sometimes think that some characters from other franchises look more masculine than him. Son Goku, Jotaro, Solid Snake. Just to name a few.
@@andrewpresley8676 I was mainly going off some common stereotypes. Beard, insane strength, heavy drinking(he visibly changed the ocean during a bet with Útgarða-Loka, where he drank from a horn but it was connected to the ocean) etc.
Loki has male and female genitalia and had given birth to Sleipnir. Odin's eight legged horse. And fathered Fenrir, Jörmungandr and Hel.
@@kevinkenealy1179 Yeah and? No one here was saying otherwise. I think it’s commonly accepted that Loki was most likely built like a character from part 5 or 6 of Jojo’s Bizarre Adventure. He must’ve been the first icon to that community. Perhaps not a positive icon, but an icon nonetheless.

All valid questions that few who claim masculinity is toxic seem willing to answer or answer exclusively with strawmans(DV being hyper focused on being a prime example when the reality of DV is a 50/50 split.).
@@CommanderRedEXE there is a difference between masculinity and toxic masculinity no one has said they are the same
@professorpengu502 Many have claimed exactly that. Infact I'd wager if you asked random people online and in person what they thought Toxic Masculinity was, you'd be aghast how many will say all masculinity is toxic.

Kip, as a person in finance, does "trickle down economics" work and will raising minimum wage fix poverty?
From everything I've heard and conversations with my buddy who worked in finance, trickle down economics does not work. While I'm a fan of raising the minimum wage, there's challenges and considerations that cause it to be a divisive issue. I honestly need to have a few discussions before I give a verdict on my opinion on minimum wage increases.

I'd assume most reactions to husband showing up in dress is "WTF you're ruining my dress"
12:20 I think there's a logical explantion for that:
many critizise or openly attack them. They want to vent their frustration, and racism is one of the go to ways to attack random stranger without much consequence since there are so many racists. They seek security in numbers, in case their misguided "selfdefense" blows uyp in their face.

You likley know some of this, but SIG has complicated history.
It started as SWG in 1853 (swiss wagon factory).
They developed a rifle and submitted it to a competition in 1860. They changed their name to SIG (Swiss industrial company) upon receiving the government contract in 1864.
I can say for a fact that the K11, K31, SIG P 210, and the Stgw 57 (civilian production is the SIG 510) are exeptionaly well crafted, robust, reliable and extremely acurate.
I have, however, heard that a limited run of SIG 510 variants was produced in the US under license, which are apparently horrid in build quality.
They later became SIG Saurer. From this point, i can only speak about the Stgw 90 ( SIG 550). It is accurate and reliable but not as robust as the SIG 510.
So if you mean SIG, then i have to disagree. Though i can't say too much if you mean SIG Saurer other than i heard positive things.
Maybe you got some licensed guns, or the SIG Saurer factories in America joust produce an inferior product?

My theory is that scrolling short form content trains people's brains to be less capable to form longer thoughts aka able to do things like attentive reading.
51:41 are you trying to say shooting guns is masculine ? I don't see it.
52:04 pretty certain in Europe it's young ladies that take that cake.
53:42 yes, we value brain jobs over hard labor, because some people can't get a higher education, they are just not good at learning such skills. While people who have those skills could also do hard labor if they had too, so we value those who are less of a commodity.
57:02 probably also an antiquated view, but: love, we both bring in love in to the relationship (and I assume sex), forget about money, it's not that important people.

why are people losing their mind over men wearing dresses? cross dressing existed since gendered clothes.
for most it's a phase, for some it's a hobby, and for a few it's a way of life.
same as Goth, or whatever else.
now, people who treat fictional characters like they are real people and treat real people as if they are fictional characters ARE a HUGE issue in our society that should be addressed before people lose their mind over some dude wearing a maid dress, as horribly as he is doing it.(Finster did it better)
Where are we drawing the line between unhealthy and toxic? You commented on there being a clear dividing line in the video but didn't describe where that line is. Thanks
I default to how the action is impactful, and how severe it is.
Not taking a shower every day isn't toxic, it's unhealthy.
Not taking a shower for months at a time and it impacting others in your life is toxic, more than unhealthy.
Pushing people away because you have trust issues is unhealthy.
Pushing people away because you have trust issues and you are actively shut down all communication and people trying to reach out is toxic.
I generally look at how it impacts oneself and others, but that's my subjective viewpoint. I'm still working out a good working definition.
im a little confused. whats the difference between toxic n unhealth? are they not essential the same thing?
I had thought they were one and the same until having that conversation.
I'm not the best with words trying to explain it, think about it being subjective severity.
It's a toxic behavior to be mean to everyone you meet so you don't have to deal with randoms.
It's an unhealthy behavior to try and avoid everyone you meet so you don't have to deal with randoms.
Both can be considered not healthy in this example, but one of these has a specific intent and severity behind it.
Not everything that isn't healthy should be considered toxic.
It can just be an unhealthy behavior that requires some minor adjustment.
@KipReacts ahh, ok, that makes sense
despite being someone who likes distinctions, this flew completely over my head, thx for the explanation
Nixon took us off the gold standard, not Reagan.
I get the two mixed up. Thanks for the clarification!
It was sad, really. Nixon was a pretty based president overall, founding the EPA and all. Lying about Watergate and taking us off the Gold Standard are the only negatives I can think of (I don’t count the War on Drugs, because Nixon had no way of possibly knowing how bad _that_ would go).

When are we getting a maid's dress for Kip?
Love your nuance. I mean the first part of the video was...pain. because all those people were braindead. Even Ben Shapiro I disagree with, becasue of many things that need to be unpacked...but presented a different way: Tim Pool's culture war video had som interesting, if controversial stuff. I feel like the conversation of masculinity and femininity could be expanded on to not just be muh biology, but how our culture has consistently put down men lately, and when i say lately, I mean the last thirty years if not more making fun of men, stripping male role models from the cultural zeitgeist.

30:00 must run in the family...
55:30 antiquated!?!??
My impression of antiquated is that the couple shares an acconut and the more dominant (usually the husband, prove me I'm wrong) gets to decide how the wealth is allocated.
what you describe is to me what should be the case in general. both have their assets, both have their belongings AND private rooms/private space(seriously underreated concept imho) . And they may share/pool their resources of their own accord for things that one/neither can pay/achieve on their own. Almost as if they cared for oneanother.
Logic is such a wild thing, it's almost as if it's designed to make sense.
But love is supposed to be irrational, so maybe all that drama is justified.
@Kip In case you feel like I'm bombarding you with irrelevant comments:
I've had some CH3CH2OH, and it tends to make me very oppinionated and uncaring about others reaction to said opinion, as well as inclined to share them globally.
Maybe I should make that a habit.
Not the drinking part though...
To be fair. Ben said "punching someone in the face." Someone. Not women. Dude punching some dude in the face isn't domestic violence.
It was in tandem with his previous statements referencing husband and wife DV that gave me that context.

Besides, women also tend to want to punch things, they just bottle up the aggression. A bit like men are bottling up their feelings. Could it be both are just suppressing parts of their natural behaviour to not be seen as "abnormal"/gay by others????😱
( in reference to the tweet shown on screen here: 5:28)
What drives me nuts about the type of people who make arguments like this, is these are more often than not the same people who will tell trans women to just be feminine men.

To play the devils advocate Ben just said punching people in the face, that has nothing to do with domestic violence. (EDIT: small correction it can be used for domestic violence but for instance a bar brawl is not domestic violence)
I'm not sure if you are using that term wrong or if you thought he said something else...
